If World War 2 never happened, our video game market wouldn't be saturated with so many FPS titles. That's why war is bad. Really, how many games do you need where you charge the same old Omaha beach?
I think that Saving Private Ryan is overrated and the title spawned too many stupid jokes.
The 6th of June is also the birthday of Tom Araya of Slayer.

LOL at Trefellin mentioning the name of some obscure guy of some obscure band in a thread that emphasizes and honors the day that thousands of men perished around the world.

Oh....
The sad thing is that some people really are like that. Then there's the people that grow up horribly sheltered and have no clue about anything besides their little bubble of a world. Parents are to blame there.

All this talk of horrid overrated metal bands is both taking this thread off course and making me angry. Stop now.

Shaving Ryan's Privates
Fixed that for you.
Apparently the casualties for the Allied forces was approximately 9,000. I'm not sure about fatalities and wounded but that's what I could dig up. Like Reidar said "The rest is well earned."

I challenge you to grab some 12 year old off the street and ask them if they've heard of Slayer.
I can't stand them, personally, but I acknowledge their existence. Most kids these days don't even know what Slayer is.

I've never heard any of their songs, but I've heard metalheads talking about them around the neighborhood. I guess that means I know about them. I also went to wiki to do some research...

Why do you hate freedom so much, Trefellin? Oh, right, you're Trefellin.

If someone makes a thread with "allied forces" "64 years ago" and "france" in the title, there's a 100% chance that doesn't involve anything other than WWII and D-Day. Although since you didn't get it at the start I'd imagine you won't get it even when people spell it out for you.

I guess they figured that since the English fought so hard to oppress them, it was time for the English to fight to maintain Irish freedom.

Germany wasn't a proverbial knife at Ireland's throat. And the last thing the English were fighting for was some other country's freedom, especially Ireland's. If anything it's surprising that the Irish didn't call Hitler and invite him to build some Luftwaffe bases in Dublin.
