...it's time for a report card thread.

This is mine:

English 9 Honors: A-
Physical Science 9: C+ (because my hatred for science surpasses my love for Alex)
American Studies 9 Honors: A-
Algebra 1B: B
French I: A
Computer Integration: A
21st Century Living: A
Physical Education 9: A
Drama: A (there's some irony for you)
Concert Choir: A
Reading Requirement: 0 (I did read the books though. I'm just too lazy to write them down)

Quarter GPA: 3.546

I made Honors.

Yes I hate all my smart friends right now. Nick was all like "OMGWTF 3.94 THIS SUCKS! /wrist" And I kicked him. Yes, Kyuu. I did. In the leg.
And Don Bullock (Kyuu might know him since he was in Math Club last year) got a 3.955 and was in a pissy mood.

SERIOUSLY. WTF @ SMART KIDS?
Kyuu better not complain if she got a 3.97 or something...

So.

Post your report cards if you got them.

Well I'm in Canada. Our marking system is different, for us an A- is 80% not 90.
Well, it's not like it matters for me, but we go by percent here, not by letter grades, so I got a
90% in physics
90% in Art
92% in Social Sciences.

I have to say I'm sorta slacking off as it is my last semester. However, I already applied to university with a GPA of 3.7, so this doesn't really matter.

Music Theory-A+
English 10 Honors-A
Global 10 Honors-A
Chemistry-A
Gym-A+
Spanish-A
Band-A+
Math-A

Yeah. I went there. :P

I dunno my GPA. I made High Honors though.

Ah, this conversation brings me back. I just dug up one of my old report cards, where I was also on the honor roll. Of course, high school in Maine is a little different* than in the rest of the country...

Improvised Shelters = A
Making Fire = A+
Canoeing = A
Fishing / Small Game = B
Large Game = B+
Edible Foraging = A-

I'd have done better in F/SG, but they marked off on my mid-term for using M-80s and a net.

* Okay, it's a joke, but not so far from the truth as you might imagine. I remember one of the pre-Christmas-break activities for my 5th grade class was for all the students to go outside, make a small shelter, gather the materials, and make a small survival fire. We were taught basic winter survival in school, because in Maine, you really have to know certain things. There were even Winter Survival courses at UMaine, as I recall.

I didn't just make this thread to talk about me. I seem to remember what happened last year when I made that thread about me.

@Bernie: Well, I can take different Honors courses for different subjects. I'm a history geek so I took history. I know big words and I write so I took English.
Math is way hard for me as is so I stayed in 1B.
I hate Science so I'm in regular science.

Hey nice score! I only got a B- in Canoing(yes its spelled without the 'e') because I failed the exam where you have to paddle against the current while your teacher pretends being an injured passenger...so you gotta do it all by yourself.

Off course I heard American Canoing classes were way easier than Canadian ones.

I envy your foraging skills Desslock.

We also had Wilderness Navigation skills... I ACED that sucker! A+ all the way!

Actually, it is possible to get higher than a 4.0. I have friends that got above that when they were in high school. Advanced classes are weighted and allow for a GPA greater than 4.0. I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

AP gov - 94 (thanks to EC from working the county exec debate)
Religion 12 advanced (taken through a local Jesuit college) - 99

*sigh*
Should be pretty self explanatory, but OK.

Honors English: English for smartass random kids who use big words. Kyuu does not raise her hand in this class.
Physical Science: Note that it is not Honors. I hate Science. This is science about...um...matter. Yeah, that. And mass and volume and gases and liquids and ****.
Honors American Studies: ...history for smart kids. Yeah it's got a huge name but basically it's Honors History.
Algebra 1B: Math for dumb kids. I mean everyone else in the grade is in Algebra II. I feel like I fail at life when I sit in this class.
French I: Learning the French language for beginners. I have a 107 average in this class.
Computer Integration: Learn how to make spreadsheets. That's about it so far.
21st Century Living: How to thrive in the 21st Century. We made pants. We're doing the Holiday Tea. And that's the class where I get me and Lord Timaeus's love child robot baby. Basically, it's the more...housewifey...branch of Home Ec.
Physical Education 9: GYM. GAH I HATE THIS CLASS SO FREAKING MUCH I HATE ARCHERY AND I HATE WEIGHT ROOM.
Drama: Learn how to act and what it takes to put on a play and whatnot. We're doing pantomime right now.
Concert Choir: The crappy choir that you don't have to try out to get into.
Reading Requirement: Every year you have to read 10 books to get into the next grade. Then you have to write them down. I did read the books.

Does that explain it well enough?

Once I graduated high school, they implemented it so that an A in an AP class was worth more than an A in an honors class; in part it was to lower the number of valedictorians in future graduating classes.

My district, however, also used a 6.0 scale, in which Alice Catherine would not be able to get a perfect GPA, even if she got straight A's in every class.

I'd appreciate it very much if you stopped trying to pass me off as some smart @$$. It's really annoying and really gets on my nerves. And so you know, Nick and Don are probably just concerned about college. Your GPA counts now, so every .oo1 counts.

Also, it wasn't a math club, it was Math Counts, a competition for mostly logic crap. I ranked second from our school at 12 out of 90-some. And yeah, I was pissed because I missed the cut off for the sudden death round. (sudden death math competition, its actually quite fun to watch.)

The same teacher who taught that is teaching my Geo class, and she's annoyed with me for 'not working up to my potential'. It's quite the joy when you try as hard as you can and yet you still are lost in the world of proving why some imaginary person took which train because of what variable and how many pieces of pizza you can get by using exactly six lines (20-something).

And If I got a 3.97 I probably would of keeled over in shock.

