I recently bought both on R1 dvd, and I really enjoyed Gunbuster 2, its crazy animation (Tusrumaki's style, no doubt) and FANTANSTIC ending which complemented Gunbuster.
My only complaint is minor, and I wish Gunbuster 2 wasn't called Gunbuster 2 in the states, but I also understand the need to market it in the R1 market. I believe its original titling is Aim For The Top 2: DieBuster. Even the commercial before/afters say 'DieBuster'.
I also must say I enjoyed the special feature interviews and mock show of DieBuster. Entertaining.

I liked them enough to buy them, but there is not much in the way of Mecha I won't buy ;).

I'm still skeptic whether or not I should buy Gunbuster 2/Diebuster, I've heard a lot of mixed views on it. I want to, but I don't know if it will live up to Gunbuster. That was epic.

Die Buster was damn good in my eyes. It never gets close to reaching the level of emotion that Gunbuster gave me, but it's really great in its own way. It's a VERY different beast, but it does a nice job of connecting the two shows together. As far as being "epic" is concerned, this is a very worthy successor to Gunbuster in that aspect. A lot of the things that happen in this show are just insane and astronomical, much in the vein of Gunbuster. And while not as great as Gunbuster's, Die Buster's ending is still top notch.
In the end, Die Buster was an unnecessary addition to the Gunbuster universe, but for me, a very welcome one. I would say definitely give it a try. The only thing I see being a major factor in you not enjoying it is if you get too caught up in the fact that it's so different from Gunbuster. Other than that, you should have a lot of fun with it.

I'll buy them when I get the money. I have yet to see GB2, but I loved the original Gunbuster. Its totally worth it.

I haven't bought Diebuster yet, more from a lack of funds than interest, though I do wish they were cheaper.

The price puts me off, and I would have rather of bought a single release such as the Gunbuster set, but oh well, right? I'll check it out.

I have the first set.
I been thinking of picking the second one up but like some others have said the price is a little steep yet.

The price is a joke, that's for sure. Even Gunbuster's price was unacceptable, but I love it so much that I was crazy enough to buy it.
Bandai Visual is nuts.

I love Diebuster immensely, almost as much as I do Gunbuster. It's a great show, and the tie-in ending was nothing short of amazing. I'm rather displeased it's on three DVDs that cost so much, but it could be worse. I'm also displeased it was marketed as Gunbuster 2, although it makes some marketing sense. On the other hand, one could say that anyone who hadn't heard of Diebuster prior to seeing a "Gunbuster 2" case could just have simply used the internet, but I digress.
I also gotta say, they had some great characterization. I found myself REALLY hating...I think his name was Nicholai? The guy who pilots the bird-looking type. From day one, I never liked him. :P

I made the mistake of watching Diebuster before Gunbuster, and now I actually like Diebuster more, even though I think both are excellent. Although a part of me still wishes I could have seen Gunbuster first, and then "revisited" the universe with Diebuster years later like so many others did, with nostalgia and all that.

DieBuster (in the first episode at least) is VERY reminscent of FLCL. It is easy to say the animation of DieBuster is a lot better than Gunbuster, but that is also the evolution of anime over 20 years.
I was put off by the price, but the want to see the show trumped it for me. I'd recommend DieBuster espeically if you enjoyed GunBuster.

Diebuster is approximately 9 billion times cooler than Gunbuster. After all, it's got Nono, and Groovin' Magic. Groovin' Magic automatically makes this series awesome. ;)

Personally, I enjoyed Diebuster more than Gunbuster (I'm sorry Hideaki Anno). I like Diebuster's characters more than Gunbuster's characters. Also, I love exageration in anime and Diebuster is the most exagerated anime after DBZ.
In episode 4 Nono cuts a moon in two freaking pieces and Diebuster has the same size as the Earth. Those moments were orgasmics to me.
My Diebuster's favorite character is Nono, she is just too cute. Usually, I don't like cute anime girls but Nono is an exception. I have a question about the ending:
What happen with Nono? Is she dead?

Gunbuster 3, maybe?
I recently saw the first 3 episodes of DieBuster for the third time. Such an awesome series. One of the things I really like about both Buster anime is that it is so entertaining to watch again.

I really liked Diebuster but didn't enjoy it as much as Gunbuster.. with 2 minutes to go in episode 6 i probably would've gave it around 8/10... but the Gunbuster ending from another perspective pushed it up to 9/10.
As for Nono
She's not dead but she's not coming back either, she's eternally trapped in that thing

Well, looks like Bandai Visual is releasing the Gunbuster vs. Diebuster Movie at $80...
There is a limited edition priced at $100 that comes with a statue with Noriko and Nono that can only be purchased online. ****** price aside, it looks like a nice set in general.

I loved both series, but Diebuster is definitely my favourite. I liked Noriko, Coach the Gunbuster and all, but I prefer the robots, and characters of Diebuster more (especially Nono).
I'll be getting the Diebuster DVDs soon and hopefully the Gunbuster Vs Diebuster movie, with the figure as well.

I'd expect not even Nono to be able to withstand the gravitational pressure of a singularity, so, I think she died.
Though, I'd be VERY happy to see her in anything again.

I want a 20th Anniversary, 3rd Gunbuster OVA next year. Like we learn about Noriko's mom, and Buster Machines 4, 5, and 6.
