View Full Version : How do I stop time?

Yeah... well, I'm a very busy person and I was wondering... how do I stop time?

You see, the problem came up this past week. I was supposed to learn this Sonata (Prokofiev, #1) by tomorrow and well... I still have four pages left to go. Instead of staying up all day and night practicing (which I can't afford to do, thanks to school), I was thinking it'd just be easier to stop time. I'm extremely stressed out right now and I'm starting to get behind in every aspect of my life. I've failed to keep schedules I've made for myself since before Christmas and I'm starting to get a feeling that I'm doomed to failure.

Anyways, there seem to be some really smart people here like LD and Vsh and and Soluzar and lots of other people so yeah I figured I'd have the best luck if I asked here. Surprisingly, searching Google didn't help one bit (none of the stuff worked).

Enter Circle, Square, Up, Down, Left, Right, Select+Start at the Title Screen.

If that doesn't work, you're screwed. :naughty:

You'll have to learn better time management than just keeping broad schedules. Decide what can be finished first and progressively work your way through other things that take longer to finish. If some things can be put off, wait until the next day.

Yeah... well, I'm a very busy person and I was wondering... how do I stop time?

I find this funny. I manage a wiki, write for a website with 200,000 visitors a month, work a full-time job, and have a compressed courseload for school, and I still manage to have time to do other things.

Cast Time Stop (for 1d4+1 rounds)

Or if you can't cast level 9 arcane magic, learn your lesson for next time: Procrastination is the thief of time, but he won't give any back.

@HSaabedra: Wait... so you're saying that if I manage my time well, I won't need to stop time?

Make a time machine???/

Um... HOW DO I DO THAT?

Please, I'd like a simple solution. Building a time machine would be more epic than being able to stop time itself! As a matter of fact, the question then (if I had a time machine) would be much more sensible:

Me (with a time machine): How do I stop time (WITH THE TIME MACHINE THAT I ALREADY HAVE HERE WITH ME RIGHT NOW)?

See, a time machine is nice, but can it do other things besides go back and forth in time? Can it just stand still in the same time forever? If so,that's the time machine I need...

@HSaabedra: Wait... so you're saying that if I manage my time well, I won't need to stop time?

Yes. I used to have similar issues with time, and I just broke down tasks in order of importance. My day goes something like this:
6AM-8:30AM: PhoneNews/Encyclopedia management
10AM-3PM: Part-time job
3PM-4: Lunch
4:30-6PM: School
7PM-9PM:????????
9pm-2AM PhoneNews/Encyclopedia Work

Yes. Manage your time well while working efficiently and you'd be surprised at how much free time that gives you, even though you may have a fairly large workload. Of course, it can't be expected of you to manage time like Immanuel Kant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immanuel_Kant#Biography), but a certain degree of control in one's life brings about the control of one's time.

Myself, I read some neuroscience textbooks to limit the amount of time I sleep to nothing more than the necessary and always wake up with a clear idea of the day's events. Rigid discipline like that is not for everyone, however.

Hmm... I usually get less than that and you still seem more efficient than me... Me thinks... that this is not so good. -_-;

Wait a minute... now that I think about it... I've been on AN a little too much today...

8AM-5PM or later: Full time job
12PM-1: Lunch

This week i've got 4 graphics jobs lined up and they are due Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and next Saturday.

I'm usaully so busy I have no time to date or have any free time.

So...

you only have a little bit of time to do something and you waste it here? ^_^

I don't know. Try that Matrix bullet time thing. If you can move fast enough to dodge bullets, you can move fast enough to learn a Sonata.

Fly to America. If you leave at 5 PM your time, you'll arrive at 3 PM our time, essentially giving yourself 2 extra hours. Then fly back to Japan going the same direction around the globe and you'll get another 2 or 3 hours, woot!

I can tell you one thing, you won't learn anything if you try to cram it all in in the last week or so, most of our Learning is done while we are asleep :P

Ok first things first, If you ask Chuck Norris all he needs to do is look at a clock and it will stop for him.

Second of all that oven would melt at the first site of Chuck Norris.

I see this thread, I look for 5 mins to find that picture, I find that picture only to learn that you have posted it.

Lord Timaeus, you have supplied me with enough despair to fuel the main character of SZS when he comes into contact with Reidar.

Yeah, I think I'm addicted to AN.

Sometimes I browse for a complete hour without even posting anything. There are lots of hours I've spent here that would've been used better elsewhere. I admit this.

i suggest you start with this

you'll need it if you're going to build a time machine.
