Ok - I just finished watching FMA for the 2nd time through. I really enjoy that series. I was getting a little nostalgic towards the end though. I remember when I first saw it and how cool it was. I want that experience back. So here is my question to all you people who know a lot more about Anime than me.

What series should I watch next?

I have already seen and enjoyed - Afro Samurai, Samurai 7, Samurai Champloo, Gundam Wing, and Escaflowne. I must warn you that I am pretty picky with my Anime - I like a serious plot with lots of twists and action. I really don't enjoy anime that is silly or jokes around too much. And I have a hard time getting into stuff - I want a series that draws me in on the first couple of episodes and doesn't take 7 episodes to get interesting. Some series that I have started and didn't enjoy - Gundam, Bleach, Dragonball.

So what say you - any suggestions? Or am I asking too much?

I'll tell you what you should do. Read the Fullmetal Alchemist manga and erase that horrible trash from your mind.

I suggest Claymore. It's at episode 20 and is currently still airing. It's about humans and demons and a mixture of them: known as Claymore by humans. I don't want to talk too much about it so just go ahead and try it. It has good animation, no joking around, a great story, and much more! Most people who watch it, like it.

PS. Next time post in the Anime section because it's easier getting answers there.

Ok then here is a question for you. I do have volume one - and I have read that the Manga is different than the anime - but when I search to buy more manga's on Amazon they have two different types. The english ones with the shiney covers and then the japanese editions. I have also heard that the manga is longer than the anime - currently at 16 and still going. Is that only the japanese ones or are the english ones going to get up to 16 and beyond as well. I don't know how to read japanese. Thanks in advance

I searched for this on DVD and couldn't find it. Do they have a date when they will release on DVD? Thanks for the suggestion sounds good.

Claymore is airing in Japan right now (we get the episodes one day after they air in Japan). It won't be availible to people in the USA through DVD for a year or more. You have to watch the fansubs on the internet or download them. Either way is fine, you just need to see how awesome Claymore is, xD.

Thanks for all the tips everybody. I watched part of the first episode of Claymore (I was amazed that I could find it, with my limited knowledge of Anime) and it looks pretty cool. I also ordered the 1st manga to check it out more fully.

Anybody have any other suggestions for me?

Finish all 20 episodes of Claymore then watch...uhmm...you could try Monster which is a suspence/horror type of thing.

Yes. Monster is good. Watch Claymore, and then Monster (or both at the same time if you like juggling).

For some reason, Code Geass comes to mind. I'm not sure why; I haven't seen that much of it, and what I have seen I don't think is that much like FMA at all, other than the fact that it's dark and gritty. Maybe it was because you said you're looking for something with lots of plot twists and action. Maybe it's just me, but I thought there was quite a bit unexpected twisting of plot in the first few episodes of Geass - things you wouldn't expect to happen so early on in a series.

(But then again, this might not be what you're looking for at all. Like I said, I have no idea why this series came to mind when I read your post.)

Yes, I agree with Mikadzuki Tatsu.
You should try Watching Code Geass.
I've watched the whole first series and I think its amazing :) especially if you're interested in the mecha kind of thing...even though its not really even about mecha...hmmmm well :P I wont give anything away

I tried reading the manga, but couldn't make it past the first volume... I really don't like the art style the Fma manga uses. Not that I could do better, it just seems really rough, and sketchy to me, compared to the other manga I've read (Buso Renkin and Rurouni Kenshin).

Any help for me there, or am I simply doomed to never know the real story behind Fma?

Ha! I just got the complete set of FMA, shame, i've only seen it once and to everybody who's seen me cosplay I am Edward "not short" Elric. As for what you should watch, I'd suggest Higurashi (When they Cry), Gurren Lagann and Rozen Maiden, desu.

If you stopped watching Bleach within the first like 18 episodes, give it another shot. The early episodes are really a poor indication of how the show will be. The action changes, the way they tell the story changes... everything. Its got like the worst and longest intro period I've ever seen.

But once you get to like episode 20, it picks up and doesn't slow down until like episode 60 something and the action gets 50x better.
