I've heard this album called everything from thunk to thumb...When will people learn the word thump??
But yeah I loved it. The song itself was great. There were others that were great, some were ok...didn't really dislike any of em though. :)

I'm glad Icky Thump slightly went back to their roots of De Stijl (still my favorite Stripes album). I love Icky Thump but its less consistent compared to their other albums, in my opinion. If it weren't for tracks like "Prickly Thorn, but Sweetly Worn" (which I can't help but to skip), and "A Martyr for my Love for you" (the acoustic part remind me a bit of Sublime and/or Everlast), it would have been even better for me. Also, "St. Andrews" is a nice experiemental song which remind me a bit of Velvet Underground's spoken word styled song on White Light/White Heat and "the Murder Mystery" off their self-titled album, but I can't help but feel the song is out of place on Icky Thump.
Otherwise, my favorite song off Icky Thump is definitely, "Conquest", which was originally written by Corky Robbins and popularized by Pattie Page (my favorite wasn't written by them, go figure). The other two favorite songs off Icky Thump are "Catch Hell Blues" (Jack White + slide guitar = hot) and "Rag and Bone" (maybe because I have been listening to the special 7" vinyl single that came with NME, over and over, for two weeks prior to the album release).
I saw the Stripes at the San Diego Street Fair in 2005 (along with the reunion of the Pixies! And Flaming Lips was also there. They put on a very very entertaining show), right after Get Behind me Satan was released. I have to say they are amazing live and they sound as good as their albums. I already bought tickets to their september show in San Diego. ^^v
