I registered on the last day of august of '04. So I'm "older" than some, "younger" than others. Just in between, I'd say.

I used to make a few "out-there" and "far out" threads and posts that added to the general feeling that AN is a confusing place and that made some suspicious that I was probably an alien from another Solar System; clever, with an abstract understanding of humanity, but not quite grounded, so to speak.

I just loved to confuse and maybe to make people think a bit.

Nah, I got laid off, had to move and hunt for a new job that didn't entail moving to Deli so I could contract back to the states. On the subject of the VG section, though I was at the center of a lot of controversy (new to message boards, so I was just wildin' out), I think things are infinitely better than they were yesteryear.

Some people brought good things to the table...others were so high and mighty, it made no sense. In the end, why should I get worked up over someone who thinks they're all big and bad on the internet.

Anywho, I miss the SD&D section. Now that place was a hot zone for controversy. A big honkin' lightning rod. Some of my most fond memories was arguing with Kalundra (I think). Back and forth...good grief.

Hey Nakey, I notice your sig, don't you miss those clubs we had? The whole war(well not really any fighting) over who had the best club, my Love Hina Club or your Otaku Syndicate? Gosh, I miss those times, and those clubs. I wish they could all come back, the way we last saw them.

do i miss it? some bits. i mean, what the OS ended up becoming, i couldn't keep up with it. the OS kinda lives in spirit as Accelerated Evolution (the sheer majority of that forum is ex OS members, and don't get me started with the spamathon that was Random Thoughts....). that forums, i just can't keep up with. Shame really, since there's so many people i would love to keep in touch with. Like sarah and Suga Babe. Bukimi and her corn loving friends too... I just don't have the same energy for the internet as i did back then.

What i missed was the really old days. Pre-mod Sharpy, Tiran, Fc-chan, Sarah, SvM, Suga, Alia, Taichi...the OS university, Fan_of_GD, Lionheart, all of that. pretty much pre "Asking S-Mod sharpy to ban me" days...

i can't remember much of the other clubs. URE? UPE? i know there was a cars one where i ranted and raved about the yanks not liking the GTO because it's not "true blue american" (not that they make anything but yank trucks and SUVs). Uberdirector posted in one club about flying around the world in MS flight Sim

it would have been a time where venturing into S&D didn't elicit flamebait from CTL. Where i could have a decent conversation with the likes of Karalora and Duberdum on religion without it becoming a massive s*** stiring episode. where my escape from a depressive world was, scarilly enough, S&D

A time when wonderfuly sweet Ally, one of my first loves, Forum Member Kiina was still alive...

the computer forum. hell, that was fun. spending time in there talking tech without the abrasiveness that appears now (or is that just coming from a jaded tech-head?). Kindness to the point of old forum member 416Rigby sending someone their spare parts (and by spare, it was a P4 2.53....). he's still on the forums, though i dunno what's in his boxen now, and it's not under the 416rigby SN...

I'm sure there was a club for that too. i can't remember what the name of the club was, but i know i was part of that. i did tutorials on how to make avvies with certain programs, and helped with avvie making as much as i could. If only i could make avvies as awesome as Levon does.. i know mine sucked badly (with one possible exception, and i'm gonna see if i can recreate that one)

To be honest SD & D began to fall apart after 9-11 when the bumpersticker squad took over screaming Red Red Red or Blue Blue Blue. CTL was a product of that time sort of an atomic Godzilla monster that feasted on the stupidity of the posters. I do miss the old days of Namtose, yuzuha, and of course gejutsuka. Gejutsuka forever makeing an astute observation that always had some vague sexual subtext very few people ever got. Good stuff.