By the way... By never raising my hand, what are you trying to imply? I raise it more than you attempt to, I'm no dumb @$$ either. I actually half enjoy English, while you rant in your corner about science.

No, you don't. Don't give me that crap. I raise my hand every time I know the answer. Stop falling asleep in class and you'll notice that. I respect Mr. Phelan highly and I think it's quite rude that you don't raise your hand when he asks the question. Rather, you just blurt out the answer. How old are you? 9?
And I rant about science because it's right after English and half the time I don't have my homework done.

Keep in mind it was your irritation over a stupid game that made the teacher keep us both after class, and keep in mind it was you who joined Amanda and me. You could of just as easily joined someone else's group and not of ruined the point of the game.
YOU keep in mind that I told you that I was uppity that morning. I drank too much caffine and I'll also have you know I didn't take my medication. And Mr. Phelan said we had to be in groups of 4 or 5 and everyone else already had 5 and you guys only had 2.

And I said that thing about you liking Alex because it's so obviously true I can't believe that you smart kids don't see it yet. You might not want to admit it to yourself, but it's true.
If you like him, you can have him. I wouldn't get on your case about it. The only time I get on a girl's case about liking the same guy I like is because I'm not confident that she can take care of him.
I'm pretty sure that not only can you take good care of Alex but you can straighten him out and make him into the man he wishes he was.

And I'm making myself an idiot for saying this (which according to the title, isn't new), but why don't you stop mentioning me, Alex, Nick or anyone else you have no right to blab about, and I won't have a reason to object, counter or make a mockery of both of us.

Also a side note. How come every time you get a detention, you focus the rest of your energy to seriously tick me off (which in retrospect, is fairly easy if you know which buttons to push, which apparently you do)?

And in short reply to your rant, yes actually, I used to act like I was nine. But now that I'm fourteen and I upgraded to ten. Didn't I ever explain the 917 thing? And. I. Don't. Have. A. Crush. On. Alex.

Let anyone who feels like it pummel me into tiny pieces and feed me into a roaring fire if I'm lying, and if by some miracle I'm still alive when the fire dies, strap me to a rocket and let me disintegrate while leaving Earth's atmosphere.

When I was in HS (a nerdy HS at that) we didn't even talk about our grades. It was just pass or fail and we moved on with our conversations.
In HS, I don't remember any of us discussing grades at all. In fact, I can't ever remember discussing them in college when they might've actually mattered.

It's almost amazing to watch anyone get this worked up over anything in high school. Don't they realize that by the time the tenth reunion rolls along, nobody's even gona remember this crap?

Seriously, Alice - think of the most embarrassing thing you've ever done in school. Think of something that everybody knew about, and that everyone talked about, and for which everyone made fun of you. Now move the clock hands forward ten years, and almost nobody will remember it, even when you remind them. That's how unimportant high school is. The few people that remember it will think, "yeah, that was kinda funny" and the most you'll think of it was "I can't believe I was such an idiot".

As long as you don't end up in prison, nobody's dead, everyone's got all their limbs intact, and you've left your options open for post-secondary education, not one thing you do in high school matters. Believe it.

Actually LD some people do remember every single thing you do... <lame story feel free to ignore> Like this one time in I was talking to my music teacher (who I'm still pretty close with) and I happened to be drinking water as she was trying to hook me up with girls (well mentioning their name and seeing my reaction). Anyway so she says a friend's name and I spit out water all over the place, and now whenever I hang out with my former orchestra mates they mention that name in the hopes of making me spit out my drink...<end lame story> So yeah i mean it has only been about 5 years and they still make fun of me about it. Damn them.

The only thing pre-meds seem to want to talk about is their GPA's or how they're going to study for their next test. Several I've met do it all the time, and they do it loudly. It's rather embarassing if you're a biology major.

I prefer talking about my professors, since, as a Classics major, they are all crazy.

DRAMA SHOULD BE A CREATIVE ART, AMIRITE?

Well, EXCUSE ME for thinking I did a good enough job this time to warrant some street cred on the internet.

NOTE: Street cred on the internetz is like saying 'lol' or 'omg' in real life. NEVER attempt it.

As long as you don't end up in prison, nobody's dead, everyone's got all their limbs intact, and you've left your options open for post-secondary education, not one thing you do in high school matters. Believe it.
And if nobody gets pregnant.

Me and my friends say 'lol' all the time. It's usually used to denote something that is pathetically laughable. There's also the sarcastic 'lol' to say something is NOT funny.

LAST THING AND THEN I'M DONE TALKING ABOUT THAT WHINY LITTLE POSER EMO ***** KYUU:

Right now in my house things are getting really really bad. She doesn't believe that because she thinks I want everyone to feel sorry for me. No, I don't. I just want my friends to support me. If you think I ***** too much, then that's your opinion. But since you and Amanda had to leave the damn table I had NO ONE to sit with.

Right then. I showed my dad my report card. Wasn't a good idea...
Why did you withdraw from calculus, MonkeyBoy?

................................... :PLEASE STAND BY:...................................

Darn it, my parents put it in their files already... and I have no clue where that is...

I know I got A's in Math, Band, Jazz Band, Choral, Vocal Jazz...
and B's in Science, English, and Phys-Ed

Of course, I'm taking Advanced courses, so my marks are lower then they usually are...

man, regular schools offer soooo much more than the highschool i went to.

and most of the people in my class SAID they were gonna move away, but ended up staying around here and taking stuff like liberal arts at the sh*tty community college by me. i only stayed here because i didnt have enough money to move out. cept next year its set in stone that im moving away.

i had to go to highschool with a bunch of pieces of human sh*t.
