View Full Version : How did you do this year?

Well, since junior high, high school, and college years are just about over, how did you do overall? Surprisingly, I got full credit in every class I took this year. This now puts me at Junior standing status. I can graduate early!

by normal stanfards, very well
By my standards, Well, i don't have standards, but I feel like I should feel like I should ahve done better, if that makes any sense. my grades were down.
I feel like I spent too much time for what I got out of most of my classes, especially math and chem. I probably took too heavy a work load, but I'm going to take an even harder one next year. Hooray for common sense.

I got A's in my two Spring semester classes. And so far in both my summer classes I have 100%. Work is going quite well. Health-wise I'm fine. Social life is okay. Pets are good. I'm doing many more things at the gym. I got back into contact with friends I had not heard about in many years. Only thing missing is what is usually missing.

I wasn't much higher than the classe's averages despite having less courses this semester than my previous ones. I wasn't motivated to do much beyond passing, anyway. There just wasn't anything that was useful to be learned, except for some choice bits from biochemistry. I cared more about what I learned out of class, so I had more focus on that.
Last semester I got solid grades, despite it being the hardest 4 months I had to go through so far.
Sadly, even though I'm in college I still don't study enough. Beyond getting to the few classes I want, there isn't anything interesting that is offered.

I graduated! Five grueling years and I've finally finished my undergrad.
For a longer, more convoluted version of my graduation, you can view this post (http://www.animenation.net/forums/showpost.php?p=6149478&postcount=11).
As for GPA... well, I can still get into the B.Ed. program, and that's all I care about.

I graduated high school last Thursday. As far as grades go, I did my best in Freshman and Sophomore year and got mostly A's and B's. Junior and Senior year wasn't as great but I transfered to a different district with higher scholarly expectations which had a great deal of work, more so than the last district I was in. But I still pulled through with mainly B's and a few C's.

As good as could be expected... that is, kinda-sorta horrible. I dunno, I "dropped" a couple of classes. I made a seriously bad mistake when choosing my classes for 1st Semester, which kinda-sorta screwed up a few of my 2nd Semester classes. It's just like, that 2 that should've been negative, but you forgot to write the minus sign...
Well, not to worry. I'm confident in my Reboundiness. :D Man, I'm so screwed... Naw, I'm cool. I learned some valuable lessons, the courses weren't nothin' but a thang (They were definitely a "thing"). No, things are definitely A-Okay.

I'm not sure about the rest of Canada, but in the Maritimes summer vacation (the logical end of a term as it's 2 months) and March break did (and still do) coincide with planting, harvest and other farmy things.
A few years ago someone tried to change March break in N.B. to a week later and there was such an uproar you would have thought they'd been asked to give up their first born. Nothing messes with the potato harvest, not even school.

Here in America we've got these things called "farms," and "seasons." Back in the old days, a lot of kids used to live on these "farms" and had to help their parents work on the "farms." American school years are scheduled based on that, even though it's more logical anyway to give kids the summer off.
I realize you can abuse your sheep year round in NZ, but we do things a bit differently here in the Northern Hemisphere. :P

My Math teacher this year has a grading system in which on any/every paper one question wrong ='s F.
So I failed my First class ever due to her.

Anyway...
English AP: 92%

Japanese 12: 97%
Geography 12: 98%
Math 12: I'm not even going to go there. :P

Spring Semester went not quite as I imagined it would ... I got in over my head on an English class (Technical Communications) and missed a few assignments, so I wound up with an A on the final and a D in the class. Computer Applications in Statistics was a bit harder than I expected because of them ****ing around with so many software packages but I ended up with a B. Network Security was just as hard as I expected but I ended up getting a Lab Assistant position (which got me exempted from the term paper) and I received a B.
After fighting with the English department (who told me to fight with the CSIS department because it their requirement, even though EngDep sets criteria, staffing, and admissions rules for the class) for trying to get into one of the summer sections, I just got frustrated and I'll delay retaking the class until my final semester, which means I'll have a lighter fall (No Cyberdefense Team for me :( ) and a very full final semester. Ick.
So far, so good for my Security Policy and Admin class this term, but I've got a few lecture reports to write over the weekend. I should also start researching for my IRP/DRP/BCP report that's due at the end of session next month.
Social life has gotten much better in the past few weeks; work life has gotten a little better since I've gotten a raise, but I'm still dealing with work I'd rather not be doing. I need a transfer but the position I want may not be until August.

In that sense, its far more logical to have the SUMMER holiday in SUMMER.
Both hemispheres have adapted for this.

*Sigh*
It was arbitrary. Wish that my posts were read.
It was the beginning of the year in the Roman and Julian calendars was January 1st (Janus, being a god of gateways and transition, being the the best choice for a start of a new year, as he was already associated with the month), and since it was close enough to the birth of Christ, it was kept with the Gregorian calendar, though some religions mark the resurrection of Jesus as the beginning of the Year.
But marking the new year with a birth instead of a death (even a resurrection) is much nicer.
