This is why 98 percent of fangirls who write fanfiction deserve to die in a fire.

WTF? It was like listening to William Topaz McGonagall's erotic poetry, translated by Alex from a Clockwork Orange and read by Wreck-Gar!

I googled!

He actually seems to exist!

Best. Name. Ever.

As for the fanfic, I could not care less. So there's someone on the internet making an *** out of themselves. Tell it to the Star Wars Kid and the Numa-Numa guy, this person barely even registers on the scale of internet idiots. William Topaz McGonagall on the other hand, he really could provide me with hours of entertainment.

You've never heard of William McGonagall?

Then chances are you've never read The Tay Bridge Disaster (http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Tay_Bridge_Disaster) either? Or had the pleasure of hearing it read by Billy Connelly in the rain?

This is amazing. It's like a new form of torture.

Also: for a minute I thought this was one of my friends reading this, he has a similar voice/stuttery way of speaking. XD

They probably shouldn't make fanart, either:

No... and the name just isn't the same without "Topaz". Without that part, it's just a name. With "Topaz" in the middle, it's an awesome name.

I found the poem when I was googling him, which is what led me to claim that he offered hours of entertaiment. I've never had the pleasure of hearing it ready by Billy Connelly, but my father has an extensive DVD collection of Connelly's work, so I fully expect to hear it soon! :D

It was part of his world tour of Scotland... or the tour of great Britain I forget which one.
But seriously I read that poem years ago and I still haven't managed to get over it.

I’m imagining a small house in Scotland with a blue plaque on it.

“William Topaz McGonagal lwas born here.
I really wish I was joking.”

McGonagall's best work is Attempted Assassination of the Queen. Be sure to check out McGonagall's female half one Julia A. Moore.

I loved Pratchett's reference in Wee Free Men. When William The Gonnagle starts recitin' poetry as the Nac Mac Feegle's equivalent of the Wave Motion Gun, I was laughing so hard I cried.

Then chances are you've never read The Tay Bridge Disaster either? Or had the pleasure of hearing it read by Billy Connelly in the rain?
I've not heard Connelly's rendition, but I can only imagine it.

That poem should be required reading for anyone interested in pursuing a career as a poet.

I liked the ending. The whole poem was rather straight, and I can imagine it'd be moving for the construction business if read correctly.
