outside of anime? What are they? What do you like doing on your free time, sports, drawing, gardening, musical instrument, etc?

I'm bored and would like to know.

I stay in my room on the internet. I read comics from time to time and not much else.

I have a very boring life, and I would be fat if it wasn´t for the fact that I eat one meal a day.

I LOVE music. Classical and all popular Japanese/Korean music is on my radar. I love playing those two types of music on Piano (I'm learning guitar right now...).

Outside of anime, I read novels, write novels and light novels, play an exorbitant amount of video games, watch films, etc. Mostly multimedia stuff and I am endlessly absorbed in electronics.

Most of my free time is consumed by anime-related hobbies (writing fanfics, cosplaying, etc). Besides these, I go camping with my family. I have been for at least 11 years and I still enjoy it very much. If you call watching good 80s movies a hobby, then it's also my hobby.

My brother and I's shared hobby used to be annoying each other to the point of insanity but not too often anymore since he moved out finally. :P

Aside from watching anime and reading manga, I love to listen to music—music is my life—shop for clothes and accessories, dance till my knees give out, watch movies, go to concerts, surf the internet, and hang out with friends.

Really...
that's cool.

If you know me, you know I'm all about music myself..listening, playing, watching vids/going to concerts...music is my life.

I play saxaphone (bout 7 years now), piano (on and off...not as great as I'd like to be), and guitar (about 2 years pretty soon).

My tastes vary greatly, where as if I put my iPod on shuffle, it could go from Notorious BIG, to Metallica, to BB King, to Royksopp.

Keep the thred going, it helps me in my time of boredom. :P

All manners of fighting, as I've been doing since age four when I started martial arts, but at the moment, boxing in particular, since I'll be heavyweight champion of the world soon. Powerlifting and, to a lesser extent, bodybuilding. I run a lot. Lack of any friends allows me to fulfill much of my free time with reading and studying, depending on what I'm interested in at the moment (right now, engineering mechanics). I still skate, but it's harder now that I'm so much heavier than when I first started (which was at about 50 lbs.). Drawing. Playing trumpet in a jazz band. Videogames (currently Contra III). Helping homeless people carry their bags. Attempting to make one post on this forum that makes no reference to disemboweling entrails and vital organs.

I just failed at that, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'll destroy all of you.

I have a variety of hobbies, just don't seem to have the time to do them very often. School and work are keeping me both very busy at the moment.

Aside from all of the anime-related stuff (watching, writing/blogging/failing at designing a website, GunPla, etc.), I'm a fairly big computer dork. Fortunately, my degree allows me to play with computers a fair bit, so work and pleasure can be often mixed. I'm not a huge software guy and a horrible programmer (so far, I have another "programming" class this term in which I am determined to kick arse and take names) but I love hardware and playing around with it. I'm "just now" getting into the whole Linux thing, which I find kind of exciting.

If I've got some time when I'm not tied to a computer (and it's not 100+ bloody degrees outside), I like to golf. I've been playing for a couple of years now and I'm still not very good but it gets me outside and kind of active. I also enjoy shooting, which is a fairly expensive hobby and not one I get to do all that often. I more enjoy "historical" firearms (late Second World War and early Cold War) but I've shot a decent bit of modern firearms.

Finally, I'm a big history buff, so I read a good bit. I prefer 20th Century history topics and in the past couple of years I've gotten into books on security and espionage services so I've got a small collection of books on the Soviet KGB, East German Stasi, and Israeli Mossad. I've also started reading some Heinlein and Turtledove's alternative history titles.

I have quite a few, all solitary.

-Reading (both Fiction and non-fiction).
-Learning (currently): Japanese, German, Various areas of Physics, basic Programming, basic Electronics, Subjects related to Economics and the financial sectors, neuro - physiology/psychology and I forget what else. It's not going very quickly since I have to keep track of all the things I want to learn and school gets in the way.
-Training, both mentally and physically.
-Drawing, though I rarely do nowadays.
-Video gaming.
-Thinking up schemes and plans of various sorts. Mostly small things, though.
-Surfing the internet.

And currently I'm going to get into hacking electronics as I was able to get my hands on a used cellphone and a palm pilot for free.

Where I live there is actually nothing to do except to go to the beach which alas has become boring. Though my main hobbies other than anime and manga is gaming and listening to music for most of the day which is mostly filled with metal and j-rock.

