As some may know I have lost quite a bit of weight and surf religiously. SO my question is now that I need new clothes to fit, I have found some pretty cool t-shirts, but the thing is I notice that in my highschool it seems that only very feminine men or gay seem to wear abercrombie and clothes of that like. I know I should wear them if I like it and not worry about it, but I really want to create a new image for myself. Now unlike alot of those people that wear the clothes that just say in huge letters *COMPANY*. So tell me what you think of these shirts-

Instead you want ones that say in huge letters I LEFT MY PANTS AT YOUR MOM'S HOUSE and IF IT SWELLS RIDE IT?

For goodness sake son, buy some shirts that have a collar, some plain jeans (not ones that have been acid washed or that have holes in them) and some loafers or something.

A couple of these shirts on that site are classy - http://www.hollisterco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category1_10251_10201_12558_-1_12551

I got the loafers from Path from Pac Sun and got the deep blue jeans with some acid wash, levis, and union bay or something like that. I have to say those are pretty spiffy shirts. Hope the ladies like that. Thanks for the tip I am definitly going to get a few of those.

I like teh one that says "I left my pants at your moms house" but I like that kinda thing (the moms not the shirt)
but personally I have never been big on name brand or logo shirts, I just wear black or camo pattern jeans and usually a solid colored shirt. But I have never been "trendy" or "in" when it comes to clothes nor do I care

Dude it is perfectly reasonable I have tons of those shirts, but I want to a bit trendy, now that I lost the weight, I want the ladies.

Get some nice Polo's or something. If you can pull it off...I wear these types of shirts all the times, with compliments about each:

I'm more inclined to make some of the same advice that Tom Servo did - but that I think also stresses the difference between how Europeans dress versus Americans. I also checked your profile to make sure I was giving "age appropriate" advice.

Even though you're 17, people will judge you by what you wear. Sure, you can change that with the second impression, but that first one can be a lasting one. If you're looking for some shirts that are funny to wear out with the guys or just around (I have a couple urging the eating of salmon) then maybe these shirts would fit the bill as they are more trendy; however, I would argue against using something like "I left my pants at your mom's house" as a tool for picking up the ladies.

But at the same time, you're seventeen and the girls at that age are rarely looking for the guy who slaves to dress like a GQ model. My personal taste would take me towards the shirts that Tom Servo offered because I'm older (and they're something I can wear out on a date or into the office), but out of what you picked out, I'd go with the 'Aloha' or 'Hawaii' vintage shirt or any similar vintage shirt rather than something with innuendo on it (unless its just for hanging out with the guys).

Any guy that wears Abercrombie/Hollister is just a little too obsessed with his looks, in my opinion. That stuff's for the girls.

Those shirts are atrocious. Especially the first one.

Being a 18 year old girl, I can say that it depends on what kind of girl you want.

If you want the "cheerleader" bimbo type that'll jump into bed just like that , get the hollister shirts with the cheesy innuendo logos.

But if you're looking for a girl with substance, stick to what kenshinbebop and Tom Servo said.

Girls love it when a guy actually puts some thought into what he's wearing. When a guy comes in looking clean and put together, he gets a lot more attention. We love seeing guys in polos and layers, because it tells us that they're smart and not just looking for a quick shag. And when a guy dresses up with slacks, smart shoes, and the right tie, *swoons* extra points. ^_^

That's why a lot of girls will go for older guys.

So go with what you're looking for, but don't be afraid of the polos and slacks.

Then shirts it is. I mean Allusion I do have polos and slacks, I prefer them most of the time, makes me feel better. I have a bit of everything, but now that I see the shirts they arent to bad, I'm just going to go order several of them, and the aloha one.

Wear jeans and a music related or other "cool" t-shirt until you get in your 30s, then you gotta changed to proper but stylish button up shirts, but with the top most buttons unbuttoned to show off your chisled physique that you've obtained after years and years of water sports (XD!!!! I said water sports on AN). Then when you get old, you can wear beige shorts, hawaiian shirts, and retire to Florida or Pattaya Thailand (My dream home)

i dont buy that many clothes anymore, except for jeans (old navy, as other stores have shruck the crap out of their pants), a T-shirt or two, athletic shorts (dont really like cargos that much anymore), and a few hoodies if i need them. i.e. cant get the stains out for the last one. i got plenty of clothes, cept a bunch of my favorite ones shrunk like crazy cause my mom put them in the dryer. nothing tight though, i hate restrictive clothes.

