wft, "PEOPLE who illegally download music would have their telephone and internet services cut off under a radical new plan proposed by the music industry.".

the music industry sure in on its high horse.
i think they will practically bankrupt the Australian phone company's.

i know for a fact 98% of my school would loose there phone and i pritty sure that breaks some sort of law. (im saved due to my laziness of not Evan being bothered to download it)

anyone else think the music industry's tantrum is going to far?
just because people are getting less interested in there overpriced pieces of metet i mean um.... cd's they should build a brindge and get over it.

Let's see... the ISP probably already has the subscriber sign/agree to a statement that they won't use the connection for illegal purposes; that's usually boilerplate. And the licensors appear to be using this as an alternative to prosecution for copyright infringement.

I'd say this sounds like a pretty timid reaction, all things considered.

just asking but i didn't think the music industry had any power over the phone companies and i dont think they wanna loose customers.

Meh, I don't see how they are loseing money. It is not like any of the songs from the last 10 years are worth downloading anyway.

Yeah I think that's going too far.

Are they entitled to do this, and is this a relatively timid move? Yes. Am I thinking that this is appropriate, all considered? No. People don't change; they're still going to find ways to download things off the internet illegally, no matter what they are.

Wait, this is in Australia...right?

Even if it were in America, I'd be unaffected thanks to my obey'ed'ness(what!?) of the law and iTunes...

But, that sucks, good thing you wouldn't be affected.
