Started out as the stupidest thread ever, turned into the most awesome thread ever. It has everything: image macros, over-dramatic flame wars, *****y 14 year olds- the works. I think that this thread may be the embodiment of the internet.

Also, the reaction of the mod that locked it is great.

You beat me to it. That's the nutball thread by which I personally measure all other nutball threads. Later threads would be created by Zuggy and SKaze, but Minoru's like Alfred Nobel - the prize is named after him.

AN should give out a Minoru Prize* every year. It should go to the user who unknowingly and unintentionally proves him/herself to be the biggest Froot Loop on the board. Alternately, the prize could be called the Toucan Sam, and we could call the awards banquet "The Sammies".


*I realize that by suggesting this, I've just given half the board the idea that we should hand out a Desslock Prize every year to the person with the longest, most verbose post. Yes, haha, that'd be a good idea, except that I'd just end up winning it year after year. :P

As far as I can tell, it was a legitimate thread, and it was consistent with other views espoused by Minoru in various other threads.

Then there's Zuggy's "Dark Side Of The Moon" thread where he points to an imaging glitch in a lunar photograph as evidence of some sort of alien base/temple/etc. on the far side of the moon. This was comprehensively debunked on the grounds that:

- The region in the photograph is in fact on the NEAR side of the moon, visible from the ground.
- All other photographs taken of that same area, from a variety of angles (including Earth-based telescopes), reveal nothing unusual.
- The feature in the photograph is actually a very known, named and recognized lunar feature.

As I said earlier, though - none of these threads comes close to Minoru's "I want/plan to be genetically resequenced (in my lifetime) into an immortal asian superbeing" thread.

There was 10 pages of this and even posted pictures of the alleged woman who looked like Monty Hall in drag. Them were good times on AN.

This person... admitted that her "girlfriend" was a man, or you could just tell by looking? I'm just saying that no matter how much a person looks like they have a male face, unless you've seen the package you can never really be sure. If she admitted it was a man in drag, that's just confusing that she still wanted to call herself a lesbian. I mean... why?

I've seen some other stupid threads, in my time. Minoru takes a lot of beating. The thread in which Zugzwang said I must be reading his mind just because I could guess he had read the Illuminatus Trilogy was pretty memorable too. SKaze's thread was pretty LOLsworthy, although more pathetic than stupid.
