How many of you've been to or are going to a great concert???
I just got back liek 20 minutes ago from Hippiefest '07, and my oh my how epic it was.
Badfinger started out the show with their killer tunes, then Country Joe, who I never heard of until today, but he was great. Bill O'Rielly was in the audience and he had the crowd say **** you to him.
It was awesome.
Then Felix Calvelire's(sp) Rascals who were all back up band except for the original Felix...but were great none the less.
The Zombies were amazingly EPIC. Time of the Season, Tell Her No, oh my god....She's Not There with the awesomest 2 minute guitar solo improv EVER. God, how amazing they were...original singer and keyboardist...both great.
The Turtles were both hilarious and amazing, Happy Together and Elenor were amazingly good...I might catch 'em again in Westburry in October.
Mountain was last, they were extremely loud and extremely hard rock. We left during their last and best song to beat the aprkinglot rush that was already starting.
I'm probably forgetting one or two bands, but it was amazing.
And I saw Bill O'Rielly. :D
On August 4th I'm seeing the Fab Faux, the awesomest, most perfected Beatles cover band out there.
So what about you all?

Cthonic...is that how you spell it? Anyways, they were pretty good, and according to all the Nile fans, Nile was amazing. I, however, happen to be an avid hater of Nile's style. Anyways, 3 Inches of Blood pretty much stole the 2nd stage and Lordi had a pretty awesome light show, but LOG really got everyone going.

Hmm...I'll have to look into this?
When is it?
I wish the pillows were on the bill, but they're so packed for JP tours, they said they won't get here till next year. :(

Nile always slays, but there's talk the lead guitarist will do some solo material which I would love to see and hear since it's all Middle Eastern music.
I love Nile myself since everything is so powerful and the speed is unbelievable, easily better than LOG or any metal band out there excluding legends like Morbid Angel. I've seen 3 Inches of Blood, they're nothing I haven't seen before and easily forgettable. Really the only reason to go for me is Nile since I missed out last year when they toured with Misery Index. I might catch them again at the off date if I'm feeing up to it and it isn't too packed

Gah, I can't stand Nile. It's one of those wall of noise bands that I really just can't listen to. Half the time I can't even recognize their influences. But enough of that, we aren't supposed to have a flame war. Anyways, I love 3 Inches of Blood just because their presentation is hilarious. They've got a huge manly guy who does insanely high pitched vocals and a guy that looks like a nerd doing screams, that just cracks me up. And to add to it, they do power metal, making them insanely unique in my book. I think our tastes are pretty different though, you seem to enjoy the exact other end of the spectrum.

The problem I have with modern power metal is the homogeneous sound it's turned into. If you listen to one Dragonforce CD, you've listened to the entire range of their ability.
That's fine if that's the original intent, but Dragonforce are hailed as innovative when countless other bands are much faster and more technically proficient that grow stylistically. Bands like Edguy, Helloween, and others are more interesting to listen to, but power metal as a whole is stale. I enjoy power metal, but I look for true innovation in music, and its not even in metal right now.
To say that Power Metal>all is a bit shortsighted if you even won't give bands like Nile and Napalm Death a chance. There are many guitarists in death metal that are hailed for their technical proficiency, and I can name many of them, but what's the point? As long as guitar masturbators like Sam Totman and Herman Li are around mesmerizing people with nonsensical noise passing it off as technique and talent, people won't bother to listen to actual guitar playing.

I like Napalm Death heh, but I also like power metal, I don't really care about technical playing, but I guess I don't play guitar either heh. Power metal just sounds good to me, even if it is all the same. I can't get into bands like Nile either, I dunno.

I agree with you for the most part though I still claim that Power Metal is better than all because it is one of the most encompassing genres. I usually don't really listen to music for technical proficiency though, usually if I like how it sounds, I listen to it, which is probably the main reason Falconer is my favorite band.
On a side note, I did give Nile a chance. I really can't listen to a whole song, it's some of the most unlistenable stuff I've ever laid ears upon.

If you don't know already. Jani Limatainen has been replaced by a new guitarist. Jani was fired just recently for reasons that escape me at the moment. It says on their website.

Warped Tour was awesome
I was going to go to HOB to see fear before the march of flames, but didn't have the money..
So next concert I'm going to will be Interpol.
I was thinking project revolution... but decided not to.
Family Values tour was on my list too... but I got sick.

Aw hell. I hope that this new guy is good enough, 'cause he's got some pretty big shoes to fill.
