Well, I'm sure you'd have seen Nunsploitation's two threads.

So rules say I can not Post images or Link to pornographic sites.
Reason being that we don't want to distribute porn to some people.
However, we Are allowed to give out titles. Which said people will proceed to google or Search up on their various BT/DL/EDK etc sources and download....
Not a lot has been accomplished aside from preserving the forum's clean conscious.
Anyways, is Linking even illegal?

Also, if I go "censor" a image, am I allowed to post it? As in, I blur out the inappropriate parts.

Most people black out the naughtly bits or find non graphic pictures in the show. You shouldalso host them yourself when you post them.

Also, many who post such requests or links tend to forget one very important thing, he who owns the site makes the rules, legal or not. It's HIS domain, so he can allow whatever he wants, & he's chosen to not allow such linking or image posting. 'Nuff said. Why do so many find that hard to understand?

Because he wants his hentai Goddammit!

[/lurk]

No, but seriously. I do check these threads out to make sure they stay clean. No images or links. Not that hard to follow by. You want titles? Ask John C., and you'll get all the info you need. Look it up on Google.

If you are willing to pay for the bandwidth that stuff takes up be sure and contact the admins.

Until then abide by the rules.

I'm not one of the regularly active moderators of this section of the AnimeNation Forum, so my perspective may be ignorant of some relevant circumstances. I'm aware that the AnimeNation Forum has posted rules, but I firmly believe that the AnimeNation Forum and its hentai section should be a resource for discussion and providing information and assistance. Therefore, I personally don't see a problem with discrete links or occasional image postings in the context of discussion. After all, how can someone ask for help without being able to refer to examples?

The AnimeNation Forum hentai section is not 4chan, and the rules are in place to keep it that way. But my personal perspective is that all of us here are (or should be) adults with enough rational sense to react to posts with a calm, reasonable reaction. We don't want blatantly offensive material shocking forum visitors unexpectedly, but we also, I hope, don't wish to stifle genuine reasonable discussion, or discourage Forum visitors from seeking answers to their questions.

John has sized up my thoughts pretty well. As someone who normally only posts in this sub-forum, I would agree that some times I'm frustrated that some materials are not allowed in the Hentai boards, However I'm not the one running this site. But, I would also agree with those who say if you don't like the rules as they are, maybe you need to seek out another site to participate on.

As much as we wish for that, this is a forum. If we allowed pictures, SOMEONE would take it too far, and with post like "can i have mre hentais pics?" We know it, thats why the rule is in place. I would LIKE to think that most of the people who browse hentai sections for whatever reason, are mature enough to handle it, but the ones who aren't will outshine them by far.

Like I said though, one pic will lead to another, and then that causes a problem with people lurking (non-members) for pics, and then finding them. Most likely someone who's underage. I'm sure there can be tons of discussion, but so far, most of the threads I see are "can someone give me this hentai?" and "what do YOU do while watching hentais?"

I'm still waiting for Lop-Lop's chinchilla gif to be posted.

To be perfectly honest I find it silly for people to try to elevate discourse on what is essentially porn. I think this forum functons more as the clerk at an upscale porn shop who discretely points you to what you want. This order of business gets disrupted on occasion by the guy who wants to wank off in the corner or the kid who sneaks in and trys to walk off with an issue of Swank. That's when we get called in.

You can't argue what is porn; but there's a line where you just know it is. Like, if a anime girl is naked and bent over grabbing her snatch, its obvious that its meant to be some pornographic image. In fact, its just assumed. I actually don't mind if pics were posted here, but people know the boundaries. There are some people who can't get over the fact that hentai pics are just not allowed here. I think perhaps pics with clothes, or just a shot of the face (Clean face, no cumshots) are fine to find out what hentai it could be.

People are just gonna push the limit to see what can be posted or not. Either to be funny, or piss of Bernard. Excluding them altogether seems like the only option really. One noob ruins it for everyone.

I find it amusing that the rules are so difficult to follow. They can be summed up thus:

"Never post anything to which a soccer Mom is going to object when her little wanker of a son ignores AN's rules and browses into it on the Hentai subforum. From the family computer, in the living room."

That's pretty simple. Keep it academic. That's it. Why this is a source of confusion for anyone, I can't fathom.

QFT. The bandwidth issue is a red herring, since files can be hosted off site, but you've just highlighted the real reason. This forum would become primarily about hentai pic threads, if they were allowed. Most of the hentai fans who are also good members would just post the occasional pic for illustrative purposes, but then there are the hundreds of immature and probably underage members who would post obscene images by the (photo)bucketfull.

Or John C Watson's famous list threads, in which he lists every hentai under the sun according to genre, sexual acts present, and fetishes served. I believe that he's a huge asset in terms of keeping the hentai forum useful, because he helps everyone find what they are looking for.

Nice pun there at the end, made me lol.

