I love Fullmetal Alchemist, but did anyone else noticed that the show took a real emo turn after Hughes was killed. I'm serious, more people were crying. Then it gotten reallllly sick when Wrath fell in love ED and AL's mom claiming her to be his mom. ME and a friend was talking about this. Do anyone agree that the show turned Emo or was Emo from the start?

No. It didn't turn emo, it just got worse in terms of plot consistency. Don't worry, I confuse ****** 2nd seasons for "emo turn of plot" all the time.

Serious Edit: Yeah, it got a little more dark, but it had too. The first half was kinda' happy (excluding a few episodes), and a little too all over the place. Since the plot revolved around the Philosopher's Stone and the blood that came with it, there had to be more death and pain. Helps develop the story.

I don't think it really turned. The whole show was pretty emo since you know, the death of children, mentors, parents and friends on a regular basis can be emotional events.

God I hate the word emo. Especially when it is used in these conversations.

I dunno, maybe I just don't think that someone who has to make it through life alone at the age of 12 after losing their arm and leg at the cost of their brother's life who has to now live as a suit of armor with no senses really equates to the trials and tribulations of being an emo kid who cuts themself at night while crying and writing crappy poetry because their parents are too busy with work to pay attention to them.

I don't think anyone in the Fullmetal Alchemist anime is emo. All of their emotions are perfectly justifiable. The tone of the series is also justifiable.

With that said, the manga is better. But don't read it OP, you might start calling Mustang or Armstrong emo because of the way they are in the Ishvarlan war flash back and we CERTAINLY can't have that.

If you want to see a happy series which turned really emo, read Tsubasa.

I really don't understand this "this thing is emo" "that character is emo" "this story is emo" stuff.

It was way overdramatic after Hues's death, which is why I liked the Manga a whole lo more

Not the manga =/= stupid

I love FMA so I enjoy the manga too, but to me it so focused on the story that it doesn't try to get the reader attached to the characters at all. Meanwhile the anime tells its own unique story thats interesting (personally I think it beats the manga hands down in every way outside of length of the story) but you get attached to almost every character so its like the best of both worlds.

NEWS FLASH!
Due to the constant overuse and misuse of the term emo as well as the ridiculous amount of misinformation applied to every genre of entertainment since it's conception, the slang EMO is offically RETIRED!!!

We now return you to your thread...

Did FMA get emotional? It was always emotional, melodramatic, and well...gushy. If you didn't want the drama, why'd you sign up for it?
