View Full Version : Will it ever end?

I really like Inuyasha. I've seen quite a few episodes and I've fallen in love with the characters.
But it seems like this show just keeps going and going and going.
And after a while I get sick of it.
More than 100 episodes, a bijillion seasons, and at least 3 movies?
It's overplayed and overproduced.
For me, that really takes away from the series!
I like longer running anime's/mangas but
I think theres way way too much Inuyasha stuff.
(Episodes,seasons,movies)
Does anyone else feel that way?

Everyone feels that way, you are not alone. However, I couldn't make it past episode 30? I think. It was just too damn repetitive and I hate how everything happens at night time which makes pretty much everything look the same no matter what episode.

Yea most of the episodes are layed out all too similarly and I got sick of it.
=[ It makes me sad because they could have done a much better job with the series and made in more in depth than they did.
Its unfortunate.
Really unfortunate.
But at least theyre making a boatload of money.

The anime actually ended in Japan almost three years ago (at 167 episodes), but it didn't have much in the way of a real ending. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if fans' displeasure at how drawn-out it was caused a decline in the series' popularity that made animating it no longer worth the money for Studio Sunrise, and that's part of the reason why they ended it like they did.
I, for one, didn't bother with the anime after episode 126; I started reading the manga instead. (I also started reading the manga around the time rumours begin to spread about the anime's coming to an end.) The manga is still ongoing in Japan (it's over 500 chapters long), and at times it does seem really drawn-out, but it's better than the anime, and at least there's a potential ending in sight.
The InuYasha movies, however, are pretty good, and are worth watching even if you're not a huge fan of the anime. And there are only four of them, which is a lot fewer movies than what some other anime get. (*coughDragonballZcough*)

I kow I feel that way. It just never ends. For that reason, many people have started to dislike the series, and I don't blame them.

Geez, I am only reading the manga and I agree. Will Inuyasha ever choose a fricking girl? And will somebody explain why Rin is still around! She is so LAAAAMME!

Rin has a purpose. She is the proof that Sesshoumaru is starting to gain a sense of compassion. Now, I know some fangirls don't like the idea of Sesshoumaru becoming a compassionate person, but trust me, the character development in store for him much later on in the manga (in a chapter that hasn't been released in the U.S yet) is well worth giving up Mr. Impassive.

i'm in complete agreement, it needs to end. I don't even watch the show anymore but it use to be one of my favorites. I watched all the way till 167, and nothing was concluded so i got mad and haven't really watched it since. I would read the manga but its just like the anime, non ending.
I mean,i could see not wanting it to end if you like the characters alot, but atleast finish the plot. Have them kill naraku, kikyo and then everyone et with their respective compainion so we can have some sort of conclusion. Then Takahashi can continue the series with some kind of new storyline, maybe their life after Naraku. Just please, for the sake of everyone, kill Kikyo.

The post-anime manga chapters do conclude some things if your curious about that.
OP: Yeah, that's just the way it goes with long-running shounens. Bleach, Naruto, Detective Conan (more than 400 episodes and still going) and One Piece are the same way. Most of them are so far shorter than Inuyasha manga-wise but they're pretty close behind, and I wouldn't be surprised if the anime endings for them suffer the same fate.

The ending was shown here in America. I thought it took forever. And it wasn't even the ending of the series. I'll be anxious to see how it ends in the manga. If it already hasn't ended already, since I hear it's almost done.

I am not saying I don't like it, I am just making fun of it. :P It is a good show. It was the first to actually get me hooked on anime, but I can still laugh at it too.

The manga is nothing but a huge dollar sign to the creator, her publishing company and the american companies. They will milk it for as long as they can.

There have to be some people who like long-running series, or else they wouldn't exist. IMHO, series that run for over 100 episodes do so because they are popular enough that it's worth the animators' money to keep on making more episodes. When a series' popularity declines to the point where the show is no longer bringing in a lot of profit, the animators end the series. I think that's part of what happened to InuYasha; the anime just began to lose popularity, and so the animators decided they were through with it.

Very true but I also wish that they would just give a good conclusion. Stopping because of popularity problems is alright if the animators would gave a satisfying ending to those that still enjoy and follow the show. As it is right now...it is pretty weak. I watched so many episodes just find the ending as it is? :(

The animators might not have wanted to give the anime its own unique ending. It's possible that they wanted to end the anime in such a way that they could pick it up again at a later date if they wanted to. An open-ending serves that purpose perfectly.

I fear though that they may either start the show again too far down the road (losing many of their fans along the way) or never start it again. Let's hope that they don't wait too long if they are to pick it back up!

Actually, that's hard to say. The anime ended in 2004. That was three years ago. You would think if Studio Sunrise had plans to pick it up again, we would have heard about it by now. They have plenty of material to work with, after all. On top of that, they implied in an interview that they had no plans to finish animating InuYasha.
Open-ended endings are not uncommon in anime, unfortunately.
