Hey guys if anyone of you know Hayao Miyazaki (he is one of the best animators of world) he made this animations:"Princess Mononoke", "Spirited Away", "Howl's Moving Castle".
If you saw them tell me did you like them or no,t if not why?
And have any advice on good animations?

Just about everyone here knows who he is and most have seen at least some of his works (or things he was involved in).

I liked some, but could leave others. I really enjoyed the Cat Returns and Whispers of the Heart, as well as Princess Mononoke. I didnt care for Nausicaa, or my neighbor totoro. Howls Moving castle was decent, and spirited away i could take or leave.

I think if you like his works, you might like Dennou Coil which is a lot like his work but with a deeper/mature plotline (even tho it is based on children). I heard people say its Miyazaki meets Ghost in the Shell and i think thats a good desciption.

Only saw princess Mononoke and that was it. I loved it though. I just couldn't get around to watching more of his movies. The animation just got....well...... too ugly to me honestly (Yes, I see the red dot on my head). The character's faces (The younger ones) tended to have round jellybean-ish cheeks and .... man, it is just too hard for me to get into his style.

My favorite Miyazaki movie is probably Princess Mononoke, but I love all his films. They always look so beautiful, and have so much heart in them. :)

I have never heard of this Miyazaki guy. I'm sure if I never heard of him then he must not be that big.

Nah, I love his work. Princess Mononoke is my second favorite movie. I like all his movies, Future Boy Conan is really great too.

Miyazaki didn't do Cat Returns and Whispers of the Heart...

LOL, people who don't even know what anime is love Miyazaki films, that's how good the guy is. ^_^

I've seen...Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and I have one of them on DVR that I need to watch, but I forget which one. My all time favorite is Totoro, though Mononoke is a close second.

I adore his films. I watched Howl's Moving Castle (absolute favorite!), Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the sky, My neighbour Totoro, Kiki's dilivery service and Nausicaa of the valley of the wind.
I love every single one of them, those films are must-seens.

I agree with you. I liked Princess Mononoke, but I couldn't get into any of the other films for pretty much the same reasons as you.

Even Howl's moving castle?

Yeah, I saw some of it but couldn't bring myself to finish it.

Come on, the animation of all those movies was good. Not fantastic but, good enough. And the story makes up for the "bad" animation imo.

I didn't say it was bad, just not my style.

Yes, exactly! I am in awe of his story telling and style of animation. His stories tend to have some heart warming moments or at least characters. They appeal to me on a basic human level. Miyazaki covers the human condition and it's relation to nature well. Spirited Away was my least favorite, that being said, I still liked it a lot.

This year, he's putting out a new movie animated by hand. For that alone he has scored major points with me. You can tell quality hand made goods, which the artist pours their soul into, they give me a defferent feeling.

Foxy, if I may, I would recommend each and every one of H. Miyazaki's films, every last one I've seen has impressed/inspired me. Art and story, heart and soul, this is Miyazaki's medium.

Mr. Miyazaki, I salute you sir!

Well i saw many of his animations. I'm just wondering if anybody ever managed to make an anime that would be close enough of Miyazakis stile and quality.

The Girl Who Lept through Time has a very Miazaki like feel to it. If you haven't seen it, I recomend you find a way to see it. It will be released (in the US) by Bandai Ent sometime later this year.

Yes, I've seen the three that the OP mentioned and thought they were all very well done, although, I went through a period where I couldn't stand watching Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi because I saw it like 8 times in a single week.

Miyazaki Hayao has a dedication that's rare in the anime world; I can't imagine any of his contemporaries who didn't like a product that would stay up all night and re-animate the thing themselves. That's to be admired.

While I've seen a fair bit of Miyazaki's catalog/filmography, I can't really call myself a fan. I've never been disappointed by his work, but there's only a handful of films I'll track down nor do I sing praises from mountaintops. Since I've not seen anyone else recommend it, I'll recommend my personal favorite Miyazaki movie: Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro. Any recommendation of Nausicaa, Laputa, or Totoro can't be bad, either.

Read the Nausicaa manga. If you can find it.

...personally, I'm not a fan of Miyazaki's work.....I don't like how the art looks and the characters in all the films look pretty much the same.....if you like that kinda then this might help:

here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_Ghibli) is a list of Studio Ghibli stuff.....there's lots...

No flame baiting please. Both Walt Disney and Hayao Miyazaki are great artists and animators. The thread's topic is specifically about Hayao Miyazaki's works, not to compare them to other animators.

Back on topic. I'm a huge fan of Princess Mononoke. I thought it was one of the greatest films ever produced!! From its spectacular animation to its incredible storyline, I loved what this story tried to imply about the spirits of nature trying to clensing itself from the pollutiion people have done to it. It was so memorable, and I thought it was one of the greatest anime films ever made. On a side note, if you liked watching this movie, you'll also enjoy Earth Girl Arjuna. This story wasn't produced by Miyazaki, but its an OVA that has many similarities about what humans have done to nature and how nature tries to heal itself. Watching it really moved me.

I also liked Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away!! The art and animation on both films were fantastic and the stories memorable to watch. I look forward to seeing Kiki's Delivery Service one day. I'd recommend watching these films to kids.
