just look at all the stuff that's included. its amazing. just the iChat stuff is simply amazing. remotely controlling a desktop of someone else who you're chatting with is freaky. lord knows what i'll find on my friend's desktop..

I haven't upgraded since 10.3.x, since I haven't had a functional need to do so. My system's stable, and I'm able to do what I want on it.
I don't upgrade for the sake of upgrading. I upgrade when the upgrade allows me to do something I need to do, that I can't otherwise do without upgrading.
XP, Vista, Leopard... until they make something I need, they can keep 'em.

I will. The Boot Camp feature is one I need and the ability to make "stacks" would help clear up the clutter that rapidly increases on my desktop.
Most of the features are gimmicks, but they are nifty nonetheless.

I'll be lining up for it (I was a good boy and got rid of the developer build I had), but I haven't decided whether at SoHo, 5th Ave or TekServe.
The features aren't absolutely necessary but just the fact that the Apple stores are giving out a t-shirt, and TekServe is giving out a leopard plushie is enough reason for me. Well that's not the only reason. I really like the way it looks, and I never got to try out Time Machine or screen sharing. The built in Boot Camp could also come in handy one day.

When I get money for a macbook I'll definately get it if it doesn't come pre-installed. Say since i'm not a complete mac user yet does it come with an OS X install disc? I want to install Linux on it too.

I'm planning to buy a Macbook sometime in the near future. Hopefully, after 10.5 comes out. I'm pretty excited.

What exactly do you mean by "does it come with an OS X disk"? I'm assuming you're asking if a purchased Mac comes with a disk of OS X (Tiger currently). Yes and no. It has an install disk that is made specifically for your computer (at least from what I remember from my previous iMac G4 and this here MacBook) but can't be used on any Mac that isn't the model its intended for. You don't actually use the disk when you first get your computer since the OS is already installed but I believed its meant to be used if your computer gets f***ed up and need to reinstall. I've never had to use it so I'm not to sure how that works exactly ^_^
Videl, you could just ask me to buy it for you. Of course the catch is you'd have to be the mother of one of my children

Ahem, for that much, it would have to be a Macbook Pro, upgraded to the extreme. I needs my Final Cut baby.

I'm upgrading, but only because keeping up to date is a necessity thanks to the addition of ZFS support, and the addition of Time Machine. Most of the enhancements are developer centric, but stereo Bluetooth support is a must for me.

I'll even throw in the Blu-ray drive from FastMac ;)

That's what I was asking for. I was going to buy it then repartition it and install Ubuntu on one of the sections.

I'm getting leopard only because they're deactivating the Bootcamp Beta. Otherwise i have no need for it
And i'd have no need for Leopard if either the Phone manufacturers made decent software for OSX (no, my 6120C still ain't supported by iSync), or they made it easier to make UMTS dialers for phones (no i'm not spending hours editing dialer scripts from taniwha just to net connect. and i'm also not spending the money to get a Sierra Aircard 880U when my V3XX and N6120c can do the same job()

USB tethering is usually 2-4x slower than PCMCIA/EXpressCard/embedded miniPCI.
I'm personally waiting on the launch of the Ultimate 9502 so I can get HSUPA access, which finally got turned on in my area.

People who buy a Macbook between October 1st and December something get the Leopard free, I believe.. I got my new Macbook last week but I only need to pay for shipping for the Leopard program. I'll probably try to get vista on it with the bootcamp thing. I recently collaborated on a powerpoint with Vista and it was really useful, had many more features.

leopard for 10 bucks if you buy it between october and release i think.
anywho, i'm pissed cause my uni won't stock it until this week sometime.. something about apple requiring stores to have 100 mac computers in stock in order to get a preshipment

You should be fortunate. My school (Gallaudet University) is 90% Dells from 2003, with 2003 programs. There are a few iMacs, but we're surrounded by Dells. One of the reasons I got a Macbook for myself.

USB tethering means i don't have to take my sim card out of whatever phone i'm using and put it into the HSDPA modem.
Also, i get 2.3Mbit/sec downstream with the V3XX. The 880U (a 7.2mbit/sec down, 1.9mbit/sec up HSDPA/HSUPA USB modem), i'm getting 1.5Mbit/sec Down...
and yes, i am in a HSPA area.

That's weird. With the 881, I get about 4Mbit down 1.3 up without even trying, whereas the V3xx cant break 1Mbit down and 512 up. I may need to swap the phone.