You can learn to play an instrument or choose a sport you like. You can start reading or writing. In fact you can do just about everything you want. It's very easy to find a hobby. I even have too many of them.

Well, I have been writing a book for a while. I also spin poems here or there, and I can play the keyboard by ear. I don't consider those hobbies though. Writing is more of an art for me. Keyboard is more of a boredom buster. To me, a hobby is something that is a part of your everyday life...like how coin collectors often are seen checking their change for rarities and lucky finds.

I really don't have DN..but I do go to a site where I can view dramas like Densha Otoko, You're Under Arrest, Jigoku Shoujo, Japanorama, Odoru Daisousasen and a whole host of others that I can't remember their titles.

you watch japanorama... I thought that was a documentary?

tell me, does this host hand out badges for every month you donate??

MT!! shhhhhh!! Dude, keep that on the DL.

Japanorama is actually a BBC Series that focuses on all things Japanese..and I do mean ALL THINGS. (And yes, it's a documentary hosted by Jonathan Ross.) Some of the episodes are freaking hilarious as hell though!

My entire club wears fez's and smoking jackets too. My fez is black velvet with a silver Jolly Roger and a red tassel. Everyone knows when one of his hits the tournament circuit. You should check out a general wargaming site (http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/). 90% of out group are current or ex military.

Hm a fez and smoking jacket. Maybe a bit excessive but very classy nonetheless, considering how few people own smoking jackets. Interesting group you're rolling with though, thanks for the link.

Another hobby I seem to be developing is making up nicknames for certain people I usually tend to dislike, particularly characters from Bleach. So far, I've come up with Emospada (Ulquiorra), Shotablob (Hitsugaya), and Moehime (Orihime). This habit most likely stemmed from my recent obsession with Dr. Cox from Scrubs, who often comes up with many different nicknames for a good portion of the cast.

Sweet, a man after my own taste. You ever play Warhammer 40k or Alzo Zero? Two of my favorites...

Woe to the conquered?

I don't play the tabletop game, as if knowing anyone worthy enough to comprehend the magnitude of badass that Warhammer signifies is my choice to begin with. I'm merely into the universe and lore of it all. Out of the novels, I've only read the first Ciaphas Cain book. It wasn't a literary masterpiece, but the ratio of heads exploding to heads not exploding was satisfactory, meaning it was all the latter.

And yes, "Vae Victis" is a recurring phrase from Legacy of Kain, another series of caliber.

I came up with a great little hobby to keep myself occupied throughout the day. I try to find random things that would make great band names.

For example, I work at a cinema as well as a video game store. I was at the game shop sorting a pile of junk out for transfer when I noticed the label on an old Atari joystick: JOYSTICK DEFECT. Awesome band name!

Another time I was on my pc searching for something. My window popped up: FILE NOT FOUND. Another awesome band name!!

Lol give it a try. It's pretty entertaining!

I like playing the drums, I start guitar lessons today. Yay! I'm always listening to music, classical piano, Debussy is my favorite, and rock! I also read books, lots and lots of books, I've read ten books since november My bed is covered in books, manga is easily destuctible so I hide it away, but I have at least six books on my bed. I also pwn n00bs on on the video games (I have a PS3). In the winter I ski, and in the summer I swim like two miles a day.

Yeah whenever a friend or family member needs help with there computer. They always ask me first.^_^

I'm pretty high up on the call list for my non-technical friends. There's nothing like getting a call from a neighbor at 11 PM for a tech support call... It's gotten to the point now where someone like my dad will call me about a computer question (set up a wireless network), I tell him what he should do (encrypt that SOB with WPA2 with a 12-chanracter passphrase), and eventually throw my arms up in disgust.

I remember one night at work for patching weekend, we were all sitting at dinner and the topic came up. One of my co-workers won't even tell other people what he does, another says "I do computer stuff. But I won't fix yours."

And I'm an absolute Ferrari fanatic. You all know this already of course.^_^ Most people would think I'm insane for waking up at 7:00 AM on a Sunday sometimes to watch a race at 7:30. Not all races are on Sundays though. My gripe is that they canceled the race in the US for a few years, so any chance of me going to a race is off for a long time.:crybaby: IT'S BECAUSE OF ****ING NASCAR!!!!:$%&#!:
