It depends on what it was. If owning two of them was practical- a pair of really comfortable jeans or shoes, or anything else I could really use, then probably, but if it were something like a second copy of a CD, game, movie, or book, then no. I work too hard for my money to buy stuff I can't use or don't need.

I own lots of duplicate products. Most of my clothing and footwear is identical due to the fact that I hate clothes shopping.

I own 5 Playstation 2 consoles - three PAL region (one of which is broken), one North American and one Asian region. Three Gamecubes - two PAL ones and one US/JAP modded. Several games I have both the Japanese and the subsequent English release.

I own several copies of certain albums, some ordinary vinyl, some as a picture disc, some CD version, some remastered CD with bonus tracks and a DVD full of music videos...

I own loads of copies of the same songs as they appear on different compilation albums; buying the album for the one or two tracks I don't have.

I'm just this kind of idiot, haha. I'll admit it, I waste money.

But hey, I don't think it's any more than others spend on -for example- the latest fashion / latest phones / latest consoles / keeping pets / doing recreational drugs, which I regard as a waste of money... I guess it's each to their own...

Yes. For certain things. I bought two Nirvana Live DVD's strictly for the pins that came with them.

I'd buy doulbe things to sell one off...

I'd buy double shoes, double clothes, double stuff if other things're involved as above, etc.

Buying multiple copies of something you only need one copy of is usually dumb. Clothing? Sure, I'll buy a few different things if I like the brand. Pairs of pants and shoes go under the same tab. Clothing hangers; goes without saying. Soap bars; stockpile. Glowsticks; Cosco. Weed; garden patch (horrah for self-cultivation!)

But I DO NOT buy multiple copies of items like music CDs, games, game systems, gaming computers, gaming hard drives, game albums, game television adoptions, game etc. Such behavior is reserved for fanatics, people with too much expendable income, or Konata Izumi.

I would buy another copy of say, Armored Core 2, because when I bought it used years ago, all I got was the disc and I want a new copy.

That sort of thing. Multiple copies of the same item when it isn't a replacement...? I'm not sure. Probably not, I hate wasting money as I like a massive amount of stuff and my notes to myself of what to buy are usually several hundred lines long.
