I just finished looking at a copy of Amano's new book Mateki: The Magic Flute. The story is based on Mozart's classical opera, entitled Die Zauberflöte. It tells the story in full color illustration about a prince battling evil to rescue his princess. Amano is famous for his work on Vampire Hunter D, Final Fantasy and Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. With this new graphic novel he wonderfully crafts a story full of his visionary artworks. This is a book that will be a classic. It comes out in June '08 for full release.

I dunno...this news doesn't really make me happy.
.....I'd expect an opera (which relies solely on powerful lyrics and delivery) turned comic book (a silent, unmoving medium) would lose it's impact and come out horrible. Might as well just start fresh, you know? That might just be me though.
Why can't people come up with their own ideas?

Will he tell the story only with his art or will there be text aswell?
If he does I am interested.
I have Yoshitaka Amanos Hero GN wich consist of art and text and that one did not interest me at all.
I still have the Hero GN, but im selling mine, hopefully I can sell it.
