View Full Version : Feelings about skypia saga

I just finished the Skypia saga for the first time and I'm currently on episode 210. Was it just me, or did it kind of suck? I mean, it was still enjoyable to watch, but none of it seemed as good as the Baroque Works arc. Like Crocodile seemed more menacing with a better fight with Luffy, and the over all story seemed more convincing where you cared what happened to Vivi's people rather than the Shandians (which I found quite boring). Also, It seemed to me like most of the the Nakama didn't get much screen time for fights.
For someone who is caught up to the most recent episode or manga, how are the other sagas so far? Which ones do you find to be the best? Thanks for your opinions.

Enel is the best villain in One Piece /thread.

I enjoyed Skypiea quite a bit. Needless to say, I probably enjoyed Arabasta, Water 7, and Enies Lobby more though. You can't deny that it was quite satisfying seeing Luffy finally beat the crap out of Enel, even though he ends up melding that golden ball on Luffy's arm and incapacitating him for a bit.

None of One Piece sucks that I'v seen.
I havn't seen all of the arc, watching it on TV every Saturday. They removed the angel wings though because church's would protest. This arc is getting interesting. Its clearly not as epic as Baroque Works arc from what I'v seen but still very enjoyable.
Joking about the wings, only 4Kids would do that :-P

There's a few really crappy filler episodes right after the Enies Lobby arc ends. I seriously kept going away from one episode and doing other stuff. Took me over a hour just to finish it and I just skipped the two episodes afterwards. Of course that obviously doesn't count since it's filler.

I liked the Skypia arc. Granted, it was my least favorite of the major arcs, (East Blue, Arabasta, Enies Lobby, etc.) but it wasn't a bad arc. Enel made a decent villain I felt. Not as good as Crocodile, Lucci, or Moria, but better than most of the East Blue villains.

The ending of skypia arc is touching to me, especially when I think of Norland, Calgara, and that snake. T-T Alabasta arch has a grander feels when it comes to fighting though since it is about the whole kingdom is on the edge of war. I am still hate Arlong the most though, followed by Spandam in a 2nd place. -"-

"read the mangas fool."
You're right. We shouldn't take offense. Your grasp of the English language is so bad that we shouldn't take anything you say seriously. Remember, we capitalize the first word in our sentences.
Anyways, having read the manga and watched the anime, I can definately say I prefer the anime. You know, that's where opinion comes into play.
Skypia is fine in the anime version. I'm currently watching the dub on Toonami and it is just awesome.

take a joke and find something better to snipe at me for. i was only stating an opinion, but yes, perhaps the fool comment was a touch over the line.

I do agree that Skypiea... actually, I think it's supposed to be Sky Pier, was the least exciting of the major arcs, and it did get a tad bit boring during some parts, such as the Ball path, but it did have a good story that lead up to a pretty climactic ending. Luffy's "message" on a cloud to Mon Pier and friends was a very powerful scene, in my opinion.

Maybe it's the fact that the Skypia arc is really the first arc that FUNI had over 4kids, but I find the Skypia arc to be superior to everything else I've seen. As a matter to fact, I'm 100% sure it's because of the 4kids dub. They really did make everything look like a joke, and though I watched most of One Piece since the beginning, I was able to keep a head upon myself.
I think I need to see the arcs prior Skypia uncut when FUNI releases them so I can get a better feel on the past arcs. For now, I'll continue to watch the Skypia arc on Toonami.

What? Oh, I wasn't talking about the dub. I meant the original Japanese version in full.

The Davy Fight Back is a fun little arc after Sky Island that I enjoyed a lot more. Sky Island was great, but I enjoyed all the build up to it a hell of a lot better and it was nowhere near as good as the Arlong/Log Island arcs.
Water 7 kicks ***, but around the episode 270 mark or so you can tell they are racing the manga and the pacing slows down tremendously. Anime wise, Sky Island is better.
When I think something "sucks" it's horrible and unwatchable to me. And One Piece is neither of those by a long shot.

Yeah... I never got into the One Piece fansubs, so now I'm just waiting for FUNI to release the DVDs. I'm willing to pay for One Piece because it is one of my favorite shows in a while (well, long running shows).

Yeah, I definitely support favorite series, and favorite series are pretty much the only anime that I watch. It would be harder to keep up otherwise.
