I tried a search but ran into spoilers when reading so thought it best to simply ask. I notice he has Cloud's Buster Sword and Squall's Gunblade, later when you fight him he's got Tidus' Caladbolg. What's the crooked sword with the sun pattern on it? It looks so familiar I know I should know it but I'm lost.

Also I'm only lvl 45 so he kicked my arse but does he have Zidane's Ultima Weapon? Zidane often gets hosed since FFIX lost money so he's never been popular and he rarely gets credit for being a FF hero but he had my favorite weapons.

Is it a twin blade weapon? Then no, he doesn't have it. And I remember the sun blade, but I have no clue which FF it's from. He has Squalls gunblade too, but after I defeated him his beastiary said they might not even be the genuine articles. If you remember Clouds buster sword has two holes in it, but when Gilgamesh has it it has four. Remember to steal the genji armor from him after every littlle cutscene when he speaks, but the second time you fight him is quite tough, so get to lvl 70 to steal those the second time. You're at the perfect lvl for the auto leveling trick.
Good luck

I believe it is the "Tournesol" blade you can acquire late into the game and after much grinding.

As for Gilgamesh, I was able to defeat him at the level of 51, but that was Hell to accomplish. I had to try at least 15-20 time before I got him. I would recommend at least 60+ before taking him on.

Yeah, his first incarnation was easy though, just pummel his dog and keep people healing. I didn't know he has Genji armor EACH time you can steal from him, I got a potion and an X-Potion before getting a genji glove and shield. Do I need to reload from another save spot?

Only if you missed the other pieces of armor.Further into the mine the creatures become very tough. There is a item that reverses item effects, for example tear drops cause blind. Get that from the hunters shop and use a remedy on the dog the second time, then cast oil on it and nuke it with fire 3. Also keep Decoy on you tank, and cure often. Oh, and try to have your levels at something five, like 65, that way you avoid his level based attacks, like level 3 disable and level 2 sleep. Bubble belts go a long way too. Sort out your gambits too, because having your tank fully loaded with protective spells at all times will help, and remember to dispel Gilgamesh after each cutscene.
Tournesol eh? It looks like a rip off from that sword in Fable. Any clues as to where I can get it? I'll tell you where to get save the queen XD

It is indeed the sword Tournesol. You can obtain it later on in Final Fantasy XII. Not quite as big though..

Umm spoiler just in case, so I don't get any complaint: You simply sell the following items and it will appear in your bazaar and you will have to purchase it for 600k - 3 Gemsteel, 3 Empyreal Soul, 3 Serpentarius. From what I remember, you have to trade several items to convert to those items - Orichalcum ingot is one of them which can be gotten from a Rare Game in.. erm.. snowy place, 1 zone before where you fight Fafnir.. or you can farm them in that tower near the end of the game (it has been so long, my memory is not so great. Please forgive me.) Just google it! ^^;

It's the best Great Sword in FFXII, 'in my opinion'. I thought Wyrmhero Blade would be the best since it has +50 Evasion, but what they don't tell you is that it has ridiculous delay. The Wyrmhero Blade gives you a permanent Faith and Bravery effect for the wielder, but again, the delay is too horrible even with Haste or Cat-ear Hood; I would compare it's delay to a gun. With Tournesol, you get 25 less Evasion compared to Wyrmhero Blade, but you also get 10 more attack. Excalibur is also not bad since it has a Holy elemental bonus.

Concerning Gilgamesh's weapons, he carries few of the following familar replicas (got from a guide):

Excalibur replica: A replica of the Excalibur, the moon crest on the hilt is based upon the designs of Final Fantasy V.

Excalibur XII: This is a replica of the Holy Sword Excalibur. This one is also based on the Final Fantasy V model, but this one has a sun emblem on ths hilt (Tournesol?).

Steel Cutter Replica: A replica of the Steel Cutter blade used by the summon monster Odin. It has a blue-black blade with an unnerving face into it.

Brotherhood Replica: This is a replica of the Brotherhood sword used by Tidus in Final Fantasy X.

A replica of the Legendary Sword found in Dragon Warrior I - III.

The other two are quite obvious so I skipped them - Buster Sword and Gunblade.
