It would have been easier to see the bear if they didn't make him wear black. He blended in with the black team.

To be blunt, the cyclist would've been dead.

Got 13 as well. I still missed the bear, but I assure you my aim will improve the next time.

Brilliant!
I got 13, but missed the bear even though I was aware of a black mass moving across the screen. Discounted it, of course.

I missed the bear only in on an account that it was black and fit in with the black team.

So much for awareness.
Anyway, that was stupid. Typical bicycle goons, using misleading questions and psychological tricks to make it look like everyone else is some kind of airhead.
Also that "bear" didn't look like a bear at all. And the only realistic comparison to that scenario would be driving at night and a bicyclist wearing all black with a bike painted all black starts bobbing and weaving through traffic while UFOs buzz around overhead.

This is what I thought too, it would be dumb for the biker to be riding at night dressed in black and expect everyone to see them. In fact I've almost hit people becuase of this.
It's not my fault I can't see something I'm obviously not going to be capable of seeing. Especially at first glance.
and UFOs don't need to be there, since the guy is black with everything else just that alone would make it difficult to be aware of.

I remember this from the Perception chapter in my Psyc Text. Although, there were two three-person teams (black and white), and it was a gorilla. Half the viewers didn't notice the gorilla.
In another experiment, a man is giving directions to a construction worker; two persons come between them carrying a large sheet of wood, and the construction worker is switched out with another guy. The man is so wrapped up in his task that he fails to notice that there was a switch.
It's called change blindless. Oh, and I got 13, too...not that it's important. ;)
