View Full Version : Things hentai may have taught you about your own sexuality?

Has watching hentai taught you anything about your own sexuality? This came to mind seeing some of the posts in the "Are D-Girls sexy?" thread in which male users were saying some thing along the lines of how they're secure enough in their sexuality to enjoy D-Girls. I can't remember the exact quote, forgive me. But this makes me wonder if the users who said similar things were this open minded before discovering hentai.
Oddly enough hentai taught me more about the personality types that I'm attracted to. This was fairly easy due to anime characters often having exaggerated personality traits and after a while I saw a pattern of which characters I seemed to like more and this pattern also applied to women I date in my life.
So.. how about you guys?

I think I've been able to find out more of what I'm turned off by through hentai. Some things are far too grotesque to be erotic, and I hadn't realised this until I'd seen it with my own eyes...

Ive learned that iam getting really sick and tired of the friggin rapeings. Their is nothing cool or fun about rapeing a virgin or any body girl/guy (altho most wont complain)
Its disgusting like an old wrinkly guy will rape a girl, its like the hills have eyes rape scene gross.
But still i like hentai and all but not rape, and as for my sexuality, i found that i can get up to anything lol

I've tried my best to avoid the rape, and demons, and violence, which is possible due to John C Watson's lists (yay), so that's why there are only a handful of titles I've got to watch.
The casual dismissal of rape scenes is one thing I really didn't like in one of my otherwise favourite h-games; X-Change 2, and why I never finished it (I did lots of game starts, lots of routes, and never ended). The main character kept getting raped, would scream no throughout, etc, then at the end of the scene it just went on to the next part of the story and the main character would be like *well I didn't expect that to happen!* and that was that. You can't do that!
Oh hey, I just got raped by my classmate / some salarymen on a bus / the new teacher. Well, gosh! What a surprise!
No! Just... no! I think I find the trivialisation almost worse than the rape scenes!
...so that's something else I learnt from hentai.

Come on, dude. Saying "***" isn't cool.Couldn't agree more. It's the sort of thing that if you report will just get ignored by the mods, though. It doesn't seem like anyone takes that particular offensive epithet seriously. I guess on the internet it's just too common to be worth the trouble of moderating it.
From hentai I have learned people like a lot of strange things. I've learned that rape is trivial, bestiality is acceptable, and that Japanese women make really strange noises during sex. I've learned that there are even weirder sex acts which people enjoy watching than even those depicted in mainstream porn, which is pretty freaky in itself. I've learned that 90% of hentai is frightening and upsetting, not to say disgusting, but that there is that 10% which could definitely be described as pretty cool.
I really can't say I've learned anything I didn't already know about my sexuality. I pretty much already knew what my tastes were before I ever saw hentai, but I do keep discovering new and frightening this to dislike.

I think it's on par with the "N" word, personally.
