Wow, I thought there were more 80's mecha shows available. Guess not. I need to take a look at a majority of those and watch a good chunk (probably starting with Orguss, since ImaginAsian has their ubaaaaaar cheap releases).

Thanks Till, i added Humanoid to the list. I have this on dvd too so i'm kind of suprised i missed it. Feel free to add any more i might have missed or overlooked.

I'm looking forward to Orguss too, i hope we get even more 80's mecha in the future. Top of my wishlist is a very obscure show from 1984 called Galvion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR6nTQ114iI).

What about transformers and voltron (or the forthcoming go lion dvds)? They should both be on the list

Anyone know what happened to Orguss O2? I watch it on sci-fi network ages ago and have fond memories of it.

What happened to it? What do you mean? It was a 6 episode OVA from 1993 and got released on DVD in 2003 by Manga Entertainment. Buy it.

Dangaioh (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=571) is out on DVD, but it's dub-only so I didn't bother getting a copy.

sings:

Cross fight
Cross fight!
Just cross for love!
Atsuku atsuku atsuku tatakae!
Danga-i-oh!

ah, I love Mizuki Ichirou + Horie Mitsuko duets. And Watanabe Chuumei songs. That's how I remembered this OAV exists, haha!

I had a buddy with a vhs/dvd burner burn the streamline subbed vhs tapes to a dvd :D

Does any of the 80's gundam count? I left out Gundam because we have another part of the forum dedicated to it.

I can always add them if you guys want.

I also left out Dangaioh because it was badly edited and dub only, not exactly the kind of release we want to encourage others to buy. It's better investment buying the subtitled vhs copies.

Sorry for bumping a really old message. But, I'm really disappointed about that list. However; I can't say that I'm surprised about how few 80's shows are available. Since, many anime fans nowadays don't seem to be interested in classic shows.

It would be neat to see these 80's shows:

Blue Comet SPT Layzner
Combat Mecha Xabungle
Ginga Hyouryuu Vifam
Metal Armor Dragonar
Panzer World Galient
Special Armored Batallion Dorvack
Uchuu Tatei God Sigma
Golden Warrior Gold Lightan
Makyo Densetsu Acrobunch
Ginga Shippu Sasuraiga
Video Warrior Laserion
Ninja Senshi Tobikage
Mado King Granzort
Mashin Eiyuden Wataru
And, many others :)

I've seen some from the '80s like Choujuu Kishin Dancouga, Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Space Runaway Ideon, Haja Taisei Dangaio, and Rokushin Gattai Godmars. Those anime shows were all quite fun to watch. It's too bad none of those are available here on DVD. Well, it seems that tenshi_a said Dangaio is available but only dubbed. So, that's disappointing. Oh, I also saw ZZ Gundam. And, that one hasn't been released here yet.

Anyways, it's nice to know what '80s shows are available on DVD here.
