Apatow + Rogan + Rudd for another time around for the win.
Its doing exceptionally well in the reviews, a rarity for comedies.

I fail to see anything funny about a man, supposedly a complete moron, getting a woman pregnant and finding out he knocked up said woman, thus starting the ruse that it's supposed to make him a better man
Bah, but that's just me.

Do you have any friends that have had children early? I'm 23 and have quite a few friends who have had kids unexpected. Its amazing to see how fast even the most immature people turn adult in this situation. Or how fast the heaviest partiers go sober.

Even so, it doesn't seem at all interesting to me, and I do have at least two friends like that. I'll be skipping it, but let me know if it's any good.

I've had a feeling this movie was going to be good. Even the Times gave it a good review. So yeah I'm gonna go see it. Though I am reluctant to go see it with a girl as it might give them second thoughts...

Only to find that they can't support their kids due to not enough income through the parents lack of work during their party hard testimonies.
My biggest fear in life is to have kids and not be able to support them financially, in the states it's considered a crime if the man of the family dose not work enough to support the kids with a reasonable environment, and for what I put my parents through that alone is a nightmare waiting to come true.

I have learned to ignore everything the critics say, as I rarely agree with their take, whether they say it's good or bad. As it is getting critical raves, I am going to avoid this movie like the plague.

I guess you think Lord of the Rings, Saving Private Ryan, Borat, etc. sucks too, huh. Critics loved those. So did I. And I'm seeing this tonight, looks awesome

The movie looks funny only because I find unwanted pregnancies funny. Growing up as a minority in NYC, I've grown desensitized to it and expect it to happen to at least one of my family members. Actually, it happened already. Three times. And I got a good laugh out of all three incidents.
I have to see this movie.

So I take it most of you didn't like the 40 Year Old Virgin either?
Apatow's comedies are like a breath of fresh air compared to another "frat pack" flick where we see Will Ferrell kick and scream like a little kid for 2 hours.

Take a look at the average member posting in your threads, a good majority don't know who Judd Apatow is, let alone what he's done. Thank god for public radio giving him some airtime on Fresh Air and Fair Game..

Knocked Up is so enamored of Ben and his insouciant charm that it fails to wonder what it must feel like for the girl.
Though some, including the filmmakers, might find this sort of material smart and real, others might consider it middlebrow and not particularly representative of the complex and interesting people they know, some of whom are even men.
lol copypasta. you probably won´t notice until you quote it.

I liked 40 Year old Virgin. It was very well written compared to a lot of adult comedies...

Actually, I do...and I say that if you lack maturity to go from day to day life, then what makes you think that you can raise a kid? Just telling it like it is.

Ironic thing is, much of it was improv, yet the movie felt as you described.

It's a breath of fresh to watch something that has heart to it rather than most comedies that use shock value for the hell of it.

Lord of the Rings: The first two were good. The third sucked by comparison. Critics raved about all three.
Saving Private Ryan: I have yet to watch this movie. I received it as a 20th birthday present, and it has been sitting on my shelf since. I have not been inspired to watch it, and I had no interest in seeing it when it first came out.
Borat: Absolutely no interest whatsoever.
So I take it most of you didn't like the 40 Year Old Virgin either?
Again, no interest in seeing it.
So, basically, yes, I disagree with the critics.
Just ask yourselves where exactly those thumbs are going up.

I agree completely with this man. Though admittedly I do like a few of Ferrell's movies.

Also, "frat pack" = trite.
