The show, like all others on MTV, cannot be considered a modicum of entertainment. Shows lile this, and with this statement I include such shows as:

Date My Mom- more like "Date My Mom, Who Half The Time is Hotter Than I"
Exposed-More like "Bad Acting and Horrible Puns To The XTREME"
Pimp My Ride-More like "Pimp Other People's Rides as I watch and Wish you were ACTUALLY Pimping MY Ride"
Room Raiders-More Like "Go straight for the Underwear Drawer and Closet in Hopes to Find Condoms, Porn, and other Sexual Things"
NEXT-More like "The Show of Annoying Women Anouncers, Fake Facts, Bad Acting, and Worst Puns and Statements than Exposed."

That's right, I said it MTV sucks...

Well, I hadn't said it till just now so now...

That's right, I said it, MTV sucks.

Imagine if ESPN, the Weather channel, or any dedicated news channel only showed an hour of sports/weather/news while the rest was filled with lame contests shows and reality tv. Its kind of sad how the road rules/ real world cast members have now turned the "challenges" into their career.

MTV2. Which really should be called MTV. And they should just rename what they now call MTV to something else.

I haven't watched "Super Sweet Sixteen" in a good long while, and I really don't care to watch it, again. The parties don't seem to be really interesting, just expensive. And, you know, I got that thing about children... Oh, three of my HS classmates attended one of parties (Senior Year). One of the chicks knew a dude somehow connected to the party, so he invited her. They said it was boring, 'cause they didn't know anyone there or whatever.

I hate that show. The only shows that I think have quality and decency on MTV are "True Life" and "Engaged and Underaged"

I remember this one episode of Engaged and Underage with this Mormon chick and her fiance, a converted Mormon... Ooh, I soooooo disliked her. She was just ridiculously selfish. Dude's parents and family weren't allowed to attend the actual wedding, 'cause they weren't Mormon. So, Dude's mom asked for, like, a mock reception AFTER the couple's Cathedral wedding, but "Oh God, No!! I don't want my wedding ruined!! I've had my dream wedding planned out since I was little!! *Whine, Boo-Hoo-Hoo, Sob Sob*" And, I guess Dude's little sister wanted to read a poem she had written for the couple at the reception (I'm guessin', cause they weren't gonna be allowed at the actual ceremony), and Guess What? *Whine, Boo-Hoo-Hoo, Sob* It's been a while since I've seen that show, but the poem was actually very sweet and well-written. Also, I think the chick's family was acting kinda smug, too. So disgusting.

Anywho, I can't help but think a lot of couples on that show aren't gonna make it (and they probably won't), but I try not to hate.

Ease up, Bernie. She needs to know what life would be like without you, so that she won't have second thoughts at the altar. She's seen hell, my friend, you should love her MORE for that!

All AN-drama aside, I don't watch MTV, at all. It's a stupid, vacuous hole from which no intelligence can escape. Sweet 16, like everything else MTV, is garbage. Somehow, that kind of drivel manged to migrate from station to station. It infected Spike TV, and G4 after that. It's all tripe, plain & simple. All my favorite channels, it seems, are being reduced to "let's see how much we can piss off the audience" shows.

MTV does have specialty channels that play just music but they aren't on standard cable. You need digital or a satellite to get those pure music channels.

You gotta pay extra, to boot. And why can't Super Sweet Sixteen end in tragedy? Would it hurt to get the girl knocked up? Nothing better than a chick finding out she's late on her period and all hell breaking loose. The show has so much potential and MTV is wasting it.

Yeah, no. I don't think anyone here is jealous. Great way to generalize without reading the thread. I didn't know poking fun at a show, or disliking something for it's content equated jealousy.

If people here actually hated on the kids on that show, that would mean we're watching it every time it comes on the air.

Unfortunately when it comes to class there is no karma. These kids are the same kids that can afford the good schools (that their parents most likely went to to be able to buy them all that sh**), get the internships and good jobs because they're well connected, not necessarily because of ability. Its all about who you know. If your dad is rich chances are he has some rich buddies that can hook you up with a job.

Damn the bourgeoisie...Those jobs should go to hard working intelligent proletarians. THEY ARE THE BACKBONE OF THE COUNTRY! We must rid ourselves of the capitalist pigs at the top feasting on the rotting corpses of our proletarian brothers who died toiling away on their tobacco plants.

Not really. Doesn't bother me because I'm older than them and I have a job. There's no better luxury than knowing that what you purchased with your money is yours and no one can take it away from you. Those kids basically get reversal owned on a daily when they screw up. And when I was growing up poor in NYC, none of the materialistic things got to me. All I needed were my video games and I was content. I wasn't a hard kid to please and didn't care about what the others had.

When it comes to buying a car, or anything for that matter. I'd rather buy it myself.

PS: 300k on a birthday party is a waste. Those kids have no sense of reality.

ah yes. reminiscing is painful. but i'm glad i had a chance to watch one more Blind Melon video - before all this broohaha(sp?) of unreality tv decided to step in.

here's a sample. remember...

