I was surprised no-one had posted this yet.
Then four officers from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canada’s national police force, enter the frame. They walk toward Dziekanski and surround him. He turns away from them, raising his hands with his back to them.
In one hand he holds what looks like a stapler.
The police close in on Dziekanski and stun him repeatedly with a Taser device. Dziekanski screams and writhes on the floor, and the policemen pile on top of him and pin him down. Within minutes he falls still.

Staplers = Serious Business. He might've ... poked very small holes... in the exposed skin of security personnel... if they stood still to let him do it...

...the stapler can still be a deadly weapon, you know. especially if you got a full clip of them staples...hooo... look out, he's firing staples!
which actually have a flight path of a couple of inches. not even enough to harm a fly SITTING in front of you.

Interestingly enough, I went to a garage sale a week or two ago, and it had to be interupted because her genius of a son stapled himself, and couldn't get it out of his hand. I had a stable through my thumb before, it wasn't nice.

"I'm gonna bust a clip in yo ***! A paper clip!"
I was actually reminded of an episode of the Simpsons, where Mister Burns has Smithers attack Principal Skinner with a stapler.
"I'm sorry sir, this was all I could find. Take that!"

My brother was talking about this as he caught it on the news...
He was saying that it sounded like the police were desperately trying to play down the fact it was caught on video, and not trust what can be seen in it, for some reason...
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/11/15/taser_death_video/
Carr told a press conference on Wednesday: "It's just one piece of evidence, one person's view. There are many people that we have spoken to. What I urge is that those watching the video, take note of that. Put what they've seen aside for the time being. And wait to hear the totality of the evidence at the time of the inquest."

He had it coming. He was throwing computers and chairs around, and not complying with orders. If he would of done what he was told, he would of been fine.

I don't care what language you speak, a police officer pointing a weapon at you is pretty universal.
People have been known to die after being tazed. Not nearly as often as after being shot, which is the officers other option.
Best choice all around, don't do something that requires armed officers to subdue you. Life is easier that way.

QFFT!
you know, if the guy spoke english, even a little, or a bit of french. he could of avoided trouble I bet. All the better reason to learn the language of the country you live in. This is why law enforcement likes their officers to know a bit of Spanish.

See here. The police are human. That is what police haters like you seem to forget. You point and scream at every little mistake, and cry about it.

Admit it. You just liked him b/c of his 'stache.
As for the incident, I tend to side with the law in cases of people who have been warned the first time...
...but there are times when 43 bullets can be a bit excessive. ^^;;

I respect my neighborhood police officers. I appreciate the work they do preventing, thwarting, and pursuing criminals.
I just have a vendetta against my local law enforcement. Their local crime-solving record is pretty dismal, but they seem to do a damn good job sitting in their squad cars out of sight, zipping after me in time to issue me a ticket for going four over the speed limit.
A flaw of humanity is obtaining the potential human traits that make someone an ***.
That said, I posted my thread not to hate on the 5-oh, but to share a ridiculous news story.

You do know that traffic stops are the prime way of them finding...more dangerous criminals, right?
And after all that, maybe you should learn to, i don't know, not speed?

If it was a red Swingline stapler then can I understand why it was such a big deal.

Just wanted to post the raw video from the incident, to place things into perspective. But maybe it won't. You'll see him throw one chair and a computer and it'll place the nail in the coffin for you. "OMFZ he totally deserves two tazings and 4 RCMPs to subdue him with a knee in the back of his neck."

It is standard procedure to use more than 1 person to subdue a suspect. I am willing to bet you have never tried to properly restrain a person that is fighting you.
And placing a foot or knee on the neck or back or where ever helps control the person

Since some peaple didn't actually take the time to read the full article ill make some points:
1: He was Polish and visiting his mother, the man had no experiance with the english language for those saying he should have listened to police.
2: the airport messed up and he was there for 10 hours without any means of communicating with anyone. obviously any of you would have acted agitated in that situation.
3: the man did not do drugs or alcohal, just thought i'd mention this for "some" peaple who seem to think you can't normally be killed by a tazer.
4: He was tazered twice, once when he was already on the ground stunned from the first one.
Normally I just reply to threads like this but i thought the fact that the man died made it a rather important issue.

1) If I was in a foreign country, I would LEARN THE LANGUAGE!
4) A gun, or gun liek object pointed at you is pretty much a universal symbol of "get on the ground and show your hands." something along those lines.

So you would learn the entire english language just to visit your mom for 3 days? or if you were traveling around Europe you would learn French, Germen, etc for everyplace you visit?

I would learn the basics.
like greetings, and general things "Wheres the bathroom" "I need help" "Don't taze me bro" things like that
Or, should I just assume that every body everywhere else will know my language when I visit THEIR country.

Patrol officer's don't investigate crimes... that is what the detectives are for, if they need to keep a eye out for a suspect they will do that when they pull people over
