View Full Version : What makes you happy?

Pariah

So, I was strolling along today, listening to some awesome music, with the sun shining in a cloudless sky, on my way home to watch The Departed, eat good food and read my book. 2 months after knee surgery I can work out again, so my muscles feel great, I'm refreshed and I'm wearing new clothes. A-levels and high school education are almost over, I'm close to going on my GAP year and I have awesome friends.

All this made me stop and think, life is great.

What gets you to stop whatever your doing and take life in and smile? Whether its a cup of coffee in the morning, or reading a book, or whatever.

Spending time with my girlfriend. Being outside with a cool drink in warm weather. time with my friends when we've got nothing in particular to do, and are happy enough with doing nothing. When a new videogame turns out to be as good as I hoped. A good ending... to whatever, movie, game, anime, TV show...

That sort of stuff.

Yeah, being in a relationship makes everything else in life seem better (at least for me anyway).

How long you been with her? I'm coming up to 4 months with mine (not long, but whatever, I'm only 17) :D

The Departed
Even if The Departed wasn't Martin Scorsese best, anything directed by that man makes me happy.

That, and listening to tunes while driving with your buddies and the windows rolled down. A nice feeling.

I'd say my boyfriend, the one and only love of my life. Without him, I probably wouldn't be where I am now. He gives me strength to go forward and has helped me regain confidence in men again and to forget the bad experiences of my past. I am blessed to have met such a wonderful person who always makes me smile.

Perhaps days where there is nearly no air contamination. Yesterday and the day before yesterday were rare opportunities to look at the hills and see the houses clearly. Maybe today will be nice too. I'm going to eat breakfast in a while at a nice restaurant so let's see.

Figure ice skating makes me feel happy. There's just something about acellerating a Toller spin and then tilting your head upside down making you lose sense of what's up and what's down exciting.

Or perhaps *maybe* if just *maybe* I get a high enough grade on my final tomorrow that I won't have to do an extraordinary exam (thus spending more money.. less vacastions, more annoyance, etc...). If I get that 7.7 or better, I can say I'm practically in 7th semester. My Tuesday and Wednesday finals will be a piece of cake so I'm not worried about them.

Getting into a plane to travel to a place I've never been to before always excites me... even if the passenger next to me hasn't bathed in a week.

The Departed was a seriously awesome film. Nicholson will always rule all, and who says Damon can't act :P

I should get me a car then, no?

Making people laugh/smile, funny people, being playful (i.e. annoying), and animals. I think we all know what kind of animals aren't included on "Midoriko's Liked Animals List" (humans (or Skunk Apes) and cockroaches). Oh, and daydreaming. Plus, I'm stalking a new dude. If I play my cards right, I think I can force him to marry me by 2011 (if I haven't left the Earth with the Invading Aliens of 2010). I would say shoes, but I dunno... Can you like somethin' without it making you happy? Shoes are like candy bars or somethin', good for a quick fix but lack the longterm pleasure.

My girlfriend makes me incredibly happy. What else...I guess being constantly immersed in media (anime/other TV, film, games, manga/comics, etc) makes me happy too. Money, naturally, is a pure form of happiness. XD

I somewhat envy other people. I'm always so passive and thinking to much about things for me to truly be happy. I don't know what makes me happy, I feel like I just do things to pass my free time, nothing else. I may find that I can enjoy something for a period of time, but it only lasts for a small duration. I don't know...I considered myself happy when I was younger, but I can't quite put my finger on it now. I probably just think too much, or need someone in my life to conclude my happiness. Only time will tell, I guess.

Just a small side note here. I'm not trying to be emo or anything, I'm expressing this in all seriousness.

Have you tried not thinking about things? :P

In all serious though, I don't think I could ever be happy unless I could just turn off for some time during the day and just relax. Even if it's when I'm walking to school. Whether it's raining or sunny, something about that walk always makes me feel good.

Find something that makes you happy and acknowledge it. I refuse to believe that nothing makes you happy.

You say the good feelings only last for a small time? Find a way to prolong them. So much of time I have a completely s*** day, but for 5 minutes I listen to my favourite song, or talk to a friend, and it all seems worth it.

Wow, it's weird for me to be talking like this, I used to be so pessimisstic (typical teenage attitude problems....wait a minute...I'm only 17 now, oh well :P)

Point is, if theres something small that makes you stop thinking, or even thinking good things, then hold onto it, no matter how small it is. It's the small things that get us through man.

Onigiri, I LOVE your list :D, 100% agree on all things.....EXCEPT: you're a vegan

Actually, yeah. I love Asian office women more than Levon loves Gundam.

We've been together since last August, so that's coming up on 10 months.

I remember when you two were quickly exchanging glances across the room, if I remember right it was I who finally brought you two together. You two kids were DDRing and I Bruce Lee kicked you so you'd fly off your pad, and into her arms. How romantic.

Yes, they truly are a blessing. *Kisses nephew, hides extension cord behind back* Nah, smiling/playing with kids makes me happy, too... as long as they keep their distance/don't start asking a bunch of crazy questions. "I don't know why that character looks like that, I didn't make the game... GAHLEE!!" I pretty much adore babies, though... 'cept those babies (all of them at some point) who are constantly wiggling when you're changing them or sticking their hands down there in the stuff; and when they won't stay off the F'ing stairs; crying I can handle... not sleepy crying. I really don't understand why babies have to throw a fit when they're sleepy. Darn, just shut up and go to sleep if you're sleepy. :| That was a nice rant.

I wish some guy I like would make me happy because I've offered to make his little astronaut VERY HAPPY on some occasions.

Lol sigged.

I did. I guess my boobs aren't big enough. But if he's as desperate as he sounds, the following will be bound to happen:

1. His little astronaut will explode. (LOL)
2. He'll be begging.

Although judging from some of the pics in the yearbook...I don't think...that he's entirely straight.

Please, make sure he uses a condom. It would be a shame for you to come on here one day with a "So....I'm pregnant" thread. In which case, I will throw out ten 'lol' smilies and go back to one of my old posts where I told you you'd go wrong. And of course, I will celebrate my victory with wine and the finest women the world has to offer.
