from ANN:
The Canada Border Services Agency has ruled in a October-December 2007 list (released this month) that the American re-releases of the hentai anime series Cool Devices and Words Worth (pictured at right) qualify as obscene under subsection 163(8) of Canada's Criminal Code. Thus, these titles may not be legally brought into the country. Critical Mass Video, the adult label of Right Stuf Entertainment, brought out the Cool Devices: The DVD Collection with all 11 episodes of the series last September. It was previously available on VHS from NuTech Digital. Words Worth was also originally licensed by NuTech; Media Blasters' adult-oriented Kitty Media division released the entire series on a single DVD on July 17.
Other prohibited titles on the list include Eros Comix's Domin-8 Me!, Eros Comix's Sex Warrior Isane Extreme Number 22 and 23, Eros Comix's Super Taboo XXX, Icarus Publishing's Juicy Fruits, NuTech's Five Card Episode 2 and 3, Kitty Media's G-spot Express, Japananime's Hot Juicy Teacher, NuTech's Inma Seiden: The Legend of the Beast of Lust Episode 2 and 3, NuTech's Mija "Demon of Lust" Volume 2, Kitty Media's Elufina - Servant Princess, NuTech's Bizarre Cage Act 2, NuTech's Black Mail Volume 2, and Critical Mass Video's Venus Files.
The agency did rule about 15 Eros Comix titles, Central Park Media's Dominion Tank Police 1 and 2, NuTech's Imma Youjo: The Erotic Temptress Volumes I and III, JapanAnime's Legend of the Black Eye - Kokudohoh, NuTech's Kowaremono: Fragile Hearts Heaven 1 and 2, NuTech's Bizarre Cage Act 3, Kitty Media's The Hills Have Size, Anime 18's Venus 5, and Pink Pineapple's Welcome to Pia Carrot!! 2 as "admissible."
Criminal Code Subsection 163(8) reads: "For the purposes of this Act, any publication a dominant characteristic of which is the undue exploitation of sex, or of sex and any one or more of the following subjects, namely, crime, horror, cruelty and violence, shall be deemed to be obscene."

And I always thought of Canada as being more open-minded than the US . . .

Wow. Don't normally post about hentai, but that's a shocker. I too thought Canada was more open-minded than the US.
Truthfully, I'm surprised no one's lead a brigade to do that here in the US yet.

Hentai/Ero-anime is still a fringe area in the US. Unless the soccer moms get upset about it, it will probably just go on under the radar . . .

Canada has a ton of things on their ban chopping block. From adult books, to firearms. I am willing to bet they censor more TV than the US does too.

It's okay to own porn inside Canada, and to print it there, but not to import it—the importation law is (apparently) stricter than the internal obscenity law(s). (Icarus Publishing had a shipment of books seized when they were sent back to the printer, Quebecor, even thought the books had already been in Canada once.)
This is not new—see the "canada hentai.com" thread (http://www.animenation.net/forums/showthread.php?t=197891). It's just the quarterly update.

I know people that send stuff to Canada (like an empty HD) and it stays in customs there for a week.

Guys...I don't mind you all being pissed at this law..but, did you have to insult Canada that way? I mean, I'm Canadian...I dislike this stupid ban also, but I don't feel proud that all of you are saying Canada sucks. We do not suck. We provided freedom, free schooling, free health care, and many Canadians have adopted homeless children from other countries. And are you all saying we suck because we banned cartoon porn? Though Canada has done many stupid things, we've done many good things too. And why always compare us to the U.S.? There's so many countries out there, and we just HAVE to be compared to the U.S.?
I'm not saying I hate you all for dissing Canada because I'm an extremist...but saying Canada sucks by naming all the bad things we've done in order to protect our country is not appealing. Yes, we've banned anime porn. I'm old enough for it, but kids always have access to these things. Canada was trying to be safe about it. Besides, there's always downloading online...or watching them.

