I agree with crow-kun on this one, there's literally no information about this game.

Because it has "Final Fantasy" in the title, it has to be good, or have potential. Obviously.
God knows every gamer loves Final Fantasy, every single one of them. Even Mystic Quest. Best Final Fantasy evar, amirite?

Do you mean Mystic Quest?

Yeah, I edited it after I re-read it. :P
Way to read within 30 seconds of posting, you jerk. I even saw my edit before your reply. :(

lol, well
to be honest, if I was an American that never played any JRPG, Mystic Quest would've been good because of how simple that game was overall, including the story. If it had a hardcore story from the start and with your typical RPG difficulty, I think many American's would've shunned away from it.
Mystic Quest was a gateway RPG for many American's (for JRPGs that is)

I played "Mystic Quest" in the early 1990s on the SNES, but I am told that it is not a true "Final Fantasy" game because it was based on another game.

It was Japanese made but for Americans, it was even called Final Fantasy USA in Japan when it finally released in Japan. It's not true Final Fantasy in many ways but had many Final Fantasy characteristics at the same time.

Then it would be similiar to what Nintendo did when it adapted "Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic" for the U.S. market as "Super Mario Bros. 2" in 1988 as the original Japanese version was considered difficult for American gamers. The game was called "Super Mario USA" when it was released in Japan in 1992. The game was unlike any Super Mario game before it and after it, but elements of it are found in the various Mario spin-off (sports, party, etc.) games.
By the way, it was very funny at the time when I used to play "Crystal Quest" of how using a strong healing spell will inflict thousands of hit points against the last boss character. It makes the final battle too easy, and I found that out by accidentially casting a healing spell on the boss character (who is actually an undead)!

You can one shot kill the boss with Raise =-/
And Super Mario Brothers 2 (JP) is definately hard....1-2 is already tough, lol.

It's a fighting game. Any hope of this being good has completely died. For anyone still interested here is a scan. I'm officially done with it.

What is wrong with it being a fighting game, unless you do not like fighting games?

There are few reasons but most of all
Square-Enix doesn't have a fighting-game history, the ones they released may have been liked by some people but they sucked by the majority. Unless if somehow Square-Enix got staffs or ones that worked with Capcom / SNK, you can say it's probably going to be sucks.

Um you do know that those fighting games were not mainly made by Square. Enirgis(sp) was made by Dream Factory which is long gone.

I don't know what Enirgis is, but I'm assuming it's Ehrgeiz or w/e? Well even if Squaresoft didn't make it, they were still involved with it and even put their name on it, meaning SE at least has tried out the game.
they might surprise me with this game and it might actually turn out good, but I have my doubts =-/

Looks 'meh' already. Ehrgheiz was just all around bad. Crappy hitboxes, difficult motions for moves. It was a poor man's powerstone. Just like how this game is already looking. The last Square fighting game that was put out on the market was Tobal No.1. It was the only real fighter that came under the Square logo.

I seem to be the only person who thinks this has potential. If they made it like smash brothers, it could work. Square has more IP's than Nintendo (in terms of sheer number of characters), so you could have millions of combinations of versus matches. Fanboys can finally get their Squall v. Cloud dream match.
If they put this game on PS2, DS, or 360, I'd buy it, but it won't sell me a psp.

Super Smash game like on handheld? No, thanks, no matter how good it is.

Why be prejudiced against this idea if it has not been realized?
Because it has two things right now going against it:
1. Fighters + PSP = Not a good mix.
2. Square + Fighters = bad history.
Tobal No.1 was the only good fighter released under the brand and the sequel ended up sucking hard.

Number 1 is mainly a pad issue. The D-pad is pretty bad for command inputs. Especially when you're holding downback for your block and it fails to register it.
Judgement had mixed reviews.

I think this could work as a "party" fighting game. They need to put it on a console. It's like they expect it to fail, so they put it on the platform with the one of the lowest attach rates.
