View Full Version : The HUGE AnimeNation Double Standard

Wow!

I guess the double standard here is bigger than I thought.

Here it is:

Double Standard #1

Links to this topless checking giving us a spread-eagle panty shot (http://www.animenation.com/4877349367.html) or this bare-breasted anime chick with her legs spread and pulling on her panties (http://www.animenation.com/4894653052.html) are perfectly okay.

A link to an anime importing company (like Nutech), or anime studio (like Milky) that manufactures H-anime (and depicts H-images on their site) is not tolerated. A link to anime review site (like a page on Hentai Neko with naughty images) is not allowed. (Not a vendor, a review site and an AnimeNation affiliate).

THAT's one of many double standards.

Double Stanrdard #2:

The only difference between linking to Aria's boobs here (http://www.animenation.com/ari-002.html) and Aria's boobs on a review site like AnimeOnDVD is that AnimeNation itself is the host for the image and the vendor of the title. In fact, sites like AnimeOnDVD, HentaiNeko and my site Nunsploitation.Net are all AnimeNation affiliates so AnimeNation stands to profit from links to any of them.

The fact that there is an incongruity between the forum and the store is an inconsistency and a double standard. The forum is not separate from the Animenation site. It's under the same URL. I have to type "AnimeNation" to get here. There are direct and reciprocal links between the forum and the store in the navigation part of the menu. There is a HUGE whopping AnimeNation mastead on top of the forum and it's the same one as on the store.

So, NO, they are not two separate sites. It's the same site. That's pretty obvious. One site, two standards. If an AnimeNation web technician posts a naked, unaltered, uncensored hentai picture in the store to sell an item, it's okay. If I post that same image here, even for the same purpose. It's not okay. Two people. One site. Two standards. = Double Standard.

Double Standard #3

I've been told that posting hentai images are copyright violations! But wait! Just about every single person here has an AVATAR that could also be construed to fall under that category.

If I alter a copyrighted image, and post it with the naughty bits blacked out, somehow that makes it okay? Nonhentai images are not banned. Are they not also copyrighted???

The copyright explanation is a fallacy. If that were the case, altering an image would be an even worse violation. It also wouldn't matter if an image were hentai or not.

Finally, reproduction of a small image for critical review or education purposes is considered fair use. (As long as the minimal amount needed for the review is used.)

Non-hentai images are okay to post and violate copyright, but violating the copyright of a hentai image is not okay. One situation, two standards. DOUBLE STANDARD.

Double Standard #4

Protect the poor, innocent minors. Yet, this site is not a member of NetNanny, CyberSurfer or any other parental control system. The AnimeNation store depicts graphic images with no log in required, (easily done for a vendor, especially one that ran an adult image downloading site parallel with the store). None of the images are censored. And it's even okay for me to link directly to them!!!

What happened to the poor, innocent minors???

In fact, the same parties that harp so loudly about protecting minors tout age as the biggest reason to use BARL and rudely close threads.

When I asked a moderator why he behaved that way, he replied:

Why, 99% of the post like that are underage

Because they're underage. So, what does that imply? It's okay to treat underage people like garbage. Once you turn 18, then you earn our respect and courtesy.

I don't think Bernard or any of the moderators truly believe this.

On the one hand, you say you are protecting minors, but you cite their age as a reason to treat them poorly and AnimeNation makes absolutely no effort whatsoever to 'protect' them from the images in the store. That is a DOUBLE STANDARD.

Double Standard #5

Bandwidth is expensive! But wait! Does AnimeNation even host the images we forum users post here??? No! I have to host the image myself. Hitting the 'picture' button only prompts me for a URL. The only images that soak up bandwidth are ones AnimeNation hosts anyway!!!

So turning this place into a high bandwidth, image-hosting site is not a valid reason.

Double Standard #6

if someone post this kind of crap in any other forum they will get big red letters or banned.

Yeah right. You're talking to a guy who used to moderate hentai forums and no one got banned for posting naughty pictures (it was encouraged), linking to naughty sites (also encouraged) or using the word bullsh*t (not encouraged, but certainly allowed).

But wait! First the idea of two seperate sites having two separate standards is used as a defense, now you're saying conformity with other sites is also a defense??? If you can say "don't judge us by what the AnimeNation store does, that's another site" on one hand, but then say "Hey, that's exactly what other sites do" on the other to justify yourselves, I would be forced to conclude that you're using two seperate standards.

Hmm... two standards? *GASP!!!* Another DOUBLE STANDARD!

I look forward to having my threads closed every time I say something you don't like (even though they conform to your ambiguous rules). Funny, how I can't close your threads when you say something irksome. Must be nice.

If you do not like the rules, do not post here. Problem solved.
