View Full Version : Videl Is On Fire....Litereally

So, last night at 4:30 am, the bottom floor of my apartment building, there was a fire. It was pretty crazy, since it took all of us by surprise, and the woman who's place it started in freaked out too. She fell asleep with a cigarette, bed caught fire (she also had oxygen since she was old..) and well, thus the place went up in flames.
I'm lucky though. My mom's apartment only got smoke damage, and a few holes in the ceiling so they could make sure that there were no flames in there, and we're okay. Our stuff is okay, and my room (her room has some damage) is fine. It burned the outside of our window, and a bit of the patio. We got put into a hotel for a couple of days (thanks Red Cross) so we have to see what happens after that.
You all are lucky! Your precious Alpha Female could have been taken away from you...!

How stupid do you have to be to go to sleep with a potentially lit cigarette? I smell a potential Darwin Award in the works.
Anyway, I'm glad you're okay, and I'm sort of glad this has taught us all a valuable lesson in not smoking.

Damn... I feel bad. I told you to go to sleep last night... what if you would of went to sleep and the fire would've come. I swear! It would've went down like that ep. of Inuyasha. The fire would've almost killed you, and I woulda' busted in the apartment just in time, using my WINDSCAR to destroy the whole apartment (and thus put out the fire). Only to find that the smoke had did you in...
I'm so sorry Videl... Glad you're alright. On the other hand, I've had my close calls with fires too. My whole family almost got taken out one night... but a dog barking in response to the flames saved all of our *****. Man... glad you're OK.

smoke detector?
A stoners dilema (to turn off the smoke detector or not). If it goes off because you did something stupid, the fire department fines you $500, unless of course there was a real fire. But what if you turn it off so you can do stupid things and there is a real fire while you are asleep.
For those you wondering how to turn the fire detector off, if you live in an apartment, there are some that can be turned off by the circuit breaker -_-;

For some reason this keeps happening to my friends...I guess it happens on the internet too.

Oh damn. She had an oxygen tank? That must have been a pretty nasty fire. I'd suggest moving away just on general principle. Perhaps to an apartment building that doesn't allow smoking, so that you're not going to get put at risk by irresponsible tenants.
So glad you're OK Videl. When something happens to people on the internet, sometimes you just don't find out. They just... stop being around. I'd hate that to happen to the Alpha Female. Are you going to have internets while all this is getting resolved, or will AN have to suffer without you?

Or she dies, but comes back to life in the last chapter.
Glad to hear you're ok Videl. Fire is scary. Once I nearly burnt down our house, by stupidly leaving a candle going upstairs. I tell you, my hide was tanned.

I have indeed heard of it, but the prerequisite is that the person must be a MySpace user. I really don't think most of my online buddies are serious myspace users. That being the case I'm still left not knowing should the worst happen. Not knowing is the worst part when someone just dissapears. You don't know if they decided they hate you, and just changed all their screen names without telling you. You don't know if they are living in a gutter, with no internet. You don't know if they are sick, you don't know if they are dead. You just know they are gone.

I'm alright though, so my internet might be a tad wonky for a few days. Sorry that my moderating job might be a tad on the fritz. Trust me, I wanna do my job, but without internet, and real life going bonkers, its gonna be hard for a bit. Nice to know everyone was concerned though. So glad everyone made it out okay. Smokers are jokers, and WHY fall asleep with one?
Who would tell everyone if something happened? I'll tell my mom to make a post saying what happened.

Don't worry! The Alpha Female always strives though trials! How else do I think I can handle you all in the OT section?

Glad you're safe. A fire is among the more devastating things that could happen in one's life, so it's nice to know everything is alright.
A warning about top floor: no way out if the fire goes high enough. And lock those treasured belongings in a fire-proof container for good measure.

Yeah, we got off pretty well as far as damage goes. We got word that we're going to have to move into a new unit. Moving right now is the last thing on my mind, since that means I have to pack TWICE since I leave for college late this month. In the cosmic spectrum of things however, I got out like a bandit. I'm pretty lucky compared to most.

That particular word is one of only a few that isn't caught by the filter. I think people just assume the filter will catch it, since it catches everything else. I frequently type banned words, safe in the knowledge that the filter will censor them for me.
