What is the deal with that? Uematsu couldn't write any new songs for this game?

I know he is working with the heart of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, in their new game studio but didn't he compose any new music for that game? Or did they just use all his old stuff from Final Fantasy 5?

Wtf.

I haven't played past the opening sequence in FFXII, so I don't know how the music in the game is from start to finish. Do they use more old songs from old games?

Nobuo Uematsu diddn't do the music for FFXII but they used his theme because its the Final Fantasy theme song.

Dude I'm hearing music from FF5 on this game, not just the theme song. Seriously, I'm hearing tunes from 15 years ago other than "Final Fantasy"(apparently the name of that theme song you're referring to). And I've only seen the introduction and about 5 minutes of the horrific gameplay.

Hardly, theres only a couple. One song from FFV, the others like the main theme & Chocobo song are very common in FF games.

You only played the introduction and 5 minutes of gameplay, you havn't heard anything really.

The gameplay isn't horrific, it just takes a while to get used to. I think its amazing.

That's nice. I happen to agree that it's pretty damn terrible (Your comments about the music are kinda' stupid though.).

um... just wondering, have you ever played any other FF games, other than 5 and starting 12? Enough to recognise common themes?

The music from the intro to FFXII is the same music during the end credits of all the other games (I don't know about 10). I sat there listening to that tune for probably 15 minutes waiting for the end shebang. Every FF game's end credits are basically a medly of all the music in the game, followed by the piece that is the intro to FFXII.

I don't know about it sounding like FF5, I haven't played that one in years (stupid, crappy ps1 port). What the REST of the music is reminiescent of, should be Final Fantasy Tactics, as it's the same composer. I did pick up on that bit.

I know they had a remake of "Battle on the big bridge" in the Gilgamesh fight on 12. I enjoyed it, but enjoyed the classic version alot better. Theres hints of all FF games if you look close into it, music, enemies...everything. "Doomgaze" or whatever it's name was....that was FF6 right there. You have the CLASSIC FF theme song, and I have recognized another song somewhere, but I forgot where. It is easier to say FF12 takes bits and pieces from all the predecessors.

It may be a 15 year old song, but it has stood the test of time. BTW, it's the theme song that's on all the menus.

This thread makes no sense. it's obvious why some music are reused...world settings? theme music?

The OP has the opposite reaction that I normally have when I hear a familiar song in a new game, as I usually find it kind of nice, and reminiscent of the older game.

For a good example of this, check out the Chocobo's Dungeon (Wii) website. It uses classic FF music but adds a little twist to it. The theme song to Chocobo's Dungeon is the Chocobo Theme from FF games, but it's mixed with a slower Christmas sounding song, and I think the result is pretty cool. I also like the other songs on the Music tab.

You noticed the same thing? I was thinking it was either the FF theme or it came from FF7. I couldn't put my finger on it.