I agree that the shirts are atrocious. As to the Abercrombie/Hollister comment, I think its the opposite actually. I don't they're obsessed enough, those brands just seem to be "fashion" in a box. no real sense of style goes into choosing those items, they just pick up what's there.

Illusions, you are awesome.

The places I shop (when I have money which honestly hasn't been for a while) and would recommend: Banana Republic, Express, Uniqlo, Zara, Brooks Brothers, Burberry and the various brands sold at Bloomingdales or Macys (in the appropriate sections of course).

Being a 20-Year-Old Adolesca-Woman (with one Hell of a fashion sense, if I do say so myself, and I DO), I can say that it depends on the style of clothing, one's physical appearance, body type, hair, personality and enviroment (people, season, trends). I don't think it's as simple as "button down = good" and "Graphic tees = bad."

So, without really knowing what ANIMEJUNKY looks like/his personality, how can I make any really good suggestions. However, I will say this, I don't very much like the shirts Tom Servo posted, and I'd recommend not buying them. I guess it's just a difference of opinion, but what he sees as "classy," I see as plain and dorky. It's not as if I don't like button-down shirts (Love them, actually... well, it depends on the style), but those shirts just aren't very nice. The spacing of the stripes, the dull colours, the sleeves, the collars... it's a very "Blah" shirt, IMO. I really don't see an attractive man with nice hair looking neat in them, Gosh forbid you're the Plain Joe Nerd-Type. Kenshipbebop's shirt is much nicer, IMO... the colour is rich (well, not GQ rich, but you know...) and deep (well, not GQ deep, but you know...), the stripes are a nice size and spaced right, the collar and the cuffs are also good. The white thread (?) around the button holes is a bit, "Eww," but that's alright. So, if you want a button-down shirt, you should use that as your Prototype, IMO.

Oh, and if you are going button-down, DO IRON and DON'T TUCK!! Cuffs are nice, TRY to stick with full-length sleeves. Go for shirts with deep or vibrant colours.

I prefer Hollister to Abercrombie. And really, for twice the price you pay at Abercrombie, their quality is par with American Eagle, which would make their quality to par with Hollister.

But anywho, Midoriko is right!

If you want to stand out of the crowd, dress smart and maturely... Don't be weird though and start looking like you stepped out of a time machine... Looking GQ is nice, but you're only 17... Dress like your age--I've seen some very badass looking buttoned shirts from Quiksilver and Vans that don't shout "Hey, I'm a sk8ter boi!" but still look classy and fresh... Take a little bit of GQ, add some hip-hop/skater flair and learn to mix and match their styles... And just because they're big brands, Tommy, Buffalo, Ekco, Gap, American Eagle releases some really cool stuff that may suit or add to your style... Don't stick with just one or a few companies... Plus, if you got enough cash, please invest on some cologne--one that doesn't make you nauseous... Learn to wear decent hats (as well as shoes and belts)... Flat caps, trucker hats, fisherman's hat--lots are at your disposal--just coordinate.... If you like to go to detail, necklaces, watches, and bracelets can also show a bit of noticeable character... Necklaces and bracelets are just there to break the patterns on your clothes... If you don't need them, don't wear 'em...

^ And looking good NEKO!...

Neko, you looking amazing.

Anyway, I liked what Midoriko said. Yeah, it's true. Button downs arent' always good. A graphic tee under a hoodie with great fitting jeans looks just as nice as a guy in a button down with sweater on top and jeans.

But what I hate is when is a guy just walks in and you know that he just grabbed the first shirt and jeans he could find and threw them on. Please don't look like that. The best thing is to look like you actually take care of yourself, that you respect yourself enough to clean up and dress yourself properly. Looking good and caring about your appearance isn't a bad thing.

So just always make sure to leave the house feeling good and confident.

A smart person once said, "If you feel like a million bucks, people will treat you like a million bucks." Whether this always works or not, I'm not sure, but I do know that you're much happier person when you treat yourself right. So do that.

Don't tuck?? Are you sure? I think tucking is so much better. That way you can wear a nice belt, and have a straighter look on your front. You can also wear a tie then.

I typically dont care what I look like. If I am just going to the grocery store, or something like that, I will wear slippers, and an old Tshirt

I like Blazers. Depending on how I wanna look, I either wear a Tshirt, or a button up shirt (tucked) under the blazer/sports coat.
I need to find a light one that can also be worn in summer