I'm a member of some other forums where hentai pictures are allowed. All I see is "WHO IS THE SEXIEST ****!!!!!!11" and "HARDCORE YRUICHI PIX!!!" (usually all in caps...) I don't even go into the topic, and just the little box that has the last viewed thread sickens me. Its just its better not to. I like to think of AN as a little piece of avant-garde anime heaven. A place where we don't need frivolous things such as pictures in our signatures and 100x100 avatars; because we're better than that; and believe that its in the post, not the post count.

It would start with hentai, and then the forum would turn for the worse with spam everywhere, and posts consisting of "lol.............." (to fill ten character limit). It's best to nip the problem in the bid before it even begins.

To be honest, his lists scare me and amaze me at the same time. I don't watch hentai, but like...this man's vast knowledge on the subject. He could take over Playboy with one simple thread.

I dont understand why we cant post hardcore uncensored pics that is self hosted (image shack) in the hentai forum section when it is stated "ADULT CONTENT" people should be aware and expect some adult materials.

To me seeing people post hardcore uncensored pics that is self hosted on the hentai section is fine with me since I know that the section is for adult but the rules is not ok with it.

Seeing hardcore uncensored pics that is linked to other internet-store or free hentai sites is not ok with me nor the rules. It is common sense.

1) Because minors come to this forum, and will lurk looking for pictures, spam the thread, and when pictures are allowed, not everyone is going to upload pics. Its common sense.

2) Uploading it doesn't make a difference. When its posted on AN, its going to slow the sites loading time (since we all know it will be pages upon pages of gifs and wallpapers) and minors will be able to view it. It still affects AN's bandwidth, no matter what.

3) Because noobs are annoying, they will do this:

[noob posts hentai pic without reading rules]

["OMG HAWT LINK PLZ!!11"]

[LINK]

4) I don't know why people can't just get that hardcore images aren't allowed. All sorts of other forums offer those services, just go lurk and post there. 4chan welcomes it.

The rules do state that you've got to be 18 or over to post in that section. However, there is no realistic way to enforce it. I have a date of birth in my profile which should suggest that I am in my thirties. Nobody verified that, when I registered. I wasn't requested to provide a driver's license or other form of ID. I could be 12 for all that you know.

If a parent finds out that their child has been finding obscene images on the anime forum that they allow the child to visit, they are going to be very angry with the site. From the point of view of Anime Nation, it is safer to keep the whole site basically family-friendly. I'm sure there are other forums where you can post hentai.

As I've said before (http://www.animenation.net/forums/showthread.php?p=6171574), what I do know is how to use search engines (both this forum's and Google; before the Great Purge of 2007 :-P~ , there was several years of accumulated knowledge about hentai on this forum), plus I'm detail oriented. Seventeen years as an anime fan doesn't hurt, either, nor does (as Spider Robinson put it) "the need to be right", and the willingness to put the effort into it.

Oh, and "Boo!" ^_^

I have high respect for John C Watson. I am very glad and please to have him in this forum. He seems to know lots and lots about hentai and have experienced almost all of them. He is the most reliable member that can help. He does not critisize people on their interest. He is mature and mature about hentai not like others. Other people may over exaggerate about hentai and making other people get in trouble. Many youngster hear about naughty stuff and they go crazy on critisizing people like I experienced else where. He share his knowlege with other people which is great.

lol, lots of "bumps" for John C.

Hmm...
Well, I'll concede that mods (as usual --) have a point.
However, can't we implement something that will allow the ID process to occur? I mean its all well and good to receive a list from the forum and go looking through them one by one, (takes longer than usual with John C.'s very extensive list... not that its a bad thing) but it is Infinitely easier to just say "I want this person" and be directed to which ever series.
We can not let a Function be disabled by a Side Effect now, right?

Can we establish a "personal gallery" of some sort, and have one person host it... Then the ID-ing can be done off the site proper. or something like that.

VidelCoolGirl
August 8th, 2007, 06:27 PM
Until we consider something else, I think you all are just going to live with not being able to have pics on AN. I know you all need your futan material now, but you're just going to have to get it elsewhere. As of now, no pics, simple as that.

If there was a password for the topic, someone could lie about their age to get it. We just don't need a sticky thread with a link to photobucket labeled "ANIMENATION HENTAIS!!!" If we did, there would still be the same problem of minors being able to get to it though our site.

PanzerMK

Can we establish a "personal gallery" of some sort, and have one person host it... Then the ID-ing can be done off the site proper. or something like that.(I missed this from reading the kudos.) That would certainly be more efficient than a linear, multipage thread. I had been thinking that it would be nice to dig up all of the unidentified images (and possibly (legitimate) requests) in the forum, and repost them in a single thread where they could be identified, and the IDs posted in the original thread. Even better would be a (sortable?) gallery of images with the IDs. However, I am not up to actually doing this, but I would be willing to help—though school begins again at the end of the month, after which my time will be much more limited.
