Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles: Chrystal Bearers, that is! The chrystal Chronicles series have been all about multiplayer. But this one changes that and actually looks like a normal Final Fantasy game. But I'm sure it won't be as epic as the main series. But it looks good from what I see.

if it's anything like the original CC, you can definitely count me out of it. I hated the original one so much that I couldn't even get up to the first hour.

The first one had some really annoying flaws and oversights, tho for the life of me I can't remember what some of them are. I managed to finish the game playing with 3 friends. I was playing using a 2nd gamecube and a small TV, and my friends were playing with GBAs. I liked the battle system decently enough, and it was fun to get the timing right to pull of combination spells.

So let me get this straight. Just because it's on the wii it's too good for the Final Fantasy thread?

My experience with the first CC game left me with a great desire to be beaten over the head with a bat then to play another CC game. So unless I hear a lot of feedback that this game is a redemption of the line, like cris, you can count me out. Nothing but painful memories are coming to mind right now.

I enjoyed CC, I had some fun nights with friends. It was a pretty short game, but it was well worth the $20 I spent on it.
From that trailer above, it looks like the story might play more of a factor this time round.

have you seen the trailer? The game looks nothing like the chrystal chronicles games. This one is all about the single player, unlike the other ones.
And to answer crows question. You're probably just assuming I didn't post this in the final fantasy board, because its a wii game. And you know what happens when you assume right? You look like a jackass. I didn't post this in the final fantasy board, because I didn't wanna. Not everyone goes in to that board, I rather post something like this so most people see it. I personally feel the final fantasy board should be used for a little chit chat on the series, and not all the news on final fantasy should have to be kept there. and if the mods disagree with me they can move this thread

trailers hardly shows or gives your the correct experience of gameplay however. The best a trailer can do it show graphic power and it's storyline (which I'm not saying it doesn't play a factor in hype). So if the game plays like CC original (which is what I hated "a lot"), it's not a game for me.

The trailer only shows about 1 second of in-game footage, the rest is CG. That hardly gives people the base to say the game is Single Player only. If the game turned out to be anything less than 4 players, I'd be very surprised.

People posting things in one forum, when there is a subforum for that exact type of thread, is the reason why those subforums lose popularity. It also says in the Video Game forum rules that if you post a Final Fantasy related thread in the normal gaming forum, it'll be deleted, not moved.

have they done away with restricting the player to that little bubble? and the trailer looked good.

This one is all about the single player, unlike the other onesI haven't had a chance to see the trailer yet, so if I've posted in complete ignorance, do forgive me. I was simply stating my distaste for the previous Crystal Chronicles game. And I'm sure you can imagine that for me, the very fact that the game is once again being slapped with the CC label tells me that it likely won't be THAT far off from the original. A game is more than graphics after all.
Crystal Chronicles was a bad game simply because it was a bad game with bad gameplay (opinion of course). This "sequel" will have to stand on its own two legs. All I'm saying is that it being a second Crystal Chronicles game doesn't excite me, nor, as has been proven before, does having the FF name necessarily mean it'll be good. If I hear eventually reviews to the contrary, then great, I look forward to playing it in the future. Otherwise, I'll have no regrets passing it up.

the trailer shows quiet a bit of actual gameplay, and it always shows 1 person battling. Anyways I believe square has already said the game isn't gonna have multiplayer.
And reasons sub forums like the final fantasy don't work, is because there are only so many people that actually just want to chit chat about 1 game all the time. But when there is good news to be heard, most people like to hear it. But if I would of posted this on the final fantasy board. people like me and nigel would never of found this thread. It sucks having to visit sub forums just to see if anyone found anything interesting. And if this is erased I don't care.

I agree, the original blows. But to answer nigels question, yeah it looks like they got rid of that stupid *** bubble

I;m pretty sure all of that was rendered with the in-game engine. I can't see any noticeable difference between the cut scenes and the few seconds of gameplay.

You're right. I just read a page on IGN or somewhere that say it had all real time cut scenes.

From Ign
the developer is pulling no punches to deliver a beautifully produced single-player experience.

Cool. The one thing I really liked about CC that is present here (and I hope you guys can at least agree wit this) is the awesome art direction. The last lord knows how many games out of SCE have all had good art direction in their own right, but it was all so similar on most accounts that they were getting dull just be being worn out.

More like some people don't know any better. I'm not sure what the Wii has to do with it.
As for CC... yeah, I'd get it if it didn't have a gay multiplayer requirement.

I always intended to get it if only b/c I liked the single-player CC for the GCN, but the big selling point for CC (and the series I'dve hoped) was the multiplayer experience.
More importantly, yes, this is in the wrong spot. Bum should know and, if he doesn't, he does now. And it will be moved. Well, I hope.

CC's multiplayer was a lot of fun... assuming you could get everything to do it. It was gimped because that was Nintendo's requirment to give SE a license to develop for the GBA: produce a Gamecube title that utilizes GBA connectivity.
In that light, I think FFCC was a fairly amazing game. All they had to do was get this thing out the door, and yet Game Developers Studios took the time to put together a visually pleasing engine, do some great work with the art and music, and most of the boss fights were fun. The final ones in particular. I actually really liked the single player in FFCC.

That was such a humungous weakness to overcome, though. I mean, if it was even remotely manageable to acquire everything you needed to play a successful multiplayer game in CC, it'dve been a hit. As it is, it's just a sore point in most people's memory.

Most peoples issue was the cable. I don't know why.
I got one with an issue of Nintendo power
I got one with Crystal Chronicles
I got one with Four Swords
And I got one as a promotional thing at EB just for buying a game.
I never had a shortage of the damn things. Plus, with an original GBA and an SP, I was half way on GBA units too. :/

I hate the original because you had to carry around that thing. Plus the gba didn't really make the experience any better. I only have high hopes for this one because I know they're concentrating on the single player aspect of the game.
and yes I do know this thread should be in the final fantasy board. but I'm a rebel and I don't care. :naughty:

While I'm in the camp that thought the GBA controllers for multiplayer and the forced uslessness of one player were terrible ideas that aided in marring what would have otherwise been at least a mediocre gaming experience improved by the company of friends, I honestly think focusing on the single player is an even worse idea. I mean, isn't the entire purpose of the rediculous final fantasy spinoffs to, I don't know, provide a different final fantasy experience? I'd much rather hear that they're working really hard to fine tune the multiplayer experience and make that worth playing than cranking out another generic failure of a single player rpg. But alas. I'm sure they won't drop the multiplayer completely from the chronicles series regardless, but it would be nice to hear that they're working really hard to improve the only unique aspect of the game rather than focusing on the typical one.

Action adventure on the same coin as Zelda isn't different from other Final Fantasies?

oh yeah, I wanna say thanks to the mod for moving the thread and not erasing it. Some mods would of been a jerk about it and erase my thread.
