Hey fellows,
This is a pretty good site, lots of info and friendly people. But, sometimes a question about an anime/manga/game just goes unanswered because the members simply don't know the answer. Which is fine. I mean, hey, it happens :).
So I thought maybe people could post places where one could go for good "help me identify this" threads. For example, Hongfire has a thread for this.
Any other good boards for noobs to check out for this kind of thing? I think its fair to say we all have a few other places we check out for the latest goods and information.

In vaguely descending order:
Anime News Network Encyclopedia (http://animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/index.php): Probably the most comprehensive catalog of anime on the Web.
Google, especially using the "site:" search option.
Individual companies' sites.
The Anime Encyclopedia, Revised and Updated Edition: 857 pages of information; third edition due out in 2011.
AnimeNfo (http://www.animenfo.com/): Better than the ANN Encyclopedia for identifying characters.
Anime Check-list (http://www.animechecklist.net): A good place to get the basic information on a series, and an extensive bibliography and collection of useful links; no longer updated.
World Arts animation section (http://www.world-art.ru/animation/): A good place to look for titles and covers; Russian/English/Japanese.
allcinema (http://www.allcinema.net/prog/index2.php): Japanese-language database of television, video and film.
JMDB (Japanese Movie Database) (http://www.jmdb.ne.jp/): Japanese-language database of film.
The Other Big Anime Retailer (I have them as a Firefox quick search, keyword "rs").
CD Japan, an on-line Japanese retailer (in English; each product page links to the corresponding Neowing page (which is in Japanese)).
Getchu.com: An on-line Japanese retailer of bishōjo games, anime, and goods.
Amazon.co.jp
Wikipedia
For translations: AnimeLab.com's translator and dictionary, Excite Japan, Google, Wiktionary, and Romaji Gateway.
The review sites I mention, especially Anime on DVD, Hentai Neko, and Animetric.

Do you know of a site that can translate Romaji to English?

Do you know of a site that can translate Romaji to English?AnimeLab.com's translator tries, and Excite Japan (http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/) generally does a decent job on transliterating loanwords in katakana to English (choose the second option in the menu between the windows (日>英)). The results are still imprecise, however.
