I knew someone would have those views....
Which I oppose!!!
As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy for him. He's had a long career and deserves this, especially with all the controversy. Steroids are something that plague all sports(mostly...not rock, paper, scissors).
Everyone's the fan favorite until they're surrounded with controversy, suddenly they're despised...
Steroids or not he did beat the record and should be recognized for it...
Just like the next guy will be...

I always hated him. You ever go to a sports game and find one player you absolutely hate? Barry Bonds is one. Another is the punk ***** on the Columbus Destroyers. Punk with the dreds, who knocked down my homedawg Pettis. Or that ******* Baron Gayvis. There's just a feelin' I get. And him using steroids only makes me hate him more.

Yeah, I can't stand that fair weather fan ****. Like there are people who hate Dirk now, since the playoffs this year. Like my friend, the SECOND Tony Romo fumbled the ball in the game against the Seahawks, he renounced his allegiance to the Cowboys and denied ever calling Tony Romo a protege.

So, you're basically saying any kind of cheating should be allowed. Which defeats the entire purpose of having rules in the first place.
Baseball will be unbelievably boring when your new world of superhuman genetically altered cyborg players who only hit home runs comes around.

the SECOND Tony Romo fumbled the ball in the game against the Seahawks, he renounced his allegiance to the Cowboys and denied ever calling Tony Romo a protege. Then he was never a true fan to begin with, you stick with your favorites regardless.
As for Barry, I'm glad for em and I thought the Aaron video message was a nice touch. Even before steroids he always got flack for being a ****, I personally liked that shrewd side of him. Most of the greats are that way.
Wether the truth comes or not its done, Barry's the HR King.

Nope, not what I'm saying at all...
He's been clean for most of his career, just because this minor incedent has come to question, his record shouldn't be disregarded.

It's clear the only answer would be to make steroids mandatory :P
And how can you say a baseball game full of superhuman genetically altered cyborgs would be boring? The sport can't get any more boring anyway :P Besides, it wouldn't be ALL home runs. It stands to reason that if every hit would go that far, they'd either increase the stadium size, or attach it to an elastic string (blernsball anyone?)

You win. :)
Then you'd have to hit it into a small hole in far center to win the game. :D

Only 81 more to catch Josh Gibson, and 111 to catch Sadahara Oh. Barroid Bonds would be at five hundred something homers if he hadn't taken the roids. Sosa, would probably be in the 400's. A-Rod will probably hit 800 or more if he stays healthy.

At the end of the day, he still has to make contact with the ball. Steroids does not guarantee that he will. Nor does it improve hand/eye coordination.
Anyway, good job to him. He has something to gloat about since he'll never win a championship. So, I say let him have it. A-Rod will break it anyway.
Oh, and this thread will be just as stupid as the one on SRK.

Agreed. A-Rod is the youngest player to hit 500, so I expect him to do the other 256 within his career. Most likely within the next few years.

No, but he could already make contact with the ball before steroids. They just made him hit harder. I've seen a lot of players hit the ball most of the time but are just short of the home run. Woo woo..

I think Bob Costas actually said it best when he said that Bonds was a great players who became super human because of the roids. Bonds was already on pace for a hall of fame career. Taking the growth hormones just elevated it.

It's still mostly speculation, but that bullcrap excuse of taking steriods and not knowing it is kinda sketchy. Although, to note, he never tested positive for a 'roid test.
But now there's speculation that A-Rod might've taking some 'roid too. Some guy named Chipper Jones or something is pretty much saying that in a very roundabout way. I hope it isn't though, it would be sad since people are already expecting him to go for the homerun record.

Canseco has no credibility anymore, so I'm not ready to burn A Rod at the stake yet. Plus, if he beats Bonds clean, it represents a victory over great evil by a lesser evil (he plays for the Yankees, I'm sorry)
I wanted Bonds to go down with an injury and retire, but since he didn't, I'm glad he beat the record now, so it should be out of the news when football and hockey start.
As for the effects of steroids they mean that when you hit the ball, it goes further.

There ya go. Quit your belly aching about opinions before it's proved.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't steroids just make it so you can work out longer without feeling pain?? It doesn't actually give you muscle mass.
This is for my clarification, not saying that it pertains to my opinion...which is still that he deserves this victory.

No. Steroids do not make you hit the ball harder. He was already working out building his body. Steroids made him build his body quicker since they're a stimulant(the most unsafe of them all).

Chipper Jones is basically saying that A-Rod is GOING to go through the same thing. Jones never accused him of it.

There's no opinion about steroids making you strong. It's fact that you have to workout in order for the steroids to do their thing. Steroids are 50% while your workout is the other 50%. It's a stimulant. It reduces muscle tension so you can get back to working out without a lot of rest.

Not really, because Barry was already an accomplished hitter. He just needed the added muscle power. And all of this stems from the McGwire/Sosa chase in '96. All of those years of him earning Gold Gloves and MVP awards and he got NO spotlight for it.
Evil_Koala

It's still an exp hack. When I played MS, I was already lv50 or so and then I started hacking, I used vac hack and botting. Which is the equivalent of exp hacking. SO ALL THE MONSTERS FLY TO ME, and I just set up the bot and boom. I was already an accomplished player. I just needed the added speed to leveling.

I knew there was gonna be some Yankee bashing in this thread (the fact that baseball is the only sport I enjoy and am good at makes me an even more fervent Yankee fan) so this is all I have to say:
If you're so pissed about our players being better, here's a thought: STOP SELLING THE GOOD ONES TO THE YANKEES.
Then again, once your team loses to the Red Sox, it loses quite a bit of credibility. All is forgiven though, because of A-Rod...:P
