Hey, anyone here like cars?

If so, what do you or your parents drive?

My dad is driving a Mercedes CLS coupe and my mom is driving a Jaguar XK convertible. In addition to my dads mercedes, he may get a Porsche Carerra 4S cabriolet for fun, and my mom is getting a Mercedes GL 450 SUV soon.

So, what about you guys?

Why would it fail? plus if you don't like cars, you don't have to post here. But I know there are a lot of people who do like to discuss cars and the such.

Those are some cars!

Two of my brother in laws collect cars. Here are some of the cars they have:

One has: Ferrari F430 Spyder, Ford GT racecar, Audi S8, Hummer H1, 2 motorcycles(harley and BMW), GMC Denali, Range Rover Sport HSE, tricked out Ford Expedition, and maybe even some more I don't know about, lol.

The other has: Ferrari 575 Maranello, Bentley Arnage.

I have pictures of most of the cars in my family, if you guys want any.

Oh, well I actually didn't know that I posted this twice. I came here after finding this site on google, and I found out that I had an account here. After that, I looked and saw that I had 0 posts. Than I did a search to see if there were any car threads here, and the search came up empty, so I posted the thread.

Well, I do actually love discussing cars in general, anyone on almost all of the other forums I'm an active member on can tell you that. I don't care what car it is, I just like discussing them, since there are some really cool cars that aren't expensive.

I have very much proof that I am not lying about any of this, I can back anything up and give you any proof needed.

I"m sorry for posting this twice.

But if anyone would still like to discuss cars or see pictures of proof, please post here.

I really do like anime, and I will try to stay active on this forum and not just harp on cars.

Thanks.

And here is what happened. I've been using the same username and password for 5 years, its my AIM username and i've used it on every forum that I've registered on. So, I tried to register here and it said that my email had already been used. So, I just tried the user and password that I used for all the forums and it worked.

I than saw that I had 0 posts(after I just found out that everything you post in the off topic threads doesn't count towards your post count).

But I guess lets just talk about cars.

Again if anyone wants pictures or proof I have it.

I'm sorry again for posting this twice. But I will promise that everything I say is true and I can prove most all of it.

Well, lets discuss cars.

I did say post what cars you own or your parents own(if you can't drive like me).

The posting of my cars was just something to spark discussion and comparisons and such.

How about this: what is your favorite car?

My favorite car is not any of the ones my family has.

I love the Mercedes SLR McClaren and teh Ferrari California.
My bro in law has a Ferrari F430, but the California is nicer, and so is the GTB Fioriano(Sp?) which I like as well.

Used to be into cars big time, not so much these days, though I'd like to get another nice car... I can think of better things to put my coin towards.

Anyways...
Used to own a 93 Nissan Skyline GTS (With bolt on turbo conversion plus a WHOLE lot of other work to it).
Brother used to own a 2000 RX-7 FD RZ (The limited one's that only like 170 or so were made apparently).
Dad has 2 Jag's at the moment. An 85 XJ6 which he is actually selling and he just bought some other older model jag, very tidy car, got a V12 in it etc, cabriolet.

I currently have no car only a motorbike, personal choice.

Hey Mirkz, you have any pictures of those old jags? I'm not that into old cars, but I've been getting more interested in some of the old luxury cars.

What are the older jags like? I hear that they've always had electrical problems. Since with the newer ones that definitely holds true, the XK convertible my mom is driving has had some electrical troubles from time to time, but its still a great car. On the other hand, my dads Mercedes has never had any problems, its really a great car!

Oh and thanks for not hating me, lol.

But for all that do like cars, just discuss here :)

Cars are loud, dangerous, cause lots of pollution and cost loads of money.
They're only useful when there's no alternative what-so-ever.
I never want to own one, unless things change A LOT.

DavenIII
June 9th, 2008, 11:35 AM
I refuse to own a car with less then 6 cylinders I don't know why its just something I have a strong belief in :P

My first car (that I bought) was a Z34 Caviler my second car was a Lincoln LS (that I Loved but it got flooded) now I own a Jeep Wrangler...because its still floods where I work.

before that I drove a old Lincoln (87 I think?) Town Car which was kinda like driving a boat... you had to spin the wheel like 3 or 4 times to CHANGE LANES lol :P

My father "used" to Drag race he's got a 1981 Z28 Camero all beefed up with Edelbrock performance parts and has a NOS hook up to the intake...(he couldn't hit the NOS off the bat otherwise the wheels smoked up something ridiculous and he'd get a bad time so he had it hooked up for when the intake flaps opened which was a little further down the track so as not to smoke the tires)

they also have a Durango 2007 and a Chevy Sierra Dually with a Tow package which we tow our two campers with also have a Jeep Liberty...and my brother drives a Charger....The Chargers nice a like it, my favorite of all our cars is definatly the Chevy Sierra Dually though... that thing is...well its just HUGE.

only gets like 10 MPG though and it costs a little over 150$ to fill-up diesel (probably more nowadays)

Caster13
June 9th, 2008, 11:45 AM
My dad's Saturn get's good gas mileage. 29 mpg, but that's not enough for me so I'm gonna save up some money and trade it in for something with like 33 and more mpg. Unfortunately a lot of the times that means that the car is stick shift, so I should learn soon. Manual transmissions get a couple miles per gallon more than automatics.

But it still has to be able to accelerate a good amount. Can't get a slug.

