I think it was 24 hours, or close to it, I remember waking up and asking something about what was supposed to happen that day and my mother telling me it wasn't that day anymore it was the next day :P
Long time ago though I think i was like 10 or 11.

If I try and stay awake for 30 hours or more or if I get really sick.

...without being sick or in a state of comatose, the longest i've gone is 18 hours. easy.
drinking the night before + some sleeping aides = hibernation.

I was awake for 36 hours once, afterwards I slept for 14 hours, that's gotta be the longest.

June 5th, 2008, 12:53 PM
The longest I've stayed awake was between 32-35 hours. I'm not sure because I was effectively a zombie at the time.
The longest I've slept is... maybe 22-24 hours. I had the flu I think. There was another time that, except for a couple sorties, I stayed in bed for two days. I had a terrible fever. I got up to grab a sandwich and nearly blacked out in the kitchen.
When I have a fever, I get the weirdest hallucinations. One time, I thought there were tiny people hiding in the folds of my blanket and I couldn't sleep because they kept talking to me. Another time I thought I was a general and couldn't command my army against the British because I was so ill. I swear I could hear the cannonade.

Last summer, because of night-shift work and I just couldn't sleep, I once stayed up for 32 hours straight then slept for 6 hours then stayed up another 40 hours while working another night-shift. Luckily it was my day off then and I slept 12 hours.

Wait... are you saying you actually sleep? :O
For me, the longest is over 24 hours. I'm not sure exactly how long, but like Daven I pretty much missed a whole day. That was over a decade ago, I don't sleep quite so much anymore. I'm still capable of catching a good 12 hours worth of zzz when I'm especially tired, though. Other than that one time, which I'll say was 26 hours for the sake of pinning a number on it, I tend to break up the snoozing at least a little. What I mean to say is that if I'm going to get some extra sleep, I'll wake up for an hour here and there to at least drink something.

The longest I've ever slept straight through? Without waking?
Hmm...
Probably 15 some odd hours. I get sick a lot and sleep it off, you know. No more than 15 hours at most. If I sleep too long I get sick and dizzy from dehydration.
Soluzar

If I sleep too long I get sick and dizzy from dehydration.
Exactly. Plus the headaches. That's why, if I intend to get extra sleep, I'd rather break it up into more manageable chunks. My body just seems to work that way these days.

When I was sick, probably like...12 hours...if thats counting without waking. If you mean waking, but not leaving bed and going back to sleep, at least 19 to 24.

Too bad that's basically the same as the 1917 flu pandemic. Not that I'm surprised that you wouldn't know these things. Just because of who you are, not your position in your quaint little sub-arctic society.

LOL Teff man, you're one funny guy when you're tired (or at least in an exhausted state). You would probably lose all sanity if you were to lick a few certain papers... :shifty: .
OK on topic: 16 hours. I had just broken up with my ex and wasn't over her and she called me out of the blue and asked me to meet her the next day. Next day I got stood up and waited around for around 3 hours (that's what happens I'm afraid). I went home and didn't know what to think, do, say or whatever so I layed on my bed at 7pm and woke up at 2pm-ish.
My excuse = I was stupid but I wouldn't have done it for ANY other girl.

Not sick, about 9 hours. My body has a hard time going past 7 which is usually all I need though I normally get closer to 6 working graves. Even when I got food poisioning a few months back I only slept 8 and rolled around in my sweat for like 4 hours -_-;
I got a dreadful migraine when I was in my teens that I had to get a shot for and I was conked out for about a full 24 hours.

Yes, but Avian Influenza has been prevalent in recent years. Also, it is commonly known as the 1918 flu pandemic.

Am I supposed to be impressed or intimidated or something? Oregon's population is 3 million, making the city you're bragging about 1.5 million. I guess that's pretty hardcore in a country with 1/10th the population of the US and even less relevance to global socio-economic affairs.

Wow, I overestimated Oregon's population. Toronto's population is 2.5 million. Sorry, I should have said that I live a short drive away from a city with a population of 5/6 of your entire state.

No Canadian beer is very similar to Icelandic beer. No flavor, over carbonated and light on the alcohol. I think they may have improved some by stealing the idea for microbreweries from the US but they still do not make beer anywhere near as good as as US breweries. Of course the benchmark of beer is in Belgium, no country even comes close to them beer wise.

I agree with Bernard, if only for Leffe Blonde (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leffe) Hoegaarden's not bad either, though I generally prefer traditional English beers at the moment (e.g. various Badger Ales (http://www.hall-woodhouse.co.uk/beers/badgerales/index.asp)).
BTW I'm not very good at sleeping for long periods. I usually sleep about 7 hours at night.... though I may spend the entire weekend sleeping on-and-off sometimes, never really being totally awake, but never sleeping for more than about 4-5 hours at a time.
My body clock wasn't made for 24 hour days, it seems.
