Minutes to Midnight it quite possibly the worst CD they have released with the exception ofthe song "No More Sorrow" which sounds similar to their old work. Simply put they have forgotten their place in music.

They had none to begin with since they rode the dead nu metal wave. I'm glad Mr. Hahn and Mike decided to get out when they could. Linkin Park always failed.

I liked their Hybrid Theory CD, but then they sucked, sucked more, and then jsut got worse than any other bands I know. They just sort of sunk into the ocean of bands and lost it. I lost all interest with them after Meteora. I don't plan to go back to them either.

I think if a band can make a song conveying an in depth truth about politics, they should do so. I'd listen to it just for that. Only if they can treat the topic seriously enough to do it justice though (so not like P.Diddy's Vote or DIE  )

The hippie movement of the 60's was a lot different, because it doesn't take a VH1 Scientist to tell you that pre-1960's America was drab and dull, during the 50's things started changing a lot, there was a baby boom, television, suburbs, America was crying for a change, that was the colorful drug influenced era. Also, the Vietnam War was, needless to say, worse than the Iraq War on pretty much every scale. I don't think you can try and recreate the breaking free feeling of the 1960's with the "We love drinking at Starbucks," feel of 2007.

Hippies weren't that special. There have always been "deviant" subcultures, always will be. The hippies were just another one. They just happened to have a lot of free time to do drugs and listen to music.
Besides, America before the 60's wasn't that dull. The 50's mainstream ideal of conformity wasn't some homogenous status quo that was real. It wasn't really all like "Leave it to Beaver," there were people like Alan Ginsberg out hippie-ing the hippies in the early 50s.

Linkin Park has always been one of my favorite groups in recent years. I have all their albums and still listen to them, finding it to be better than the vast sea of dreck that passes for music out there.
Their new CD takes some getting used to in comparison of listening to their older stuff. So far, I like it. Not too shabby. The song about the war in Iraq, while cool, is nothing new. Every musical era has had something to talk about. Get over it.

I heard that new song on the radio and in the new Transformers trailer recently (which was freakin' AWESOME, sans the song). I do believe that this will be the end of them. It sounded terrible, and had a total lack of Shinoda and Hahn.
Here are my takes on their previous albums:
Hybrid Theory = Pretty good, especially for the time. Very progressive and new.
Reanimation = Very, very cool. Their best album in my opinion. Joe Hahn did some great work on this record.
Meteora = Not bad when it was released, but after being overplayed to ****ing hell on the radio it was completely intolerable.
Live in Texas = Pretty refreshing, it was nice being able to hear them perform their stuff without all that electronic crap in the background (I hope any member of Evanescence is reading this).
Jay-Z Collaboration = I was hoping for new material when I heard that they were making a new album, but what I got was what they've been doing since their career started: rehashes of their older material. This was when I gave up on them completely.
Then I hear that they were releasing a completely new album, with NEW MATERIAL!! (omg!) Even better was that they had supposedly ditched the nu metal sound. I was intrigued, but wasn't expecting anything special. In the end, it seems I was right <_<

I actually like Linkin Park's first two albums. I like nu-metal. Hey I'm a fan of rap, so it was the perfect bridge to rock.
That being said, I won't buy their new album because they seem ashamed of their hip-hop and rap part of their "hybrid" genre.
That snob Chester even said he hated "nu-metal" and thought their own band sucked. It's as if he's insulting the tastes of the very fans that made them famous and wealthy.
Guess what Chester? I don't want any part of your new direction, and I can't believe Mike Shinoda, the rap part of the group would just take this in the pipe.

Yeah the Doors were easily the most popular (and most awesome in my opinion) on that list (which overall I agree is good music).
I'll admit that I've liked a couple of Linkin Park songs, but don't know any of their names as I've never bought or downloaded any of them. I could have almost liked Breaking the Habit but no. The first time I heard it I thought "okay" then by the 3rd AMV it just got annoying. Now I don't even bother watching an AMV that says "Breaking the Habit" on it or anything else Linkin Park.

For the love of God, people, stop whining! If you don't like it, ignore it! There's a dial on your radio for changing the station, there's a button on your TV to change the channel.
And you could have avoided this whole debacle by ignoring everything but the one true Metal. 80's Metal for the win, enough said.

its weird ive heard of not one of those pbands you just mentioned
Some of them are the names of individuals in a band, but still... it's astounding that you've not heard of ANY of them.

People on Anime Nation have very strong tastes in music. If something doesn’t tickle their fancy a thread must be made about how it’s terrible and that this isn’t opinion its fact, irrefutable fact. It used to annoy me but now I laugh at the threads, post my thoughts on the music and keep going. Plus your advice applies to this thread as well.

Personally, I think LP have too much musical diversity to their act.
It's almost as though Chester and Shinoda are fighting for each style whilst they were recording their new album. That, and the fact that I've never been a fan of that nu-metal slop anyway.
Just a thought.

Mike Shinoda Has his solo album, and Chester had his i think (never heard about it), if you remember Fort Minor, Mike's been working on his free style hip hop lines. according to Wiki, Mike wrote most of the music for MTM. and he's in every track, just not on top of everything. I doubt there was a fight, to me the album gets better each time i listen to it. o.O but That's just a matter of taste and tolerance.
Is Linkin Park misspelled? I would never listen to anything that was deliberately misspelled.
They had some Internet issues with the name Lincoln Park, obviously it's a common name. That's old history though. The reason they chose "Lincoln Park" was so they would sound well known to everyone, since there's a park with that name everywhere.
again that's Wikipedia talking not me.
