Just now he started to run afever of 102...I've called the doctor, but should I be worried? Infection? What happens if it gets infected?? I'm justwanting consolance for no death andno amputations.
I always think the worst, so just console me?
Thanks.

Part of me just wants to think it's a coincidence. Maybe he caught the flu right after his procedure. I can't imagine he's running a raging infection from something as minor as wart removal.
Yeah, it's a lot of warts, but still... it's not a procedure that normally invites infection, you know?
The right thing to do is call the doctor. You could take him in to a clinic, I suppose.
Did they put him on any meds after his procedure? Is he showing any other symptoms besides fever?
For what it's worth, I wouldn't worry just yet. This just sounds odd, so far.

Alright. no other symptoms yet.
The doctor said that 3-5 days after surgery is when infections set in, so we're on the watch. The doctorgave us 3 things...1 for infection, 2 for pain. He's been on them. He said to try tylenol forthe fever andcall him tomorrow.

The 1 for infection: I gather it's an antibiotic? Which one? Has he ever taken it before?
The 2 for pain: Lemme guess.... vicodin, maybe? Whatever it is, has he ever taken it before?

Yeah it's an antibiotic. It's ammoxacylin. I dunno if he's taken it before...
Uh, the pain one is codine I think. He's taken it just like 2 weeksago for his back, he was on codine and vicodin for bacterial meningitis and extreme back pain.

Does your brother live in a septic tank or something?

Ha, might as well, this kid could live in a hospital.

Or does he seriously have AIDS?

If he's on medicine and you talked to the doctor, all you can do is see what happens in the next few days. As for your brother, he just needs to rest. A lot. And drink tons of liquids.

I'd hate to bring this up but if he really does have an infection it could be MRSA. Its an antibiotic resistant superbug that is spread in hospitals, locker rooms, and places like that. If he has MRSA(aka antibiotic resistant STAPH infection) then that's bad. I hate to bring this up, but it is a possibility.

I was thinking the same thing.

Amoxicillin and codeine are both really good, in my limited experience of antibiotics and painkillers <_<. But I thought they gave something else to prevent post operative infection? Or is that just for more invasive operations?

Sure, it could be, but there are lots of infections that aren't MRSA.
...All you can really do is talk to a doctor (which you've done) and do what they say. If he's not better by tomorrow, or he gets any worse I'd suggest asking again or going to the hospital.
EDIT
An adverse reaction to antibiotics can cause a fever. If he hasn't taken Amoxicillin or any other type of penicilin derived drug before then he might be having a reaction. I'd find out quickly if he hasn't.

That's true too. More likely, it's probaly what's ailing your brother.

That was my first thought. I'd expect to see a fine rash develop and respiratory problems.
If he shows additional reaction-like symptoms, he should stop taking the med and contact the hospital immediately. Reactions to antibiotics tend to be severe and worsen with each exposure.
Again, you're in contact with your doctor, and that's the best advice anyone here is gonna give you. If you don't think that's getting you anywhere, contact the hospital. Or odds are your insurance company has a hotline you can contact with live medical staff (usually nurses) waiting to assist you. Call it.

The last thing you want is an infection or a reaction to his medicine. Either can get nasty pretty quickly, so best to at least call the doctor if you hesitate to visit, and see what he has to say about it.
