So yeah, I've been on a real punk kick lately...Ramones, Clash, Sex Pistols...anyone else into punk???
Something about the high adrenaline feeling the music has makes ou unable to stay still while listening to it...

Yes, that's what punk is about. That's some really old punk you're listening to. Recently I've been listening to a lot of minor threat and the unseen.

It's kind of odd for my tastes I don't listen to any "major" punk bands except Suicidal Tendencies. I just like almost any band with really good guitar and the "**** you all" attitude.

Yeah, old punk is just so much better imo. Stuff like Sum 41, New Found Glory, Blink 182....it just doesn't have that attitude that old punk gives off.
Minor Threat is pretty great too...Straight Edge is one of the only songs I know from them honestly, but I like what I heard.
The Dead Kennedy's and the Talking Heads are great too...

Bah on Anti-Flag, their new stuff can eat me. An every Casualties song sounds the same, the only one I liked was Punx Unite. Minor Threat is really good, look into it, Black Flag, and the Gorilla Biscuits, an Bad Brains too if your gonna go with Hardcore. Stiff Little Fingers, the Irish Clash heh, An if your into any two tone, punky ska, than the Specials obviously

I like their old material, I agree on their new stuff, it sucks.
Meh, Casualties is something I listen to while driving.

Haha, actually the only time I listen to the Casualties is when were driving. Their old stuff is really good though, look into that. But if were goin' with newer punk, go with Rancid, they sound like the Clash an their new stuff isn't that good, but everything off Life Won't Wait is awesome

Ya, I don't listen to pop punk that often.
I like the new bad religions album. They were awesome live!! It was a good show (big age disparities. lol)

I've always been a big fan of The Misfits and Leftover Crack but a majority of punk that I like is 'post stuff and new wave.

Leftover Crack is pretty good, I prefer they're ska stuff. I didn't like Bad Religion live, coulda been cause it was like 40 degrees out, an they were the last band to play, but still. I like Pennywise more than Bad Religion

I've seen Pennywise play live too, it was at tinker field so I watched their show from a far, but I regret not getting close :/ because they really got the crowd energetic.

There is still good punk, it's just harder to find (unseen, rise against, strike anywhere). I'm not digging the pop punk scene like fallout boy, that's not the punk I'm in too.

The only punk that I really listen to these days in post-punk. Bands like Joy Division, The Fall, and Television.

I like very little punk, but the stuff I do like, like the Clash, an Rancid are really good. I don't like any new punk, other than a few bands like Darkbuster, an Flogging Molly if you wanna put em in there

I've always thought of fall out boy as an alternative band. :/
I've heard them been called everything from emo to hard rock...but I just think of them as alternative.
And lately, I've grown to like them. :/
EDIT: Except of course, for This Ain't a Scene...that song is teh suck.

Not punk, but you might like them: The Pogues. They were an Irish folk-rock band in the 80's. Very raucous songs, and quite enjoyable!....

One thing you can't ever go wrong with is Gogol Bordello it's punk with Ukrainian Folk music mixed in. I just heard some Flogging Molly and it's AWESOME.

Really Dot? First time you've heard them? Man they're awesome, an the pogues are good too, Irish punk/folk whatever you wanna call it, don't matter, is awesome

Tabacco Island is one of my favourite songs by them, you should get all their albums, I really like Far Away Boys an Devil's Dance Floor. Actually I've come to the conclusion that Far Away Boys is gonna be my funeral song

I used to be really into the punk scene in high school. I grew out of that one, though. I was really into these bands:
- Antishism
- Bread and Water
- Crass
- Conflict
- Reagan Youth
- Nausea
- Brother Inferior
- Subhumans

Hey this is Strife, this is my old and real user name. Strife will be deleted.
Anyway,
I don't know, I just can't listen to punk anymore for reasons of lyrical content. I can't relate to it anymore.

Heh, well if that was the case I wouldn't be able to listen to any of it really. I love the Clash, but what do I know about British police in 1977 heh?

True. I just can't relate to the bands I used to listen to. I never was an anarchist then, but I could relate to the anger behind it all. I can't now.

Punk was destined to fall in on itself, watch SLC Punk explains the movement and why it failed perfectly.

August 22nd, 2007, 01:54 PM
You know, for a movement so tied to actual change, it really didn't accomplish much. All it did was change the perception of the people that participated in it. SLC Punk is the worst example of a punk movie and it is not to be held up as such. I would suggest The Decline of Western Civilization, or The Filth and the Fury. Most real punk music isn't even guitar based anymore, now that breakcore has superseded punk.
JoeStrummer

SLC Punk might have been a good movie, but it didn't represent anything, it did a horrible job. An it may not have changed much, but it inspired so many other bands, an the perception of the people that listened to it. I actually just caught Filth an the Fury about a month ago, I really liked it

I &II are easily available through a Google search. III&IV are a little harder to find as they were never given a proper video release.

It's awesome in the funny way for me but of course it wasn't a true punk doc. I was going to see decline of western but all I could find was the metal years but it's all glam crap.
