I recently watched Newscaster Etsuko, and the first thing that struck me was the fact that the news cast was more of an entertainment event with a live audience and bids for contracts. The fact that the secondary characters are told to play up the situation to extremes is an example of direction more than the objective lens approach taken by most journalists in such situations. Am I reading too much into this, or do other people see what I see?

I thought it was very much a commentary on Journalism regardless of where you live. In some ways it reminded me of a old Sean Connery movie, Wrong is Right, it just didn't have the sex scenes. But both looked at how the news could be manufactured by the news agencies that report the news . . . .
