I really enjoy studying military history and love songs like The Trooper and High Water Mark. Songs that narrate military history. Does anyone like these as well? Can you recommend any to me?

These are the ones I can think of right now:

The Glorious Burden(album by Iced Earth)
The Trooper
Aces High
Run to the Hills
The Longest Day
The Pilgrim

Run to the hills was a military song? Which battle is it based of of?

It's about the destruction of the Native Americans.

We fought them hard, we fought them well
Out on the plains, we gave them hell

Soldier blue in the barren wastes
Hunting and killings their game

The blue clad U.S cavalry fighting Native warriors and such. That counts as a military song to me. I'm talking about anything about war, armies, battles, courage and carnage. Songs that narrate such historical events. The Pilgrim is about the crusades.

My favourites are smoothbore musket era. Anyhing Napoleonic would be extraordinarily exciting for me.

I wouldn't be able to help you with metal songs, but if you're willing to accept other genre's I might be able to help you.

Trefellin, can you handle melodic death metal? If so, check out Warbreed (http://warbreed.com.ar/eng_version/main.html)--they're mainly about WW2 events. I learned some interesting information from their songs, such as the mystery surrounding the Spandau prison in Berlin.

Edit: Kenshinbebop, I'd be interested in hearing your recommendations.

Sure I'll take other genres, I don't just listen to metal all the time.

I don't really listen to death metal at all but I'll give anything a try.

Grave Digger's Albums, Tunes Of War and Knights Of The Cross, were about Scotland struggle against British rule and the Crusades respectively.

Morgana Lefay's album, Maleficium, was about the Spanish Inquisition.

The title track of Mötorhead's 1918 album is about WWI

gods, there are alot of metal songs about history, I can't even remember them all

If you want desriptions:
One is about a soldier in an unknown war(to me atleast), pretty much on his deathbed.
AATWT is about a battle, namely bibilical.
Apocolypse Please is like Eve Of Destruction, talking about the end of the world.
Fortunate Son isn't directly about war, but it is symbolic and themes war.
PIB is in reference to the Vietnam War.
The Soldiering Life...taek a guess.
Buffalo Soldier is about the Buffalo Soldiers of the American Civil War

I thought of some more:
Civil War-Guns and Roses
BattleField Requiem-Dragonforce (A midevil battle anthem)

Disposable Heroes by Metallica is about soldiers in war, and that song is awesome.
