A scan of what looks like a flashback with Tsunade, Oro and Jiraiya. From another scan i think Pein was cloned as it looks like there are 6 capsules with people wearing AK cloaks but it might just be the 6 remaining members. But that scan is bad so i can't tell really well.

PS and Jiraiya actually does the tickle torture. Just sad.

I don't read the raws, so I can't comment, but, WOOT.
I almost thought Jiraiya was bluffing.
I was scared.

The "tickle torture" seems to be some form of transformation jutsu, as the first guy he tickles turns into a frog. Also, from the spoilers I read, it seems the flashback explains that the Sannin got their name from this Haizou guy, who was the former leader of Amergakure (Rain Village I think?). He apparently beat all 3 of them, but was impressed by them so didn't kill them or something. This seems to just be building up Pein's power, as they say Pein beat Haizou by himself.

I'm not sure what's up with the 6 bodies, maybe his form of immortality, similar to Orochimaru?

Also - Haizou seems to be riding a toad. Did Jiraiya perhaps train under him at one point, to at least sign the toad contract?

Wow Jiraiya will be in trouble. I thought the 3rd or someone in the village named them the Sannin. That is one weird frog he is riding though, looks like it has a tail. Maybe a salamander or another frog we haven't seen but Gama is the father or all toads.

Danzou is riding on a salamander. I also thought it was a strange frog until I read the text.

Hm, this hyping up and more flashbacks... I don't know... things aren't looking too good for Jiraiya, especially if he's in shock from hearing all of this.

The 6 tubes... I'm not sure what to make of it. At first I thought they were clones of Pein, but the body in the far left tube, labeled 6, had a large gut, so that ruled that possibility out. Perhaps they're all legendary shinobi that were revived or are being kept alive. It's too early to really tell though. It's quite a twist if there are still more Akatsuki left to fight though. It's like a freakin' hydra. Take one member down and 5 more sprout up to take their place.

perhaps he uses the machines to switch between akatsuki members, like he may take over one and as soon as they die he goes back into his own body, I mean there should be around 6 akatsuki left now right, over than that I support the legendary shinobi theory

Well the other bodies might have the same eyes. Might be people related to him or something. I wonder how long the war been over and if the 3 sannin couldn't take out Hanzou but Pein did it by himself Jiraiya and Naruto are in trouble. But how strong is Madara if Pein is taking orders from him it must be because Sharingan gives him the advantage would be my guess. Maybe each body has a unique ability but how does he switch between them does he know the jutsu Oro uses or does he have another method.

Jiraiya used the Transformation Jutsu, after he was finished tickling the shinobi.
And Pein eliminated all of Amegakure as I remember.
And Haizou is riding a salamander.
Dude.
Kishi better give me a chapter of the Sannin fighting Haizou.
I'm serious.

Perhaps in anime filler.

It does seem like Pein is switching bodies in those last two pages. One Pein goes to sleep, while another body wakes up. It does make me wonder who supplied the bodies... or rather, whose bodies were supplied.

Holy crap Hanzou was badass, taking on (what appear to be) prime Oro, Tsunade and Jiraiya all by himself, and kickin' their ***** in the process. Aside from this, just how old would he have been when Pein killed him?; I'd put him at around th Third's age, so I don't think it's big statement for Pein.

Hmm,

When Pein re-emerges in the last page, he has a font I call 'the scary font' which was also what the 'real AL/Tobi/Madara' had at the end of chapter 363. Perhaps this 'real AL (Madara?)' doesn't have a body of his own so he takes over one of the member bodies when he wants to move around? That would sort of explain the whole Tobi/Madara situation (which means Tobi can be Obito, since Madara would be way too ancient to be the same person as Obito) and may also sort of explain the past Itachi situation.

Well thats true maybe his age would have been his downfall but Oro had some trouble fighting the Third. The bodies could have come from shinobi that had some potential to join Ak ranks or could it be puppets. So a rumor that Pein is from the Fuma Clan but that was on the fillers.

Wiki says that Arashi was the leader of the Fuma Clan and he lost his mind after mastering and constantly using the Casualty Puppet to absorb his comrades of the Fuma clan in order to increase his power. He is the most talented member of the Fuma clan, able to use the clan's most powerful jutsu, the Self-destruction Mandala, which uses a cage of chakra that constricts, crushing the opponent. So the bodies could be puppets that Pein or Sasori created.

I think it has something to do with his soul transfer or manipulation, that he's killed or enslaved the bodies of 6 Nin and using that machine may transfer his soul and ability to control them between each of the bodies, giving him another set of abilities and chakra limits, especially if the machine keeps each of the bodies alive and well.

So Pein's real name is Kaizer Sosei. Funny, he doesn't look like Nicolas Cage. ;)

Wow, looks like Itachi and Pein have more in common then I thought. Except Pein went the extra yards for his slaughter. It was kinda weired seeing Orochimaru getting his *** beat in his younger years as well.

What a interesting chapter. I'm little speechless about Pein and Sannin (their prime) vs. Hanzou.