from what i gather, its not that they have banned hentai outright, its just the more exreme titles, so it shouldnt cause too many problems

This isn't really news. Canada has had strict porn import laws for years.
And kindly piss off with the potshots aimed at my country.
None of you live in the Land of Perfection either. :/

Once less on the street is fine by me. Have fun up there
Go back to grade 5 DARE classes. My God you're ignorant. You'd rather have someone die than smoke a plant that is many times more safe than alcohol, and a billion times safer than guns. Weed killed anyone, ever? Nope. Guns? Yes.
Citizens owning guns is just a recipe for disaster, proof in point look at major U.S. cities vs. Canadian ones. Hundreds of percent more gun crime.
Truthfully, I'm surprised no one's lead a brigade to do that here in the US yet.
Answerman getting Nymphet banned.

Uh huh. Sure.
Try to watch Trailer Park Boys or Kenny vs. Spenny in Amerikkka, both are cut to **** where as here they're fine.
What adult books? The U.S. doesn't allow bukkake porn, we do.
Yes, we make it harder to get guns so we don't have to hear about school shootings every month. Oh lordy, what a bad plan that was on our part.
I know people that send stuff to Canada (like an empty HD) and it stays in customs there for a week.
That's just outright ********. I get stuff from the states in 3 days.
Post.
What do you expect? They're American, dude. The people who are bashing us are gun crazy simple minded idiots.

No, hentai isn't banned, neither is normal porn.

OK, let's not turn this into a drug debate.
and your friend doe snot NEED marijuana to survive, there are pills and patches that have the THC that she can take. Pot is very bad for you, both mentally and physically. it has 5 times as much tar as cigereetes .
And I work with drug addicts so don't say **** about pot not being bad jackass

Wow. Don't normally post about hentai...
Me either, but this thread...
Come on guys! This isn't about "who sucks more: America or Canada?" This is about Canadian's right to import hardcore animated pornography! (And Dominion: Tank Police, which I didn't even know was porn) English/French hybrid people have a right to fap too!
But to be serious for just a moment.

(Icarus Publishing had a shipment of books seized when they were sent back to the printer, Quebecor, even thought the books had already been in Canada once.)
That's really, really weird. Maybe it's a tax thing? Is there a high level of tax on domestically printed porn in Canada?

Convent of Hell is another book that was seized at the border by Canadian officials. This seems to be a common practice.

Enough flaming. This thread isn't about US vs. Canada, this is discussion about banned hentai titles in Canada. If you can't keep discussion civil, this thread will be gone, and infractions and/or bannings will be handed out!! Thank you.
Infractions have already been given out for what has occurred so far. You shouldn't have to wait for a warning thread, it's your responsibility to know and abide by the rules, especially if you have been here for a long time!!

hasn't Canada already baned Loli?

February 26th, 2008, 09:06 PM
LOL.
Anyone who thinks that this will be a big deal is ignorant.
I've brought many of the "banned" hentai titles over the border, have had shotacon doujinshi delivered to me in the mail, and see most of these "banned titles" on the shelves of my local anime store every time I go there.
They'd have a field day with the cartoon porn on my computer. Shotacon, incest, scat, watersports, rape, violence, furry porn, tentacle/monster rape, and a little of everything else.

Why would they ban Welcome to Pia Carrot? It wasn't explicit at all.

Note that I believe Canada, unlike Australia, does not have a film censorship board, and is more lenient about what may be shown/sold inside the country.

Dude hey you and me traded words not too long ago about
australia banning most hentai but i'm here to tell you as a canadian
that this thread is mostly bullsh*t I can order as much hentai
as I want and I don't get hassled even though I don't order lolicon but
from what you told me about aussie is that even some non lolicon titles
get banned but really canadas laws are way less strict than austrailias
most of those cases of people getting busted with hentai usually had to
do with some actual child pornography and some extreme lolicon titles and
there ain't that much reported cases of this from what i've seen and heard.