All I can say is that my life is pretty plain

I like watchin' the puddles gather rain

And all I can do is just pour some tea for two

and speak my point of view

But it's not sane, It's not sane

I just want some one to say to me

I'll always be there when you wake

Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today

So stay with me and I'll have it made

And I don't understand why I sleep all day

And I start to complain that there's no rain

And all I can do is read a book to stay awake

And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape

escape......escape......escape......

theres a saying in the Bible: "Spare the rod, spoil the child." well apparently these kids need to be hit in the face by a professional heavyweight boxer a couple times and then have to pay for the hospital bill WITHOUT their daddy's money. if these kids had to make it on their own, theyd have no clue on how to deal with the world that the average person lives in. theyd die having no idea how to ACTUALLY interact with people. theyd get killed. plus without their money their popularity would plummet. they have no personality other than their money. get that out of the picture and they would have no friends at all.

i remember one girl saying that a music artist would perform but only for around half a mil. the girl said thats a little too pricy.....A LITTLE!?!? ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME!?! man, id be happy with just a really nice car. do these parents have ANY shred of intelligence, other than how to make a crapload of money?

I remember that when I was really little my older brother would let me watch Jackass with him when my parents weren't home. Then I watched Viva la Bam a few years later.

Now there REALLY isn't any point in watching MTV. I mean, MTV2 is OK. It does show more videos, and High School Stories is pretty awesome. They also show old Beavis and Butthead episodes...and Celebrity Deathmatch.

Yeah, MTV2 > MTV.

The only thing that's worse that My Super Sweet 16 is Laguna Beach and those spinoffs. I mean, these spoiled little brats need to be slapped in the face.

Something I would watch: "The worst brats from the most memorable episodes of My Super Sweet 16 go to BOOT CAMP."

You're forgetting Scarred. It's something to see people who do X-Games type sports or doing crazy stuff because of sheer boredom, then see them get a bone broken or worse entertaining. The worse though when this skater ripped open his nuts and was actually holding one in his hands. *shiver* I'm a girl and all, but I can imagine the sheer pain. Hell, it keeps me entertained at 2-3 AM Sunday morning.

What? Since when? MTV2 has become regular MTV. Videos are non-existant. MTV back in the early parts of the millenium and late 90's was pretty strong. Late night MTV was dope. They would show nothing but videos from 1 a.m. until 7 a.m. Good times.

Sifl and Olly is still the greatest show to ever appear on regular MTV before MTV2 happened.

This is why I dove headfirst into the underground. MTV stopped caring about alternative music when they cycled through and got rid of Kennedy, Henry Rollins, and Riki Rachtman. The revival of Headbangers Ball just doesn't compare, and the host (Jamey Jasta, lead singer of Hatebreed) is such a boring host and interviewer, despite having credibility in the industry and the metal scene.

Disney Channel is INFINITLY better than MTV. God I hate that channel. Seriously. For years NZ didn't have it, and now we do. The country is far worse of because of it.

This is why I don't watch TV all too often. After Toonami died, so did my will to go on watching. I would rather be poorer than dirt than be a rich bi*ch like Paris Hilton. The only thing celebrities are good for is keeping the drug business running.

Pfft, you suck, Toonami is the dead shell of CNX, which is short for Cartoon Network X. I suppose, if I had to compare it to anything it would be Adult Swimwear, with shows like DBZ, Tenchi Muyo, Cowboy Bebop and Kung Fu movies with terrible dubbing. I still rememeber the channel it was on, 244.

There you go. Generalizing again. You think I LIKE being in that generation. I HATE Disney Channel. People drop IQ points watching it.
So don't remind me that I'm one of THEM. *shudders*

I'm just going to ignore everything wrong with this post and say that I like Disney, I don't watch the channel but I like some of the films.

The films can be OK. I'm just tired of the same plots and same characters be rehashed over and over again...

Yeah, which is why I only mostly watch the ones I grew up with, of course I'll watch some of the new ones, but not every one. POTC is good.

A show about spoiled brats being even more spoiled? Who cares?
And to the person saying that whoever is jealous? You don't have to be jealous to see how not appreciating other people's work or money makes someone a *****. Honestly, some of the crap they whine about is so stupid. It's their life, yes, but think of that $300k going to help keep soup kitchens going or anything else. They have the money to spare, and to blow it in such a stupid way just irks me.

I'm actually glad I don't get all of my wants (not to mention any needs that would be an afterthought) filled at the drop of a hat. It's good to be able to appreciate what you have, and the work that goes into it. How would they cope if all of the sudden their daddy's company turns into an Enron?

*sighs*

I remember that when I was really little my older brother would let me watch Jackass with him when my parents weren't home. Then I watched Viva la Bam a few years later.
When you were really little? Jackass wasn't on that long ago.
But now we have the Disney Generation. Keep that in mind.
We've had a Disney Generation before. I grew up watching Disney when I was 5 (1990/91) and the shows were pretty cool then. I watch now, and the best things they have are reruns of Boy Meets World. The current stuff is... not even palatable. Although I really wish they'd stop using laugh tracks. Those things are fricken annoying.

What does that have to do with anything if I may ask? A majority of people have more important things to spend money on than anime if they had such money.

Point A.: I consider really little to be anything before my Meltdown/Breakdown/Going psycho. That was when I was 11. Jackass was on from when I was 7 to when I was 9.

Point B: Yeah, the shows in the '90s were freakin awesome. I love Boy Meets World. So Weird was AMAZING. I miss it REALLY BAD. I guess Disney didn't WANT a show about a girl with a brain.

Didn't it always have brand name clothing? i never shopped there but I thought that was the reason ghetto people shopped there as opposed to say Conway.
