So a really long time ago there was a thread here that discussed aging as a disease. Some people agreed, others disagreed (everyone agreed that plastic surgery to look younger was to extreme, obviously)...blah blah blah

Anyways, check it out, this guy is old

TOKYO (Reuters) - An 111-year-old Japanese just named the world's oldest man said he owed his longevity to steering clear of alcohol.

"I don't drink alcohol -- that is the biggest reason for my good health," Tomoji Tanabe told reporters on Monday. He also told media he does not smoke and likes a glass of milk a day.

Asked how much longer he wanted to live, the besuited Tanabe, a former local government worker, said simply: "I don't want to die."

Tanabe, who lives with his 66-year-old son and the son's wife in Miyakonojo, about 900 km (560 miles) southwest of Tokyo on the island of Kyushu, met the city's mayor to receive a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records recognizing him as the oldest man.

But he has some years to go to equal his female compatriot Yone Minagawa, 114, who is listed by Guinness as the world's oldest person and also lives in Kyushu.

A former shepherd in Ukraine, Hyrhory Nestor, also claims that title, saying he celebrated his 116th birthday in March.

The Japanese are among the world's longest-lived people, with 28,395 people aged 100 or above in Japan at the end of September last year, according to the Health Ministry. Researchers have attributed the phenomenon to factors including healthy diet and tight-knit communities.

The older the better, I don't usually go for a woman that isn't showing her age.

My current boyfriend's grandmother is 98 and she is in pretty darn good health. Still has her original teeth (well, with some crowns and fillings, but no dentures), which is, I must admit, really impressive. Takes good care of them (even though the poor thing just lost a crown) and whatnot. She's awesome, what a sweetheart!

I hope I live to be at least 70. After that, it's up to God. If I’m lucky enough to live to be that old, I hope I’m half as spry as she is.

I'm actually apprehensive of growing old because of my lifelong disability, but on the other end I'm welcoming it because it means I can grow as a person and keep going through life. I don't show my age and I guess I should take more steps to take care of myself, but aging is not a bad thing at all.

Aging is absolutely fine with me. I aim to do a lot of it in my lifetime.

Old people =/= beautiful. I don't care what anyone thinks, it's true. Unless you've got an old people fetish.

^Broad conception of beauty =/= sexual fetish. -_-;
Unless you were just being your normally silly self. >=P

If I were that old, I'd be both truly thankful(what can I say, I wanna live long regardless of any trials in my life), as well as eager to live each day with more meaning, probabaly more then I would consider now. Longevity is in my family, so I can't help but hope to make it worthwhile. I also would like to see what innovations become commonplace in life as I age. So yea....it doesn't bother me in terms of fearing inevitable, impending death. Shouldn't at my age anyway, though I do give thoughts of that nature a once over proabably more than others around me.

I'm offing myself when I turn 60, maybe sooner, aging sucks and I don't want to have to shuffle around the grocery store all day or crap myself

but you realize that this 111 year old guy wasn't crapping himself when he was 60. He could probably still run a mile. I actually read an article in Runnersworld magazine about a guy that is like like 80 years old that still runs... ironically he runs around a graveyard <.<;

MILFs ftw. Real talk.

I hope I get to live fairly long. But, with my current rogues gallery, that may not be possible.

if you plant a garden expect aging to come.

I don't care if your in the Olympics and you run the mile at 5.1 you're gonna die from aging no matter what.

Aging is not a disease, it's a fact of life. you can't stop it.

We can't all be like Reidar, well, non of us can. But I don't want to die, guess it's something I'll come to terms with, or not if I'm unlucky.

Honestly I don't like aging, whether it be for myself or for a mate. Hell that's why I go for girls that are younger than me, or age well. My current love interest is older than I but ages much better, which is so hot.

My parents are 55 and 60 and look 20+ years younger than they are. So if that rubs off on me...

I hear people are looking younger everyday, I mean at my store, we have to Id everyone who buys alcohol, Including the senior citizens. It disappoints me to no end typing in 1927 in the computer <_<

Yes. PLEASE CONTINUE to resist that urge.

As for age, well... actually a huge turnoff for me is the "deer in headlights" expression of youth. It usually doesn't start to fade until midway through college.

A few age lines to give character can be quite attractive. Once a person starts to look like Shampoo's great-grandmother Cologne, that's another thing entirely.

I suppose it's like wine. Until a wine is aged, it just tastes like Kool Aid - not interesting at all. Once it's aged to the right degree to bring out its character, it becomes something special. Leave it in the cabinet for 50 years, and most wines are gonna taste like vinaigre. And the face you make when drinking them will be very similar to Bea Arthur.

Works for me, I hate the taste of alcohol

Anyway, I feel that just because someone's older physically, does not mean that they have to act older. There's no set age to start acting uptight, so why start at all? If you're older all that means is that you've been alive longer and in having done so being smarter, so you can still act like you have been when you were 10 years old while having the experience to know what's actually right and wrong.

I hope that when I grow up I age gracefully. It's one of my goals. I don't want to be one of those people who spends thousands on wrinkle creams which don't really work. But seeing as how I was uncomfortable about turning 17 I doubt it. =X

I think older women (like 40s) look much classier and prettier than younger ones. I went on an EGL board and some girl was ranting about how people in their 20s can't wear the fashion, but when you're in your 20s you're at your most attractive since you've just stopped growing and all. At least there's not as many pimples, eh?

Growing old makes the mind more streamlined with the world, but the body loses its cohesion. Maintain the two 'till Death's door and part they will not.
