Alright, so I'll admit that this is a shameless name-dropping thread. I discovered this band from England around the end of 2005. They've become my favorite band (passing up Dream Theater). I haven't met too many people who have heard of them, but they are a fantastic band. Their early stuff if very Floyd-influenced psychedelic rock. Their mid era stuff is very focused on writing cohevise songs, and their current stuff mixes these influences with a hard rock/metal edge.

Glad to see Porcupine Tree is becoming so popular, they rock. Fear of a Blank Planet melted my face and then some.

FoaBP is one of my favorite albums from this year. It took me awhile, but I finally realize why so many people love Anesthetize (I completely die when they go into the Meshuggah riff). Seeing them live was kickass. We almost got Gavin to do a drum solo. Too bad he didn't, as he is spectacular.
