This is somewhat of a repost of my thread from another forum. Just wanted to see if anyone follows this and just hear what people have to say.
I see all kinds of stuff on the morning news from Mexico. Seems the police agencies and the military are really fighting hard to defeat organized recently. The crime syndicates are some resourceful and dangerous bastards. Interesting note: Rather than arms being smuggled into the US from Mexico, arms are smuggled into Mexico from the US, usually by crime syndicates and gun runners.
Here's some messed up stuff.
Note: They are giving out the serial #'s of the guns. Goat horn or "cuerno de chivo" is the nickname of the AK rifle in Mexico because of the magazine.
Mexico, DF, 11 de mayo de 2008
Federal Police repel an attack by an armed group in Sinaloa and detained six suspected criminals in possession of an arsenal of illegal weapons.

Yep folks, an M60 GPMG, Browning .30 LMG, M240, MG40,M249 and in the las pic what looks like a Soviet or Chinese copy of the LAW II rocket launcher. Recently I heard of a group which had some type of weapon that fired 40mm rounds, that's what you use to bring down aircraft.
There's all kinds of stuff that show up like frag grenades and such

It's not unheard of that these thugs have airplanes, and I've heard of two cases where they had helicopters as well.
Oh, yeah. The green leaf, one of the many drugs that keep the bad guys in business.

Things don't get any easier, you also have some ex-military men and ex-police that have joined up with the cartels and work for them. This makes things hard because they have knowledge of urban combat, sabotage, espionage and the like.
The violence is mostly contained to certain "hot spots" , the military has recently been deploying more troops to these hot spots to support the local law enforcement agencies. The military has recently deployed 2,723 infantry, marines, federal police and PGR to Sinaloa, Mexico.

And just recently: Several agents died fighting narcos in mexico, the bastards where using automatic weapons as well as fragmentation grenades
But because of this incident:
In a press conference the Ministry of Public Security announced that they are going to issue more higher caliber rifles (.308 G3 over AR15 & G36 rifles) to their agents as well acquire more armored vehicles. This comes after a violent gun battle in Sinaloa where 7 agents died.

Gunmen of the Sinaloa cartel clashed with federal agents against whom they threw fragmentation grenades that killed seven agents and scored the most serious blow to the federal police so far in this administration.
In response, the Ministry of Public Security will strengthen its presence in the city to launch a "total offensive" against organized crime.
The confrontation began at 23:00 am on Monday and lasted more than four hours until members of the army and various corporations established a secure perimeter. Inspite of the agents actions , most of the hired assassins fled in three vehicles.
Four other agents were wounded in the fray. One of the attackers was killed and two more were arrested.
The events occurred when agents approached a house with the number 1100 on Alba Acosta street, and a gun battle broke out where criminals killed two people.
The Federal Security secretary, Genaro Garcia Luna, announced that intelligence forces where deployed in addition to increasing the caliber (.308, G3) of weapons used by police and the level of shielding their patrols.

*note* music was added in. It's sad that some people glamorize the criminals in their music.
Wild ain't it? Kinda like 1920's mobsters and wild west outlaws, and 1980's miami drug lords all rolled into one big mess. Kinda sad, this kinda stuff has been going on for decades and it's starting to get worse since the government has started to really go after these guys.