You say that but then you realize a city like Chicago, with an extensive public transit system, tacks on .5% to the sales tax (bringing it to over 10%) and still charges you $2 to ride one way.

Anyway, for cars I like the Smart twofour, you can fit into parallel parking spots by just backing up.

My dad actually had a Mazeratti Bi-turbo a while back and the car had so many problems, the dealer gave him a new one free, no charge.

I don't know if it counts, but... my brother and I are going to build a simple jet engine this summer in our garage and he'll stick it on a go-cart for his science project. It'll be the funkiest ride on the road.

As for cars themselves, I'd like to build my own if I ever acquire the knowledge to do so. Likelier, I'd just research for parts and get it custom built. I don't see myself owning a car for another 5 years or so, but when I do, I'll probably go electric or another form of fuel since gas is getting way too costly.

I"m thinking of getting a 335i BMW coupe for my first car, when I turn 16. I can't wait!

LOL! I sense a bit of an income/age disparity here! Forgive me, but for most "normal" people like myself, a 330i is an "aspirational" car that I have no hope in hell of buying for myself, even at my present stage in my life, since most of my personal life savings are about to be poured into my next home.

If what you say about your family situation is true, then just be thankful that you've grown up with some privileges that most of us can only dream of having. Don't ever take it for granted, and count yourself lucky for owning your own real estate @ the tender age of your mid-teens... Take advantage of the situation by learning as much as you can about your investments, and having the luxury to make your own mistakes without fear of becoming destitute (a very real fear for the rest of us!). Bottom line, don't waste the advantages you have. Make use of them to accomplish what you want to in life, assuming you've figured out what your goals are at this point.

Unrelated, but I also hate how a lot of famous people think that "It's so hard being famous. The paparazzi never leave me alone, and I have so much to worry about." BULL-****ING-****! You live a life that people only dream about, a house the size of a department store, and you can get anything you can possibly think of. And you COMPLAIN!? give me a damn break.....

Plus, I'm not famous, I know celebrities and famous people, but my family isn't famous, they are just good at business and stuff..

I will never waste any of my advantages and I definitely will not blow anything on partying and drugs. I'm 15 and unlike many of my other wealthy friends, I have never touched drugs or alcohol, unless it was some wine at a jewish holiday thing.

Well, when they already have upwards of 70,000+ miles on them when I buy them....I don't really expect them to last forever, you know? I'm cheap, and running and maintaining a vehicle gets expensive. I go for the Happy Junker more often than naught.

You can't just purchase an Enzo from a dealer like your run of the mill Camry. You first have to establish a relationship with a dealer and begin your "initiation" into the world of Ferrari purchases by buying a used model as no new customers are allowed to purchase model year cars until five years after the first purchase.

After all of that is said and done, if your bank account passes muster, you purchase more cars, and Maranello likes you enough, you'll be placed on a waiting list for current model year cars. Ever notice outside of banks, very few people own the Enzo outright?

Oh, I know, after seeing it mentioned I did a brief look-up on an Enzo. 400 made(apparently all in 2003), usually people outside the loop buy the cars through auctions...I think I was just in shock from seeing someone mention they were saving up for one.

It's not an impossibility, but it would take 45 years at 3.50% APY if $100 was put away every week. Car collectors and enthusiasts usually don't rely on such methods to purchase cars, instead relying on relative wealth from business ventures or other means.

I started small and purchased a 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce for $700 in 1997 and am now on my second heavily modified BMW M3, though my forte lies in tuning Japanese imports and race prepping exotics.

I used to own a scary fast 91 Toyota MR2 with the "deathtrap" suspension and a heavily built turbo inline four, and I'm currently looking for another to test some ideas on maximizing fuel economy and efficiency while still being able to pull +1.0g of lateral acceleration and produce 500 horsepower

Wow, this is my thread, we currently own a 1965 Impala SS Coupe. Its recently fallen into disrepair as we've run into a spot of hard times but my brother is planning on fixing it up. We also have a 1945 Ford(yes its a ford) Army Jeep (That's pretty much how I can describe it). We used to own an old Lincoln coonvertible(like the car Kennedy got shot in) but we had to sell it because it was a little high matinence. For our main cars we have a red 2008 Jeep Wrangler with standard shift and a black 2003 VW Golf. The golf may sound crappy but I love it.

uhmm the reason i say that i am saving up for an Enzo is because a friend of mine has a Sypder and my Enzo will be partly owned by him only because he has the connection to help me buy it (he already owns a Ferrari.)

For those who are wondering how i can manage to get a cool 2.7 (estimate from dealer for my customizations) mil in two years, i am financially secure and i take big risk (it doest hurt to have side bets in life as well).

So you're saving up all of that money for proxy ownership of an expensive car? Why not just do as I suggested since its much cheaper and you won't have to deal with all the red tape? It really screams "fake it till you make it/$40,000 millionaire" type of thinking.

For those who are wondering how i can manage to get a cool 2.7 (estimate from dealer for my customizations) mil in two years, i am financially secure and i take big risk (it doest hurt to have side bets in life as well).

AS for your suggestion, its greatly appreciated but i rather go through the whole mess. Besides taking the easy way out isn't realy my thing lolz.

I take market risks and so far they've been god to me. i know the market is unstable at the moment, but i dont mind. easy come easy go, right, but i have my save ventures as it, and thats where i get most of the capital towards my Enzo from. Besides, there are really bad drives here, and talk is cheap, thats why i made sure my car can perform before anything else.

I understand if your stil skeptical but thats your flaw.
