Inuyasha movies

I'm just about done with the TV series and I just purchased the first movie.. Affections across time and I was just wondering if you needed to finish the whole TV series? Or do the movies stand on their own, seperate from the ending of the TV season? Please do not spoil anything! Thank you. ^_^

No. As far as I know you don't have to have finished the anime. The movies are just filler, and they don't have great replay value (in my opinion, I've not watched any of them more than 2-3 times.)
